Once upon a time in a far faraway land, there lived a handsome prince who lived a very sheltered life, who received a lot of loves both from his parents and his people. The prince's father, the King, was a very wise man who successfully brought prosperity to the kingdom. Thus, never had there been a war for as long as the King was on the throne– not even a theft had ever happened. Meanwhile, the prince's mother, the Queen, was a very beautiful and kind-hearted woman who, despite of her fondness for teasing the prince, was really adored by the entire kingdom.

As all fairytales went, a prince needs a princess. And so does the handsome prince in this story. The prince was to be betrothed to the princess of a neighboring kingdom, since both the Kings and the Queens of the two kingdoms were an old-time best friends. Since they were young, the prince would often visit the neighboring kingdom with the King and stayed for several months just to meet with the princess. On another chance, it would be the princess who tagged along with her dad to visit the kingdom just to play with the prince. Both of them were getting along very well. Did love bloom between them as they grew up? Well, definitely. Until one day, on the 15th birthday of the prince, a letter came from the neighboring kingdom. It was news about the princess who suddenly died from eating a poisonous apple given by a witch who had grudges against the neighboring kingdom. Many mages had examined the princess and all of them believed it was a curse that stopped the heartbeats. A curse that could only be broken by a kiss of the princess' true love.

The prince mourned as he heard the bad news about his beloved princess and decided to take a journey to the neighboring kingdom alone, with the permission from the King. Upon his arrival at the front gate of the kingdom, he could already feel the great sadness filled the air. As he got nearer toward the cathedral, he could see more and more people kneeled, helplessly crying for the death of the princess. The prince got down from his white horse and walked toward the nave of the cathedral. There, he saw a beautiful black-gold coffin, illuminated by the striped of light that came from the big windows. It was full of white lilies and the princess was laid peacefully inside it as if she was sleeping. The prince broke his heart when seeing the still body of the princess. One hand gripping the edge of the coffin tightly and the other hand cupped the princess' cheek carefully. The prince gave a very intense loving stare toward the princess' face before he…

"CUT! CUT! CUT!" Kobayashi-sensei suddenly shouted, startled the whole classroom who were there watching the scene, "Conan-kun, you are suppose to give a loving stare toward the princess!"

"Wha…?!" Conan said, also startled by the sudden stop of the act.

"Yes, that's right Conan-kun," Mitsuhiko continued the comment, "Why did you stare at Haibara-san who is playing the witch role instead of Ayumi-chan who is playing the princess?"

"Ehh?!" Conan said, but this time he was surprised by the statement that Mitsuhiko gave. A small red blush could be seen on both of his cheeks.

"Geez, Conan-kun. What's wrong with you?" Ayumi asked while waking up from her sleeping position to sitting position, "We've got only several days before the high school festival to rehearse this drama."

"B-But…!" Conan stumbled on his speech, unable to find some excuses on what he did during the last scene.

"Maybe he was hungry!" Genta cut the teenage boy's speech, "You know that human can't think straight with empty stomach, right?"

"N-No… Th-That's…"

"Ara~ Does the prince finally come to fall in love with the witch instead?" smirked Haibara who was standing beside the kneeling Conan.

"Oi-oi!" Conan gave Haibara an annoyed look, but couldn't say more as he felt blood rushing toward his face, making him looked like a boiled crab.

If only Haibara knew of what she said was indeed true. Because unexpectedly in the middle of his journey to save the princess, the prince met the witch. And how the prince fell in love with the witch? Well, it would be saved for another story at another time.

Author's note: Finally, my first fanfiction after ten (or is it twelve?) years away from being a writer! So, please go easy on me. Also, this is my first Detective Conan fanfiction. Thanks to months of rereading and catching up with the latest chapters of the manga that I found back my interest in writing (I stopped reading Detective Conan since twelve years ago because I hate to read hung up chapters, so I waited for it to complete first but then realized I had missed a lot from the series).

Please give reviews and comment so I could improve more. Sorry for any grammatical errors because English is my second language.

Disclaimer: All characters of Detective Conan are belong to Aoyama Gosho. I don't own any single of them.
