"Hey Dash." Dash looked up as Jack sat on the edge of her desk. He had that look on his face, the one that said he'd had an idea but wasn't sure if it was worth saying out loud. One of these days, Jack would make a good detective, if he learned to have a little confidence in his instincts. Dash was generally his first port of call when he needed someone to bounce his ideas off before taking them to someone who could do something about it. Dash leaned back in her chair and looked up at him. "Hey Jack."

"So this tape of PJs…" Jack paused. Dash smiled at him encouragingly. "This tape doesn't work on a vcr, right?"

"Right..." Dash wasn't sure where this was going. The not-VCR thing had been the main topic of discussion all day, so it wasn't new information, but she gestured for Jack to keep talking anyway.

"But doesn't the bloke work for some production company? That's how he got the camera, right?"

"…right"

"So why can't we borrow a player thing from them to watch it?"

"That, Jacko, is a brilliant idea," Dash said. How nobody else had thought of it, she didn't know. Such a simple solution, and it had taken all day and a whole lot of frustration for someone to think of it. She grabbed her hat, and threw the patrol car keys at Jack. "Let's go see what we can work out with the production company. You can drive"

Dash knocked briefly on the boss's door before sticking her head through the opening.

"Boss, that DVR player Jack was chasing has arrived"

"Goodo, lets see what's on that tape," Tom said as he stood up and followed Dash out into the muster room where Jack was connecting the player to the tv.

"You don't want to wait for PJ?" Dash asked. He was the one who had been pushing to find the camera to check out the evidence on the tape, it only seemed fair that he was included in what was, in hindsight, an obvious solution.

"It's really a uniform matter. And he's been too busy to even get the tape to audiovis, he doesn't really have time to watch a tape he's already seen." Tom reached for the remote control while Dash pushed the tape into the player, and pressed play as Ben walked in to join them.

"Hey is that Maggie?" Ben asked, as the tape started up.

"Yeah, but who's she with?" Jack asked, though his question was being answered even as he asked it. They watched in stunned silence as the camera moved around, and the identity of the other person in the car became clear.

They were all still trying to process what they were looking at as PJ & Maggie came in through the front door. "He's such a smug bastard…" PJ trailed off as he noticed everyone had suddenly turned around to stare at them.

"Just out for a walk, hey Peej?" Ben teased. It was then PJ noticed the tv set up, and the black and white image frozen on the screen. A small noise of terror came from behind him, indicating Maggie had caught on to what everyone was watching.

"Needs to go to audiovis, does it? Doyle, Hasham, my office, now." The boss stood up and ushered them through the door. The last thing they heard as the door closed was an eruption of laughter from their workmates behind them.
