Prologue: Visions of the Future, Shadows of the Past
Since the day Earth and Mewni became a fused reality because of the actions caused by Star Butterfly, the previous princess of the magical realm, things had been very touch and go between the humans, Mewmans, monsters and other creatures that now had to share a world together from now on. However, Star and her then boyfriend, Marco Diaz, worked together with officials from both sides and were able to create a truce between the citizens and life had never been the same since said truce was in effect. Now, schools across the planet adapted to having magical creature students and faculty, many of the Mewmans were able to adjust to Earth's technological trends and the monsters were able to find peace with both types of humans as they developed new homes and better lives for themselves. On top of the changes, Marco's hometown of Echo Creek agreed to share its name with the magical creatures now living there, dubbing it "Mewni Creek" going forward. It is now a good twenty years since the worlds were fused and, still to her surprise, Star Butterfly became a teacher at Mewni Creek Elementary School. She is easily loved by her students and had quickly become the favorite teacher of all the kids. In said time, she also married Marco and adopted the new name of "Star Butterfly Diaz", bearing two children of her own.
~ Mewni Creek Elementary | Early Afternoon ~
Another day of teaching has wrapped up for Star as she said goodbye to her students and headed out to the parking lot after she clocked out for the day. But as she exited the building and walked down the stairs, a gentle breeze blew past her as she stopped and watched a lone leaf flutter by her before, carried by the wind, it headed towards the city.
"Wonder where you're going?" she thought. Before continuing on, she opened up her pocket book and took out a small mirror. Feeling something was amiss, she used it to examine her face but was unable to find any trace of the heart marks that once resided on her cheeks. She even rubbed them with her fingertips before letting out a sigh.
"Why do I even bother? I KNOW they aren't coming back." she muttered. As she put the mirror away, she then caught notice of a pair of glossed pictures in her purse. She drew them out before a smile grew upon examining them. The photo on top was of the day Marco proposed to Star, the two having been caught offguard by his parents having taken their picture. Beneath it was a recent family portrait of her with her giant family, including the likes of Marco's parents with Moon and River, Eclipsa and Globgor, teenage Meteora and Mariposa. But in the picture as well was their twin children, one boy and one girl with each taking after their respective parent. Seeing her family picture brought a tear to her eye, soon wiped away before she tucked away the pictures. She then took a deep breath, relaxing herself as she took out her car keys.
"Still…it was worth it. Then again, it's not like I don't ENTIRELY miss the old days. But, right now, at this point in my life…I don't need magic. After all, I have probably the BIGGEST family ever. What's to be ashamed of there? "Familia love" is MY magic now…especially with Marco there by my side." she said, pressing the unlock button. She climbed inside the driver's seat and set her bag on the other seat and clicked her seat belt in place. As she started up her car, she opened the window as she pulled out shortly after. While driving, she caught notice of the town's mixed culture citizens walking down the sidewalks, nonchalantly talking with each other and some sharing friendly noogies and fist bumps. Her car came to a stop at a crosswalk, halted by a red light, before glancing up at the sky above her.
"Stay awesome, Mewni Creek." she muttered.
~ Abandoned Stone Building | Deep Within Mewni Woods ~
Elsewhere in the city, the ruins of an old piece of Mewni Castle stood in the darkest parts of the forest. And living among the weeds, plants and wild animals, a figure dressed in a rotten old cloth marched towards the broken down entrance, carrying a broken down hand basket in one hand. But before entering, the figure stopped when it felt something watching, turning to see a large bear growling back. Pulling back its hood, the figure revealed itself as a slightly wrinkled version of Mina Loveberry, Star's former idol now full time villain. As the bear continued growling, Mina let out a massive roar, influenced by her former Solarian powers. The shock was enough to drive away the bear before she pulled her hood back over her head.
"Hmph. COWARD." she said. She then halted again when she noticed a lone butterfly fanning its wings atop a flower. The sight of it caused her to snarl, envisioning Star's determined face staring back at her. She swiftly stomped the flower into the ground with her foot, but the butterfly had escaped in time and flew away, leaving Mina to watch. Her anger bubbled more before she angrily punched at the wall of the tower, smashing a good chunk to rubble. She glanced at her arm, feeling only enough of her old Solarian powers to give her abnormal strength.
"I swear, Star Butterfly…I WILL get my powers back. And when I do, I WILL hunt you and your MONSTER family down and, after beating you within an INCH of your life, will make you watch as I slaughter every last one before sending YOU off with them. Then…only then….can I fix what you ruined." she muttered. She momentarily glared at her basket, emitting a strange sinister aura beneath a sheet, before walking inside.
And So It Begins…
