There´s no much to say about the story bellow, just its a small piece telling Julia´s real reaction toward the events of the season finally.
Hope you enjoy.
Ruth Green, thanks for the help.
JULIA´S LAMENT
As she left the train station, Julia had no desire to go back home - that home she shared with her husband now seemed just a pile of bricks and stones with no warmth in it, and just the thought that Ruth and Henry could still be in the house, with their newborn daughter, made her feel sick.
Everything started just two days ago when her husband found out he fathered a son, a bastard one, if she could say that, outside of their marriage. In William's defense, the child´s conception, of course, happened when they weren't together, when Julia was engaged to Darcy Garland and Anna Fulford had come to ask for William´s help when she was in danger.
At first, of course, since Harry, the boy in question had lost his mother, Julia willed herself to be friendly with him, which apparently the boy didn't liked, as he treated her a bit coldly. Julia didn´t blame him, as she was aware the boy had suffered a great loss. However, when they found out that Anna Fulford might be alive, Harry ran to Montreal to find her and William followed him, in fear of him getting hurt.
It was then when Julia started to hyperventilate; William, her husband, her one and only, had fathered a son with another woman, something he always wanted - a son - and now she could see that he was really happy about that.
She felt useless. She thought about the past –how her attempts to give her husband a child failed, making Julia feel desperate. Not even adopting worked for them, and as much as William assure her it wasn't her fault and her love meant to him more than anything else, she suddenly felt unconvinced. Otherwise, if it was true, he would never fathered any child or would have stopped her marriage with Darcy. But he didn´t.
She started thinking about other women who cross their path since before their wedding and suddenly all of them seemed much better than her, even Eva Pearce. After all, all these women could give William something he wanted, while she couldn´t.
Julia´s thoughts led her very far away from where she lived; in fact, before she realized, she was on the bridge at the park, the same bridge that was falling apart after the last rainstorm. Still, so absorbed by her thoughts, Julia failed to notice the 'stay away' sign and continue to wander around, as part of her really wanted to finish her suffering, by accidentally falling into the rocky river down there.
Suddenly, a pair of big hands grab her shoulders, pulling her back to safety and to reality. It was Det. Watts, who, making his way home, passed by the same bridge, just in time to see the doctor walking directly to her death. He of course tried to call to her, but when she didn´t listen, he rushed as fast he could, to prevent a tragedy.
''Det. Watts? What…''
''Dr. Ogden, what were you trying to do?'' he asked. ''Doctor?''
''I don't… know. Detective, what are you doing here?''
''I was going home when I saw you here, are you all right? Want me to escort you home? Where´s Detective Murdoch?''
''William has gone to Montreal… and I don´t want to go home, please, just leave me be,'' she said and in response, he scratched his head, not really wanting to let her alone.
''Maybe then you would like to join me for a beer, and may we can discuss what made you almost walk to your death,'' Watts said amicably, offering his arm. ''It's a contribution, for having tried to cure me of my 'illness','' Watts replied and in response, Julia accepted the offer.

The conversation was serious but pleasant. As a detective, Watts shared with Dr. Ogden all the details and the aspects of the investigation, including Harry shooting at a man at Mr. Carmichael´s restaurant, which surprised Julia. As much as she knew the boy was suffering, she never thought he would be capable of shooting someone, not even someone who deserved it.
In the meantime, of course, Julia shared with the younger detective all her fear and failure regarding the boy´s arrival and now knowing that Anna Fulford must be alive, she was afraid that William would leave her to be with his 'family.' So to speak.
''But his family isn't you?'' the detective asked.
''I´m not sure anymore, Watts,'' she said. ''William deserves better… he deserves someone who can give him what he wants, not someone who keeps failing him,'' she cried.
''When two people love each other, they do everything, face whatever obstacle to be together, no matter the circumstances…'' Watts replied, his mind however, wandering somewhere else.
''Detective?'' Julia stared at him.
''Hum? Oh I'm sorry Doctor, got distracted…'' he started. ''Listen, I'm sure Detective Murdoch will return, I saw you and him at the station, I know he loves you that much. It's just everything new to him, this boy's arrival and everything…''
''Maybe you are right Detective, thank you for listening to me and I apologize for the scare I give you.'' She smiled. ''Now I think I'm ready to go home.''
''I will escort you, Doctor,'' Watts replied and left the bar, following the doctor.

By the next morning, Julia received a telegram from William, saying he was all right and would be back as soon he made sure Anna Fulford was alive and well and Harry had reunited with her. He, of course, finished the telegram with an 'I Love You' which earn a smile from his wife.
Meanwhile, Detective Watts practically set camp at the Murdoch residence, with mostly the intention of not leaving Dr. Ogden alone, just for a precaution.
Two days later, when William arrived at home, with no son and a smile on his face, instead of reacting to the smile, Julia started to cry almost hysterically, scaring her husband.
''Julia? What is the matter? Tell me! Are you hurt?'' he asked, worried while embracing her tightly.
''I I'm s-sorry William, I'm so sorry…'' she sobbed. ''I´m s-sorry I have failed you, I'm sorry I didn't give you the child you wanted…''
''Huh? Julia where is that coming from? How can you think you failed me, when it's at your side that I'm happy, Julia?'' William said, kissing the top of her head as she cried and squeezed him.
''I was afraid William,'' she started trying to compose herself. ''When you told me you had a son, I really felt that I failed you… but… but when you found out Anna Fulford was alive, I was afraid you would leave me forever and… and as I told you once, 'life without you is worse than death.'' She started to sob again.
''Oh God, Julia…'' he hugged her tight. ''I´m really sorry I made you feel that way, love.'' He kissed her and wiped her tears. ''Julia, my love, you know I love you more than anything in this world. I dare to say, you are my one and only and nothing or no one will come between us.''
''Is she… is she alive?'' Julia asked in fear and in response, William nodded.
''Yes,'' he replied and Julia closed her eyes, silently cursing Watts from having saved her. ''Yes, she is alive, Harry is reunited with her and… and more than anyone, she understands that my heart belongs only to one person and one person only. She told me how lucky we are and urged me to come back to you,'' the detective said. ''She just asked me to visit Harry from time to time and be the father he needs. This I couldn't deny,'' he said and she give a small nod.
For a few minutes, the couple stood there in each other´s arms, as Julia slowly composed herself. Once she did, William made some tea for them and they sat side by side on the couch and talked cheerfully about the possibility of going to Niagara Falls next month and maybe Harry could join them if he wanted to.
Savouring the rest of the day, Julia never left her husband´s side, in fear not only of him to going away, but that his coming back wasn't merely a dream.
However, Julia decided to believe Det. Watts when he said that when two people love each other, thy will face every obstacle to be together. Sure, at the time he was talking about himself and his affair. Still, if he was right, the arrival of Harry would be nothing but another challenge she and William would have to face together. She was happy with that.
