This story takes place in an Alternate universe where Tony Stark had a kid who followed along with his adventures from the time that he graduated from M.I.T at 18. This story takes place post Endgame however the timeline got restored due to Tony's son making some changes.
Iron Man: Father and son
Tyler Stark was far from your average 24-year-old, his father was Tony Stark world-renowned billionaire and philanthropist as well as being Iron Man. Tyler Stark was also part of the avengers too and was currently known as Iron Man Jr. Tyler Stark had been born when his dad was 21, he had accidentally had a child with a girlfriend who was 20 at the time, who had unfortunately died during childbirth with Tyler. Tyler was raised by nannies and had touters for his schooling as he had proven to be too smart for his teachers at school that was of course until he was accepted at his father's alma mater M.I.T. (the Massachusetts institute of technology) at the age of 13. He spent the next four years there, his dad had been the most proud of him on two occasions the first was when he came home from his sophomore year (second year) with his brass rat ring, it was a tradition at M.I.T. for them to receive a ring that had a beaver on the top of it along with the Skylines of Boston and Cambridge along with other custom designs for the particular class, on the inside of the ring it had a map of the campus and the name of the student. The ring was worn with the beaver facing towards the student and with the skyline of Boston the idea was that it represented the outside world away from the rigours of M.I.T. and also the beaver doing its business on the wearer the side that had the skyline of Cambridge on it faced away from the wearer until they graduated as it was to represent the fond memories that they had of their time. The second day that Tony Stark had been proud of Tyler was on his graduation day from M.I.T. he had been invited to give an address to the graduating class, instead of just shaking Tyler's hand like he did with the others he pulled him into a hug and said "I'm proud of you son." Tyler also had a grad rat or graduation ring but as opposed to his brass rat he didn't wear it and instead kept it in a glass cube on his desk in his room, next to it he also had a 50-pound Tungsten cube.
Tyler Stark also wasn't like everyone else either even being as smart or smarter than his father, they jokingly would have fights over it from time to time but never really decided to do an IQ test as they both knew that they didn't really provide much information. Tyler had also been born deaf, his dad of course had to have him get cochlear implants as soon as he could, however the two of them did learn sign language and often would use it when they knew that someone didn't know it which led to Miss Peeper Pots learned it in secret so that she could know when they were plotting something behind her back. Over the years both Tony and Tyler had made various improvements to his hearing aids to the point that they were barely visible when he had them on, they also incorporated the A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) system that they used, which also changed over the years.
Tyler mostly wore shorts something that he had started doing around 12 or 13, it didn't matter to him what the temperature was out, mostly he liked either cargo or basketball shorts. Unlike Tony he kept his hair long that he usually kept in a lose ponytail with a black snapback hat on it, for formal occasions when he was required to wear a suit or a tux he kept it neater then usual and didn't wear the snapback hat. His normal everyday wear consisted of a band or M.I.T t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. He also had various hoodies that he wore too, including an . one he had worn on Jeopardy when he was in the college tournament, he came in second place to a Harvard student. His everyday look was usually topped off with a pair of black vans but he had a few others that he would wear from time to time.
Tyler had also been there in Afghanistan with Tony when they were injured and held hostage at the time he was a few months shy of his graduation from M.I.T. at the age of 18. The full extent of Tyler's injuries weren't fully known until he got back to the United States of America. Tony had gotten him to a private hospital to deal with him as like himself Tyler also had shrapnel around his heart and had his own arc reactor to power an electromagnet that kept it away from his heart and powered his Iron Man Jr. suit. Unlike Tony, Tyler had taken some shrapnel to his left leg and had also broken his left ankle, his ankle had been crudely set and his wounds were bound and treated however he ended up with an infection and it was deemed better to amputee his leg below the knee. Over the years well they made improvements to the Iron Man suits they also made improvements to his fake foot to the point that he could walk on it barefoot and feel everything almost as well as he could with his real foot, he could even wiggle the toes on it, putting it on was just as easy as putting on his Iron man armor. Originally it had been powered by the arc reactor in his chest but when him and his dad had developed away for the shrapnel to be removed safely they decided to use rechargeable batteries for it instead of fitting an arc reactor in it.
There had also been a brief period where Tony Stark and Iron man hadn't been a part of the universe as he had sacrificed himself to retore the people who had been taken by Thanos, Tyler had ended up building a machine that was able to temporarily bend space and time well he searched for a universe that Iron Man was alone in and he had brought him back to it. In doing so he had somehow reset the time line to before the blip and no one had actually disappeared in the first place and Thanos had been dealt with. It was something that they didn't talk about much as it was completed to explain and even understand. The Tony from that universe had decided that he preferred to be in the Stark/ Avengers tower even though there was a separate Avengers campus in upper New York State. The current building had extra security added to it and the Avengers floors were mainly used if they were staying with Tony and didn't want to commute back to the campus it was relatively easy for Tony and Tyler to commute their if they needed to as they could just get into their suits. There were also separate floors that were for Tony, Pepper and Tyler. They also had some spare rooms on what was known as the family floor too for future use and guest rooms. On the floor below it was the private labs for Tony and Tyler they had a shared space along with separate offices in it as there were times that they needed to be alone to work on various projects that they had. The shared lab space had the four robot assistants that they had made, the original ones made by Tony were in black and called Dum E and U. Tyler had made a second set in red and they got referred to as Bono and Edge originally, they had been called Dum E2 and U2 but as a joke Tyler referred to them as Edge and Bono and the names stuck.
A few months after things had settled down again well, they waited for the next need for the Avengers Peter Parker who was a part time member of the Avengers aka whenever they needed him as he was still in school was doing an internship at Stark industries which was based out of the lower floors of the tower. He had mentioned to Tony and Tyler well they were in the private lab working on some upgrades for his Spiderman suit that his aunt was going to be visiting her sister and brother-in-law and he wasn't keen to leave because of the internship plus the whole Spiderman thing as well. Tyler then said, "why doesn't he stay with us, if he wants to go to Queens and patrol, I'll take him there and lie low for a bit."
Tony then said, "I'll have to clear it with Pepper and his Aunt but I'm sure we can work things out."
Peter then said, "you guys are the best I'd love to stay here I'll ask my Aunt and let you know what she has to say about it."
Tony then said, "I'll run it by Pepper as well."
Tyler then said as he looked to the door to the lab "speak of the devil." He let her in before Tony could say anything, usually unless it was anyone else, he would let his Dad do it but conceding that he for whatever reason didn't always want to let her in the lab he took to doing it. Tony gave his son a look that said "why did you just do that" even though he knew why.
Pepper then said, "I decided to come down and see if Peter was going to stay for dinner or if he needed to get home."
Peter looked at his watch and said, "wow it is getting late." He then checked his phone and saw that his Aunt said that she had to work late and wondered if Peter could get dinner for himself. Peter then said, "Actually I don't have to be back until later my Aunt has to work late so dinner sounds great." Every now and then when Peter's Aunt had to work late, he would stay for dinner with the Starks sometimes they would be joined by other members of the Avengers as well. One of the of funniest times had been when Thor was their Tyler had started learning Norwegian partly because he got bored sometimes and would teach himself other languages (he was currently fluent in a number of real and made-up languages some of which he could also read and write in) plus he had also found out through DNA testing that he had some Norwegian ancestors. Thor had jokingly asked if he acknowledged him as his God. Tyler had told him know but he did acknowledge him as a god, which was pretty much how everyone else did with Thor.
Tony then said "Pepper, Pete here was saying that his Aunt was going away for a bit and Ty suggested that he stay with us. I figured that I should check with you first before I say anything."
Pepper then said, "as long as his Aunt is ok with it, I'm fine with it we can sort out his credentials to give him access to the family floor as well as the Lab as well and sort out some ground rules." She knew from the way that Tony and Tyler got from time to time it was better to have established rules rather than making them up on the spot although there were some rules that had been made up for various reasons.
They had a little bit of a discussion about what the ground rules would be that both Pepper and Tony would be talking to Aunt May about well they ate the spaghetti and meatballs that Pepper had made. Peter was amazed that she had time to do things like make dinner for herself, Tony, Tyler and sometimes him and still do her CEO job, of course it helped that she worked in the building most of the tome as did Tony and Tyler who had offices that they only ever used if they were doing anything other than work in the private lab. Tyler was the head of the internet and computer security department of Stark Industries and weas pretty much the only one in it other then a friend of his from M.I.T by the name of Jason who worked out of his home in Boston as the Artificial Intelligence program that he had written pretty much did everything for him unless he needed to speak with a clint or take care of a hacker getting into one the company accounts he managed. Tony on the other had was usually never in his office and would sometimes just wonder around that section of the building to see what everyone was up to; the truth was his office was next to Peppers but since she ran everything without him having to do much, he would do whatever he wanted to.
A few days had past, and it was now Monday afternoon Aunt May had spoken with Pepper and had just called Tony well he, Tyler and Peter were in the lab working on various things for the avengers and some fun things too. They had been talking about if building a real lightsaber was practical and safe although not that the later ever really stopped Tony and Tyler before. Tyler then said, "look I just don't see how it can be practical at all I mean it's a ridiculous as the spray bottle flame throwers we made a few years ago."
Tony then said, "yeah good point I don't think either of us want to go through that again."
Peter was about to ask something when Tony got the call from Peter's Aunt May and went into the office to talk to her, thankfully it was soundproof unless you had enhanced hearing or used an A. I program to listen in. Peter however was curious about the flame thrower thing and aske Tyler about it. Tyler then said "um let's see it was about a year or so before I started at M.I.T. so I was about 13 it was in March just after my birthday and we were goofing around in the old house in Malibu I slipped on the floor and got myself in the back of the leg with the flame thrower and got burned badly from it. I spent a bout a month in the burn unit getting skin grafts."
Peter then said, "ouch that must have hurt,"
Tyler then said "yeah it did and and it didn't. The burn itself was bad and I still don't have feeling in the back of my right leg where it happened. Although it is starting to get better and I have started growing hair on it now." Peter asked if he could see it. Tyler pulled a chair over and put his foot up on it he also had a knee brace on his right leg now as well as a couple of months ago he had slipped on some hydraulic fluid that had leaked from one of the robots in the lab, since he had injured it before and also because of his other leg his doctor and his physical therapist had decided that he should wear a knee brace all of the time. At first Peter and Tony had found it funny until they realized how much pain Tyler was in, Tony had ended up calling the Avengers campus to have them send someone to help him as they usually tended to avoid the regular hospital if they could, mainly because they wanted to avoid any publicity or extra questions from people who didn't know all of the history of them. Tyler was out of commission for a few months well he recovered from his injury by the end of it he said that he never wanted to see a physical therapist ever again, which given his history with it anyone would understand. Peter looked at the burn and said it looked pretty good now. Tyler replied "yeah I try to look at it every now and then but it's kind of hard to see it even in a mirror."
Tony came out of his office and said "wow it's been a while since I've seen that. It doesn't really look too bad anymore. How does it feel by the way?"
Tyler took his foot off the chair and said "its not too bad actually I'm starting to get some more feeling in it and I've got some hair growing on it too now."
Peter then asked "um so just curious but where do they get skin for a skin graft from?"
Tyler then said "from my butt and some donor skin that's grown in a lab."
Peter then said "oh ok that's good I guess. So what do mean by getting feeling back?"
Tyler replied "so when you get a third degree burn like I did it burns the nerves and you can't feel anything from it. So basically, the last few years the nerves in that part of my leg have been slowly growing back."
Peter then asked "so is that why you always have shorts on?"
Tyler then said "not really I've done that for a while now I think since I was 12 or 13. Heck even in the winter months in Boston I wore them."
Peter then said "wow I can't image wearing them in the snow."
Tyler replied "I'm used to it plus I'm always pretty warm any way."
Tony replied "yeah I remember as a kid he used to just sleep with a sheet on him at night. I know Pepper sometimes asks if I think he's cold at night when he's sleeping."
Tony then changed the subject and said "so getting back to what the phone call was about that was underroos smoking hot aunt on the phone and she agreed that he can stay here however, someone will have to drive him to school most likely it will probably be Tyler. She said that she also doesn't want you to go out without supervision either."
Peter then said "ok I understand it's a long way from here to my school and plus I don't really think it's a good idea to websling there in broad daylight."
Tony then said, "more at night if you do want to go to Queens at night let Ty know ok."
Peter then said "yeah no problem um can I ask why you don't have a nickname for him?"
Tyler then said "yeah it does seem odd that neither of us really have nicknames for each other that we use."
Tony then said "you have a good point I think it's because we spent so much time with each other we know each other so well we don't bother with them."
Tyler then said "yeah makes sense to me although you do call me Ty sometimes when you don't want to use my full name." Tyler then thought for a second and said "there are the really horrible ones we have when we're fighting with each other but I don't think I want to repeat them."
Tony then said "yeah good point we don't really want to say anything bad in front of underroos here."
Peter then said as he looked at Tyler "he's never not going to call me that is he?"
Tony then said "only until I come up with something else." Tony then explained how it was a reference to something that kids wore when he was younger back in the 70's
