Prologue
It was the nicest thing she'd slept on in months. They were on their way to the pickup spot, Master Qui-Gon had allowed them to stay in a village now that the bounty on Satine's head had been lifted. Currently, a soft sprinkle of rain damped the thatched straw roof, but no water dripped onto her head. The walls were made of thick stalks of some strange reeds that grew along the river's edge not far from here, where she and Obi-Wan had played before the storm began. Speaking of Obi-Wan, he was hogging the blanket.
Snuggling up to him, Satine tugged on the scratchy barn sack blanket.
"Ben," she whined.
Obi-Wan hummed in the back of his throat and smiled, "What is it, darling?"
"I'm cold." Satine ployed.
Obi-Wan sighed and rolled over, a twinkle in his eye, "Well, what are we going to do about that?"
"I don't know, Ben," Satine raised an eyebrow, "have any ideas?"
Obi-Wan cocked his head, faking a pensive gaze and taking in her naked body, "I think I might know."
Obi-Wan pulled Satine to him, she smiled into his shoulder, pressing her lips to his exposed skin.
"Satine?"
"What is it?" Satine asked, sensing unease in Obi-Wan.
"Master Qui-Gon is returning."
Satine groaned, "Bastard."
Obi-Wan laughed, using the force to pull his shirt to him, "He never leaves for too long, does he?"
"Unfortunately not." Satine agreed.
This wasn't the first time they'd pushed themselves onto each other while Master Qui-Gon was out, it had been happening for the last two weeks. When he needed to resupply rations, or went off to meditate, Obi-Wan and Satine would wait until he was out of earshot and strip each other.
"Darling," Satine felt Obi-Wan smile, "your pants are that way."
She turned around, Obi-Wan was pointing across the room.
"Very funny."
Using the force, Obi-Wan yanked Satine's pants away from her, towards him.
"Ben-"
"Come get it." Obi-Wan challenged.
Fortunately, Satine zipped up her pants just as Master Qui-Gon entered the hut.
"Obi-Wan, Satine," the Jedi Master greeted, "we must get going."
