A/N: Hey everyone! Welcome to the (very short, don't worry I make up for it in the first chapter) Intro chapter of The Mariner Series. If you have not read the one-shot Sea Glass I would highly suggest you go back and do that as it is a prequel to this story, but it is not absolutely necessary. Second thing, as this is not the story I am focusing hard on at the moment, the updates may not be weekly as I normally attempt. They will be posted when they are posted. But, even if it takes me years (it has happened) I will finish it if at all possible. The last time it took me years I was dealing with nearly dying (literally bedridden and out of my head with fever) so you can see, I actually had a reason.

Lightning Glass

Intro

They say lightning will never strike the same place twice. They also say that glass is fragile. Maybe they're right and maybe they're wrong. That's not for me to decide.

But both are still strong enough to kill you.

I'll never forget the day lightning began striking. Years before the Mocking Jay began singing in thirteen, Lighting began striking in district four. Clearing the way for the bird to sing. No one but me knows how it began. And I swear I'll never forget. Because it first struck me.

My mother often laughs when I tell the story to my children. Because she remembers the day I said I would marry My Lightning.

But that wasn't the day it began. It was after that. Nearly two years after my games. Soon after the capital began using me to slake its darkest desires. My Lighting says that ancient gladiators were used the same way, and I should feel no shame, for she has no pity for me. I need none, she says, because like the ocean that she named me after I am unbroken.

My name is Finnick Odair. But she calls me Aegir because I have earned my name.
