TVD Cinderella
Our story starts in a kingdom named Mystic Falls where magic and supernatural creatures lived in harmony with humans. Witches were among those living in the town. They were peaceful and communed with the natural world around them, offering assistance for anyone who needed it. Werewolves and vampires also peacefully inhabited the kingdom ruled by King Damon and Queen Elena.
A manor sat at the end of the village, surrounded by walls and a gate at the entrance. A prominent witch family lived there named the Bennetts, but they weren't stuck up or acted snobby. Everyone in the village loved them because they offered to help when needed and gave back to their community in forms of charity. They made the town a much happier and safer place to live, protecting it from dangers such as rogue vampires or werewolves.
The Bennetts had a beautiful daughter named Bonnie who's heart was as pure as gold. She couldn't turn down anyone in need of assistance, no matter how big or small the situation. Although Bonnie was wealthy, she never acted like it. She had friends from all ranks, even down to the prisoners. Her parents loved and adored her, making sure to give her anything she could ever need in order to be happy. In turn Bonnie used her magic powers to make her parents' lives easier.
However their happiness ended when Lord Bennett fell ill with a fever. Bonnie's mother called the family doctor, only to be told her husband's condition had gotten worse. As the days passed, Bonnie's father became sicker and sicker. Her mother was so distraught that she barely ate, having her meals brought to her room instead. It left Bonnie to have her meals by herself since her mother asked not to be disturbed. It seemed like nothing could be done and sadly Lord Bennett passed away two days before his daughter's birthday.
Lady Bennett, overwhelmed with grief for her deceased husband, didn't speak to a single soul for weeks. Not even to her own daughter who wanted so very badly to comfort her mother but wasn't allowed to come into her chambers. Bonnie felt so alone in her house and worried constantly for Lady Bennett's safety and well being. All she wanted to do was run and hug her mother tight and be reassured that all would be well.
Bonnie's wish would be granted several days later when she was on the floor in front of her parents bedroom door, playing with her toys under the supervision of the maids who served her family. A creak was heard, causing Bonnie to look up and see her mother standing in the doorway looking as beautiful as ever. Lady Bennett turned her gaze to her daughter, tears brimming in the corners of her eyes. Before she could blink, her mother scooped her up into an embrace, burying her face into Bonnie's cheek. They stayed like that for a few moments, Lady Bennett wetting her daughter's dress with her tears. Bonnie returned it as only a five year-old could do. She never wanted to let her mother go again.
Lady Bennett, her grief subsiding after she spent more time with her daughter, decided it was time to look for another husband. Immediately letters were sent all across the land to every kingdom, some even across the ocean. Thousands upon thousands of return messages flooded the manor with Bonnie at one point counting almost 100 in a single day. She helped her mother read them too, giving her honest opinion when she didn't like the one she was reading.
When it came time to meet the suitors, Bonnie accompanied Lady Bennett with almost all of them. Some of the men, as handsome as they were, didn't particularly like that there would be a child hanging about while they were trying to seduce her mother. For those types, Bonnie was sent to her room where she would spy on them from her window overlooking the gardens, making sure there wouldn't be any 'funny business' going on.
One day a fancy looking carriage rolled up to the manor and out stepped an exquisite looking brown-haired young man. Bonnie watched from a window as his brown eyes surveyed his surroundings, feeling chills go up her spine. Glancing over to the carriage door, she watched as it opened and out stepped two little girls about her age. One had the most beautiful dark brown hair in tight curls, wearing a dark purple dress. She almost looked like one of Bonnie's dolls because she was so pretty. The second one had paler skin than her sister, a pointed nose, and was wearing a blue dress with a matching bow in her curly blonde hair.
Suddenly Bonnie noticed the man, who looked like a teenager, glance up at her window. His mouth formed a smirk, his upper lip lifting to reveal gleaming pointed canines. In a flash he put his lip down but Bonnie observed, horrified.
He was a vampire!
She was about to rush to tell her mother what she had seen until she heard the doors to the manor open. Lady Bennett's voice reached Bonnie's ears and she seemed happy. Bonnie went back to the window, watching as the dashing young man took her mother's hand in his, kissing it. Bonnie couldn't hear the conversation but she noticed how Lady Bennett and the suitor got along quite well.
Too well.
She still seemed suspicious of this stranger after what she saw earlier. However her mother seemed happy and that happiness is what Bonnie wanted above everything else. Watching as the man introduced what she could only assume were his daughters, the one in the blue dress with the blonde hair giggled and curtseyed but the girl in the purple dress did not look amused. Her tiny lips were in a pout as she glared at Bonnie's mother.
Bonnie decided she didn't like that sister.
The man quickly knelt down to his daughter's level, taking hold of her chin. It looked like he whispered something to her before he let go and stood back up. His daughter's face was downcast, but when she lifted her head only embarrassment was shown.
Bonnie heard the doors open and turned her head to watch as her mother, the man, and his daughters were followed by the staff as they walked in. The man glanced over and before Bonnie could blink he was knelt right in front of her.
To say this man was handsome would have been an understatement. His feathery brown hair curled at the ends as he squinted his gorgeous brown eyes to see her. The vampire smiled charmingly at a frozen Bonnie, extending his hand.
"Hello sweetheart. My name is Kol Mikaelson. What might your name be?"
Bonnie didn't know what to do next. This man seemed dangerous and it frightened her. But then she remembered her mother and the will to make her happy. However in the back of her mind she noticed there was something different about Kol…something darker.
Her body trembling, she plastered on a polite smile and held out her small hand only for it to be clasped in Kol's larger one.
"M-my name's B-Bonnie my lord." Her smile held up but her body screamed to run. But it would be letting her mother down, which Bonnie didn't want to do.
Kol gave her a warm smile, then stepped back revealing his daughters who were behind him. "Bonnie, I would like you to meet my daughters Caroline." The blonde one giggled again and curtseyed. "And Katherine." He gestured to the young girl who had pouted at Bonnie's mother.
Both Bonnie's and Katherine's gazes locked on to one another. Katherine's dark brown eyes were furious as she stared at this strange girl with utter contempt. Bonnie decided she was going to introduce herself to her guest. She held her hand forward towards Katherine in a harmless handshake only for it to be slapped away.
Shocked and scared, Bonnie took a step back as Katherine glared in her direction.
"Don't touch me." The little vampire growled, narrowing her eyes as if looks could kill.
"Katerina!"
Bonnie noticed the way Katherine's face twitched slightly at her father's tone of voice. Tears sprung to her eyes before she ran and clung to Kol's pants leg, sobbing because she had gotten in trouble.
Kol merely sighed, kneeling down again to comfort his daughter, pulling out a silk monogrammed handkerchief to wipe her face with. It seemed to console Katherine, which was a good thing.
Bonnie watched as Kol whispered something to Katherine, who nodded sadly then turned towards her. Stepping forward a bit with her father's hand on her back, the young vampire stared at the ground in front of Bonnie, mumbling what sounded like an apology.
"Katerina…" her father warned. He wasn't dealing with anymore foolishness from his eldest daughter, especially in front of the woman he was trying to court.
Katherine flinched, lifting her head up to face Bonnie, who was incredibly confused as to why this girl hated her. They had never even met before!
"I-" Katherine began, playing with her hair as she rocked back and forth on her heels. "I'm sorry ok? Can I go now Papa, please?" she gazed up at Kol, batting her long eyelashes like she always did when she was in trouble.
Kol smirked at his little girl, crouching down to kiss her on the forehead. "I am very proud of you Katerina. You and Caroline can go play as soon as Bonnie gives you forgiveness. Can you do that darling?"
This made Katherine pout again. She didn't want to wait! All she wanted to do was go play with her sister somewhere where they wouldn't have to listen to the grownups. Patience wasn't the vampire's strong suit but for the sake of not getting in even more trouble she supposed she could hear what the witch had to say.
Bonnie heard her apology and walked towards hopefully her new friend, embracing Katherine in a hug with a smile. Katherine's eyes widened, not expecting this at all, but begrudgingly she returned the hug, much to Kol's pleasure.
Bonnie squeezed her new friend tighter. "I accept your apology. Please be my friend?"
The question made Katherine uncertain and she turned her head to gaze at Kol, who nodded his head firmly, giving her a wink at the end. Katherine turned back around and put on her best fake smile, returning the squeeze hug.
"Yeah let's be friends!"
Bonnie's face lit up happily. She hadn't had anyone to play with her that was her own age! Before Katherine could react, the witch child had grabbed her hand, almost dragging her over where Caroline was playing with some dolls on the floor. The family maids were there along with some other servants who Bonnie didn't recognize, supervising their young charges.
While the girls were occupied, Kol watched the scene, his eyes locked on Bonnie. A sly smirk formed at the thought of his plan coming to fruition. He had Bonnie in the palm of his hand and next was her mother.
Then once Kol's found what he's been coveting for decades, nothing would stop him from ruling Mystic Falls entirely!
(To Be Continued…)
Well hello again! Its been a while! This is my very first story for the TVD/Originals fandom. I actually came up with this idea from watching a lot of Kol edits and figuring out that he is severely underused in both shows. He's my favorite character so I'm a little biased. Plus Nate seems like such a sweetheart in real life! He's also very gorgeous as well! Kol and Katherine are my guilty ship! But I also adore Kennett! (Don't @ me Kolvina stans!) Anyway I'm not sure how this idea of him being the evil stepfather came to be but it might be because I enjoy seeing him as a bad guy (Which is what he prefers as well!)
Hope you guys enjoy this story that I managed to write the chapter of in one day! (Yay waking up at 3 am!) There will be other characters showing up soon so you will just have to wait and see!
RxR!
