A one shot I wanted to do about Lynn and Lincoln's sibling relationship since they started middle school together. Hope you enjoy it.
The sun was shining over the Loud House. Lincoln Loud was happily waiting for the bus. He felt much better ever since he and his friends helped their fellow sixth graders put the eighth graders in their place.
He was drinking a bottle of pulp free orange juice and was just about to take a bite of his breakfast sandwich when suddenly, "Yoink!" Lynn Loud had snatched Lincoln's sandwich!
"Hey! That was mine! You already had yours!" Protested Lincoln. "Guess it sucks to be you Stinkoln. Besides, I need the extra energy! We're just 1 day away from the most important game of my life! The game were the Royal Woods Kangaroos face off against the Great Lakes City Badgers at Great Lakes City stadium! The most famous stadium Michigan!"
Lincoln sighed in annoyance. Lynn had been talking about getting to this championship ever since she joined the soccer team last year. He was quite tired of it.
Soon, the bus pulled up and Lincoln climbed aboard. Lynn climbed in behind him. "I thought you were jogging to school." Said Lincoln. "That was for track. With soccer going on we're on break." Explained Lynn. Lincoln just walked down the aisle and sat down next to Clyde while Lynn went to the back.
Clyde noticed Lincoln's annoyed expression. "Something wrong buddy?" He asked. "It's Lynn. I just wish she'd stop messing with me so much. It's almost like she takes pleasure in watching me suffer. I can't even remember the last time she actually called me by my real name." Sighed Lincoln.
Clyde looked at Stella, Rusty, Liam, and Zach. They all felt sorry for Lincoln and wanted to help their friend.
When they arrived at school, Lincoln disembarked the bus only to be shoved to the side by Lynn. "Move it Stinkoln! I gotta get some practice in before first period!" Stella helped Lincoln up. This time, Lincoln didn't say anything. He simply brushed himself off and walked away. Stella noticed he was looking more sad than frustrated.
"We gotta do something about Lynn." Said Zach. "Lincoln said he tried to tell Lynn several times to stop messing with him, but she never listens." Explained Stella. The friends looked at each other in worry, knowing that this was not going to end well.
Throughout the day, Lynn still found ways to bother Lincoln. After first period, she pantsed him in the hallway. After second period, she sprayed him with the water fountain. And after third period, she tripped him for running in the hallway. Every time Lynn pranked Lincoln, he became even more upset.
At lunch, Lincoln explained what had been happening to his friends. "What's her problem? Why is she doing all of this to you?" Asked Rusty. "She says she's just having fun with her brother. Sibling bonding." Said Lincoln, still unhappy. Neither of Lincoln's friends believed that. "You gotta do something! You can't just let her do this to you!" Said Liam.
Lincoln thought about it. "Ok. I'll try talking to her." Said Lincoln as he got up from the table and went into the hallway.
As he looked for Lynn, he found Margo Roberts, Lynn's best friend, by the vending machines. "Hey Lincoln! What's up?" Margo asked. "Not much." Replied Lincoln. Margo could see and hear the unhappiness on Lincoln. "You doin' alright?" She asked. "I'm ok. I'm just looking for Lynn." Said Lincoln. "She's in the gymnasium." Replied Margo.
"Thanks Margo." Lincoln started to run towards the gym when a whistle blew. Behind him, was Lynn with her hall monitor badge and a whistle. "Where's your hall pass Stinkoln?" She asked harshly. "Lynn, it's lunch, we don't need passes during this time." Said Lincoln. "Don't play dumb with me! I asked, where's your hall pass!!" Shored Lynn. Lincoln finally had enough.
"Stop! Just stop Lynn! You've been bothering me all day and I'm drawing the line at your little hall monitor power trip!" Lincoln started walking away when Lynn grabbed Lincoln by the collar and pulled him in front of her face. "You just disrespected an officer! Nobody disrespects an officer!" Growled Lynn. Margo was surprised. "Lynn! What are you do-!" "Stay out of this! I'm dealing with a troublemaker!" Lincoln pulled himself out of Lynn's grasp and started to run, feeling a little scared.
Then, everything happened at once. Lynn jumped on Lincoln, flipped him over on the floor and pinned his back hard against a locker! What Lynn didn't realize that Lincoln's left arm was behind his back from Lynn tackling him and he couldn't move it in time!
There was a very loud snap as Lincoln's arm bent the wrong way! "AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHH!" Screamed Lincoln. Lynn immediately dropped Lincoln and saw his now broken arm. "LINCOLN! Oh my god Lincoln I'm so sorry I didn't mean t-" "WHY DO YOU HATE ME?!!?" Cried Lincoln, tears of pain and sadness flowing out of his eyes. "WHY DO YOU ALWAYS PICK ON ME!?!" "WHAT DID I DO YOU?!" Lincoln then painfully stood up and ran away down the hall crying at full blast. "Lincoln! Wait!" Cried Lynn. She started to run after him but a hard grabbed her by the back of her shirt and yanked her back.
Margo looked at Lynn in disbelief. This was not the Lynn she knew. Not by a long shot. She stared at Lynn in pure anger. "YOU INCONSIDERATE SELFISH JERK!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU DID!?" Lynn flinched. She had never heard Margo raise her voice and she did not like it. "I might not know Lincoln as well as you, but what I DO know, is that he's a kind, caring, and good hearted boy who did not deserve a sister like you! What is wrong with you?! What sister treats her little brother like a punching bag!?" Lynn looked at the floor in shock and sorrow. She still couldn't believe what she had done. Margo let go of Lynn. "I don't want to see you near him again. And if I see you trying to hurt him again, I'll break YOUR arm." And Margo left to find Lincoln.
Lynn turned around and found all the students standing there. Clyde, Stella, Zach, Rusty, and Liam looked at her in anger. Then, the sound of a throat clearing came behind her. It was Principal Ramirez. "My office. NOW." And she dragged Lynn by the arm down the hall.
Back at the house, Rita Loud was working on her parenting column for the Royal Woods Gazette. She was about to answer another question when the phone rang. "I was just getting in the zone." She sighed as she picked up the kitchen phone.
"Hello. Yes this is she. Yes he's my son. Yes she's my daughter. HE'S WHAT?! How did-. SHE DID WHAT??! I'm on my way to the hospital! Call my husband and tell him as well! Thank you." Rita grabbed the car keys and jumped into Vanzilla. She then drove as fast as she could to Royal Woods General Hospital.
At the hospital, Lincoln sat on a hospital bed with a bright blue colored cast on his arm. Margo had found him sitting in a corner and phoned for an ambulance at once. Principal Ramirez helped him to the parking lot after getting Lynn in her office. As soon as he left, she phoned Rita to tell her what happened.
As far as Lincoln was concerned, this had been the worst day of his life. Not only was his arm broken, he was sure Lynn hated him for screaming at her and worried what she would do to him when they next met.
A few minutes later, the nurse came into Lincoln's room. "Hey kiddo, there's someone here to see you." Rita came in behind her. She immediately threw her arms around her son. "Lincoln! Baby are you ok??" She asked worriedly. Lincoln nodded. He was too upset to speak. "He'll need to have that cast on him for about 3 weeks, maybe more. It was a bad break." Explained the doctor. Rita was surprised that Lynn would do this to her brother. The doctor wanted to do more X-rays to see if Lincoln was injured anywhere else after being rammed into that locker. So Rita called Lynn Sr asking him to tell the girls why Lincoln wasn't home when they arrived back from school.
Back at the school, Lynn was sitting in Principal Ramirez's office. Ramirez was making sure Lynn understood loud and clear what she did. "As punishment for your appalling behavior, you are suspended from school for the next month and your hall monitoring duties are over. And you are hereby banned from all your sports teams." Hearing this, Lynn gasped. "But, the championship! I was gonna play at the stadium! It's my dream!" "Well, you should've thought of that before you decided to use your brother as a human punching bag! End of discussion Lynn! Now out!"
Lynn slowly walked out of her office. School was already over and most of the students had already gone home. Lynn headed outside and started walking home. The image of her brother in tears and in pain still rattled her to her core. "What is wrong with me??"
Lynn Sr was in shock about what happened to Lincoln as the Loud sisters arrived. "Hi dad! Is something wrong?" Asked Luan. Lynn Sr sighed. "Girls, something happened today. And he told them all about Lincoln's injury. As he predicted, the girls were absolutely furious. But before they could start making threats, Lynn Sr held up his hands. "I know you're all mad at Lynn but I promise you, your mother and I will handle her. Lincoln's coming home in an hour and want to have a special dinner waiting for him when he gets here. "Can we help?" Asked Luna. They wanted to help their brother feel better. "Of course!" And they all went into the kitchen.
When Lynn arrived home, she found everyone busy in the kitchen. She was about to head upstairs when Lola spotted her. "YOU!! "I'M GONNA KILL YOU FOR HURTING LINKY YOU LITTLE-!" "Lola! What did I tell you!?" Cried Lynn Sr. Lola immediately relaxed. "Sorry." And she headed back to the kitchen. The father then turned to Lynn. "You. Upstairs. We'll talk when your mother comes home." Lynn quickly zipped upstairs.
Before long, Rita arrived home with Lincoln. Lincoln was still devastated and Rita was worried about him. When she opened the door, the girls immediately surrounded her trying to see Lincoln. "Lincoln!?" "Is he ok??" "Where's Linky?!" I want to hug him!!" Rita then gave a loud whistle. "Girls, Lincoln has had a very bad day and I don't want you all to overwhelm him. Just give him some space." The girls quickly back off and spread out. Lincoln walked miserably in and the girls hearts shattered upon seeing his heartbroken face.
"You ok bro?" Asked Luna. Lincoln slowly nodded. Lynn Sr carefully hugged his son. "I'm so happy you're alright. I made you some special spaghetti and meatballs." Lincoln perked up a little at that. He loved spaghetti almost as much as pizza. "You guys go eat and we'll talk with Lynn." And the two parents climbed the stairs towards Lynn's room.
Lynn was sadly sitting on her bed feeling like a complete jerk when Rita and Lynn Sr entered. "So, you get a kick out of belittling your brother? And humiliating him, and stealing from him, and hurting him??" The last one upset Lynn and she spoke up. "NO! I don't! I never wanted to hurt him! I jus-!" "Don't raise your voice at me young lady! You finally crossed the line missy and I want to make sure you know that! The principal told me everything you've done to Lincoln today! What made you think any of that was ok?!" "I never wanted this to happen!" Cried Lynn in tears. "Then what did you want Lynn!?" Shouted Lynn Sr. "I-I just wanted to have fun with Lincoln." "Well your definition of fun is way off! And another thing, why do you always pick on your brother? We never see you do any of this to your sisters. And as far as we know, he's the only one you have an insulting nickname for!" Lynn realized they were right. She always picked on Lincoln while her sisters never got any trouble from her. "I believe being banned from the city championship wasn't enough of a punishment, so starting today you're grounded for a month! And if I ever hear or see you messing with your brother again, you'll never see any sports or play any sports for a year! And just so you know, your brother's name is Lincoln, NOT STINKOLN!!" And they left the room slamming the door behind them.
Little did the parents know, Lincoln had heard everything. He had come upstairs to use the bathroom and heard his parents yells from inside. "Lynn's banned from the championship?" He said to himself in surprise. "But, that was her dream." Even with everything that had happened, Lincoln started to feel sorry for his big sister. As many people knew, Lincoln wore his heart on his sleeve and always wanted to put others before himself.
"Maybe I can find a way to help Lynn feel better." He thought as he went back downstairs. But that was easier said than done.
As everyone was getting ready for bed, Lynn kept getting menacing glares from her sisters. Even Lily. She saw Lucy taking her pillow out of her room. "Lucy? What are you doing?" Asked Lynn. "I'm not staying in the same room with someone who enjoys making people suffer. I'm bunking with Leni." Lynn began to feel even more crushed. She sadly went back to her room and silently cried. "I'm a monster."
Late that night, Lincoln lay awake thinking of how he could make Lynn feel better. Then, an idea struck him! "I'll start tomorrow." He thought.
The next morning, Lincoln headed out into town. He had some errands to do for his plan. At Liam's farm, he asked his friend for a chopped log. After that, he went to the scrapyard and found a little silver rectangular plate. He took the plate to an engraver, then he went to the wood shop to buy some glaze. As he headed back home, he found Margo on her way to the school to go to the game.
"Hi Margo." "Lincoln! How are you? You feeling ok?" She asked worriedly. "I'm ok. Same can't be said for Lynn though." He said sadly. Margo frowned upon hearing her name. She then noticed all the supplies Lincoln had collected. "What's all that for?" Margo asked curiously. "It's for something I hope will cheer Lynn up. I wanna help her feel better." Explained Lincoln. Margo was surprised. "After everything she did you still want to help her??" She said in disbelief. "Last night, I realized how sorry Lynn is for everything she had done yesterday. She's distraught because she hurt me. She thinks she's now an outcast in our family. But I want to show her that I understand it was an accident." Margo was impressed by Lincoln's heart. "Well, if you can forgive her, maybe I could do the same. Maybe." And Margo bid Lincoln goodbye as she hurried off to the school to catch the bus.
In the garage, Lincoln was busy with some of Rita and Lana's tools. He wasn't great at woodwork, but he wanted to do his best. Hours passed. His family was wondering what the man with the plan was up too, but finally, by 4:00pm, Lincoln was finished. He biked to the engraver's shop and picked up the finished plate and made one more adjustment. "I hope this works." Thought Lincoln.
Back in Lynn's room, Lynn was sitting on the floor looking down at the floor. "I wouldn't be surprised if Lincoln never spoke to me again." She said to herself sadly.
Suddenly, the door slowly opened and she saw Lincoln standing there with a wagon behind him. Lynn was definitely taken by surprise. "Hey Lynn." Said Lincoln giving a small smile. "Just leave me alone. I don't want to hurt you again." She said as she turned away." Lincoln wasn't going to give up yet. "I heard you got banned from the championship. I'm really sorry. I know how much that meant to you." Sighed Lincoln. "I don't deserve to be there. They were right to give me the boot." Said Lynn. Lincoln pulled the wagon in front of him. A tarp was covering something on it. "I made something for you." Lynn turned towards her brother as he pulled the tarp off. It was a crooked wooden trophy that had a silver plaque that read, "To my strong and beautiful sister." Lynn was confused. "What is this?" She asked.
"Even after the incident, I realize what you did was an accident. I know anger can make us do stupid things and I know that we get on each other's nerves, but what siblings don't? I wanted to show you that I still love you. And I'm happy to have you as my big sister." Lynn looked back at the wooden trophy, not saying a word. Lincoln's small smile faded.
"You don't like it, do you? I know, it's hideous." Suddenly, Lynn grabbed Lincoln and hugged him tighter than she ever had before."I love it." She said in tears. "Lincoln, I'm so, so, so, sorry! I want you to know that I love you so much! So, so much." Lincoln hugged her as well. "I know you do, you just have a, unique, way of showing it." "No! It was a stupid way. All I was doing was making your life harder. From now on, we're a team. We look out for each other. I'm especially going to be looking out for you. As a real sister would." Lincoln cried tears of happiness as the two continued to hug. Lynn then surprised Lincoln by giving him a kiss on the cheek. She regularly only showed that type of affection to Lily and Charles. "I love you Lynn." "I love you too Linky." In the hallway, Rita, Lynn Sr and the girls were touched. "C'mon, let's give them some space." Said Rita.
Lincoln and Lynn spent the whole day together outside. They talked for hours. Lynn mostly apologized for everything she did to Lincoln over the years, and Lincoln forgave her for everything. Then, Margo and the team arrived holding a big trophy. "We won! Lincoln we won!"
Then Maddie noticed Lynn. "Is she bothering you?" She asked. "No no, it's ok. I forgave her. For everything. She wants to be better to me." Explained Lincoln. The team was shocked that Lincoln forgave her so quickly. "I know I can't speak for all of you, but do you guys think you could forgive her too?" Asked Lincoln. Margo and the rest of the team looked at each other and then to Lynn.
Margo then approached Lynn and stuck out her hand. "Do-over?" She asked. Lynn smiled and shook her hand. "Do-over. And I promise I'll be a much better friend. To all of you." Margo smiled warmly. "We'll talk to Principal Ramirez and see if she can let you rejoin. Catch you later."
Later that night, Rita and Lynn Sr were upstairs tucking Lily in when they noticed Lincoln and Lynn weren't in their rooms. They went downstairs and they saw something that made their hearts melt. Lynn had her arms wrapped around her little brother and was holding his hand as they slept. Rita pulled a blanket over them and kissed their foreheads. "Goodnight, my sweeties."
Just like yesterday, Lincoln and Lynn spent all day together playing board games, watching sci-fi movies, and kicking a soccer ball around in the backyard. Lincoln put in a good word for Lynn at the the Principal's office and with a few conditions, Lynn was allowed to rejoin a few weeks after her suspension. Lynn was still grounded at home, but her parents were pleased at how hard Lynn was working to be a good sister and teammate. And ever since that fateful day, Lynn promised she would always put her brother first and remind him how much she loves him as Lincoln does for her.
THE END
Hope you all enjoyed my first one shot loud house story. :)
