One sunny Saturday morning a eighteen year old Kari stepped naked out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself and headed to her bedroom. Kari sat down in front of her vanity mirror and put on some makeup and perfume. After which she slipped on a short pink sundress with matching shoes. She grabbed her purse and walked to the living room.
"Oh my," said Yuuko stepping out from the kitchen with a bowl of fresh salad in hand. "Don't you look nice sweetie."
"Thanks mom," Kari replied. "I have a date with TK and I want to look my best."
"Well I'm sure you'll knock him dead. After all you are my daughter," Yuuko told her.
"Thanks mom," she responded glancing down at the bowl in her hands. "What are you making?"
"I have a pot luck to go to and I said I'd bring a salad," informed Yuuko.
"What kind of salad," questioned Kari.
"Seaweed and prunes," she answered.
"Yum," said Kari sarcastically.
"Well have fun on your date," stated Yuuko. "I won't be home till later tonight. So don't wait up for me."
Kari thanked her mother and exited the apartment. She then caught the local bus to the local teppanyaki restaurant. She sat down beside TK in front of a flat top girl.
"You look nice," TK complimented her.
"Thanks," Kari blushed. "You look good too. Very handsome."
TK wore a pair of long brown pants with a green top.
A male chef approached them from behind the grill.
"Welcome young couple," the chef happily greeted them. "What will it be?"
TK and Kari placed their orders and the chef went to work preparing their food. TK and Kari spent the next hour eating and drinking together before Kari suggested they take a walk into the park together. TK paid for their meal and they soon found themselves strolling hand and hand through the city park. The park was alive with new mothers pushing baby stroller. A group of old kids where playing with trading cards and a few adult men where tending to the Sakura trees that were in full bloom. TK and Kari sat down on a nearby bench and held hands.
"The cherry blossom are beautiful," observed Kari as a soft breeze blew through the air carrying the many pink pedals with it.
"They're not as beautiful as you," TK commented picking up a nearby cherry blossom off the ground and slipping it into her hair.
Kari smiled and TK leaned in to kiss her lips.
"Are we interrupting something," a voice asked.
TK and Kari looked up to see a twenty one year old Mimi and Sora standing before them. They both wore spring kimonos.
"Oh. Hi gals," Kari greeted them. "What you doing here?"
"Sora and I went to a photo shoot together," Mimi informed. "We modeled a new spring line up from an up coming magazine."
"Are you two on a date," inquired Sora.
Kari nodded and offered her friends to them.
"We wouldn't want to intrude," Sora stated.
"Nonsense," please join us," TK cut in.
Mimi and Sora seated themselves beside them on the bench and they all spent the next several minutes talking. A clap of thunder rolled across the sky and torrents of icy rain stated to fall.
"Come on," said Kari standing up. "My apartments not far from here. We can wait out the storm there."
Kari TK Sora and Miim all hurried down the street getting soaked to the bone. They jogged up the steps to Kari's apartment and went inside. TK Sora and Mimi sat down in the living room and Kari walked to the bathroom. She returned a minute later a dry towels for everyone. They all dried off and the rains increased.
"Where's your parents and Tai," inquired Sora.
"My brother and dad are gone on a camping trip," Kari remarked. "They won't be back till tomorrow evening and my won't be home till late tonight."
"Can you turn the heater on," asked Mimi still feeling cold.
"No. Sorry but it's broken," Kari informed. "But I think I know another way we can get warmed up. Just wait right here."
Kari walked to the kitchen and returned a moment later with a bottle of Saki and four shot glasses.
"How'd you get that," asked TK.
"I picked the lock on the liquor cabinet," said Kari.
Kari sat down beside TK and poured everyone a drink.
"If our parents caught us drinking like this they'd have our heads," Sora stated.
"Oh. Come on. This isn't the first time we've all snuck a drink," TK remind her. "Remember when we we're all in junior high school and Davis's dad was throwing that new years party as his house. Davis stole a bottle of liquor from the kitchen and we all hide inside the tool shed. We took turns passing the bottle around and doing shots.
"TK. It was a bottle of strawberry schnapps and you puked after your first swig," Mimi told him.
TK smiled and rolled his eyes.
They continued to drink and chat with each other for the next hour before TK made a suggestion.
