"Look guys I'm so sorry" Kate said as her partners went out from the elevator at 12th precint with handcuffs on their wrists. Everyone including Capitan Gates was looking at them.
"Please we're the ones who screwed up." Espo said.
"Lead them right to you." Ryan added with anger.
"Keep them here until I get back. I want to personally escort them in the booking." Capitan Donovan ordered. He went to speak with Victoria Gates, while Kate, Rick, Kevin and Javier were watched by the guys from Internal Affairs.
"Castle..."Beckett started.
"Shhh... it's not your fault. " Castle interrupted.
"I really tought we were gonna make it." Kate said as she looked into her fiancé's eyes. He took her hands and said.
"Hey, whatever happens." I will always love you was left unsaid. Instead, when he finished they kissed kissed each other. They were going to cell and they had no idea, when they will be able to kiss again. Kate wanted to say something, but she couldn't, she loved Castle with all of her heart and she didn't wanted him to go down for it, to go to jail, because of her obsession, because of her mother's murder. She needed a proof, she needed the tape. Her eyes drifted away from his for a second and then she saw it. She looked at her desk and something popped into her head.
"Castle the elephants." She said urgently.
"I don't understand." Castle answered with confusion.
"They were my mom's, before they were on my desk, she used to keep them on hers. She used to joke about how they were like a family, just like us, me, my mom, my dad, they were a family." As soon as Kate shared her theory with Castle and friends, she decided take a shot. She run to her desk and took the elephants. She was looking for some hidden button or anything which will suggest that inside of them, there is a proof of Senator's Bracken illegal activity. Kate didn't saw the chaos, which she created. IA people was yelling and blocking Casle, Ryan and Espo from accessing the bullpen. They barely was able to see Kate and they most definetly didn't sawGates and Donovan, who just have pointed his gun at Rick's fiancee.
"Detective Beckett, stay back detective." Donovan said, but Kate didn't stop. Victoria Gates was doing everything in her power to take away the gun from the stronger and taller man, but she didn't succeed. Just after the plastic tape hit the ground, the sound of the bullet leaving the pistol, echoed in the room.
"I found it, we made it Castle." Kate said and as soon as she finished her sentence, she felt oddly weak. Beckett placed her hand on her side and then she realised what is going on. Hot, red liquid cover her hand quickly. Her legs couldn't keep her up anymore and she fell on the concrete floor right next to the tape, which she managed to find.
