It should have been the happiest day in Hermione's life. She was marrying her best friend, wasn't that what she'd always dreamed about, finding someone to love? Ron had always been there, except when he wasn't, but she had pushed past that, pushed past what had happened in the forest. It had been a misunderstanding, that's all.

Turning her attention back to the silver framed mirror in front of her, Hermione gave her reflection a weak smile. Ginny and Luna had spent the last hour making sure her hair and make up was perfect. Crying now would undo all their hard work.

"You don't want to marry him, do you?" Luna asked, reappearing in the doorway. She and Ginny had gone to check on something.

"That obvious?" Hermione asked, wondering if everyone else would see right through her.

"Only to me, and maybe two other people. Why are you going through with this if you don't want to?" she asked.

"I have to."

"Why? Is it because you think you owe him something? Is it because you're afraid to stand up for yourself? You used to be very brave," Luna asked.

"I don't know anymore. I thought this was what I wanted, that everything would just fall into place."

"You thought you'd grow to love him?"

"Yes," Hermione whispered. "It could still happen, right?"

"I've seen stranger, but don't you owe it to yourself to find happiness, not something that might become what you want."

"What I want isn't possible."

"How do you know?" Luna asked, sitting down on the floor next to Hermione's chair.

"Because the man I loved, truly loved, he's dead. There's no coming back from that, he didn't even know how I felt," Hermione whispered. Luna nodded slowly, as if thinking deeply about something.

"There might be a way," she finally said, "but it's not going to be easy"

"No one comes back from the dead, and even if they do, they're not the same."

"I'm not talking about necromancy, although...it is possible, no I'm talking about something much more dangerous," Luna answered, pulling a chain from her bag. Hermione's eyes widened at the time turner hanging from it.

"Horrible things happen to wizards who mess with time."

"Yes, but would it be worth it? Go back to that one moment, change one little thing? If it means you finding your happiness, would you think about it, be tempted?" Luna asked. Hermione nodded, reaching out and taking the turner.

"Where did you even get this? I thought we'd destroyed all of them our fifth year?"

"You'd be surprised what people keep secreted away in their attics," Luna answered cryptically. "It still works perfectly, if you're worried about that. Don't worry, you won't mess up. I know you can do it, save him."

Hermione bit her lip looking at the time turner. She knew Luna was right, she could do it, she could change all of this, make it right, how it was always supposed to be. Her eyes were sparkling with tears at the idea of saving him.

"Three turns, you'll be where you want to be," Luna said, putting her hand on Hermione's. "I'll keep them busy until you get back, although, once you get back...things will be different," she added with a smile.

"I don't know, it's just..."

"You think I'm wrong, but I know I'm right, trust me, Hermione," Luna promised.

Hermione bit her lip, nodded, and spun the turner, watching as the world moved in reverse around her. She could see Luna's face blur, could see her friend smiling. A small part of her wondered why Luna was doing this, but Luna was her friend and if Luna'd been about to do something she'd regret, wouldn't Hermione have stopped her by any means possible?

The first thing she heard was yelling, screaming, spells being fired across the room. Hermione looked around, realizing she'd not changed out of her wedding dress. Quickly she transfigured the dress into a pair of jeans and a white fluffy jumper. She also blurred her face, she couldn't afford anyone to recognize her, not here, not now. She could see herself, her past self, in the thick of the fight. There were Death Eaters everywhere.

"At least it hasn't happened yet," she whispered, realizing this was just after the battle had started. She still had time to save him.

She watched as everyone rushed around, spells ricocheting around. Taking only a second to clear her head, to remember where she needed to be, she rushed that direction, casting shield charms as she ran. She heard a few spells bounce off her charms. She only hoped that they didn't hit anyone important.

That's when she saw him. There he was, standing there, unaware of the danger that he was truly in. Her heart pounded in her chest. She wondered what would happen after she did this, would he realize he loved her? Would she be able to confess her feelings to him? It didn't matter at the moment, right now, she had to save him. Hermione heard the spell being uttered, heard it coming.

With one burst of fury at what had happened, Hermione threw spell after spell, colors mixing, blues and reds and greens, reflecting the one that would have caused the wall to crash down, hitting the masked wizard who had cast it. She saw him look her direction. For a moment she as paralyzed, her breath caught in her chest, her heart paused midbeat. He didn't recognize her, and turned his attention back to the battle. Hermione sighed in relief. She turned away quickly, running to find a secluded place to spin the turner, to find out if she'd saved the man she loved.

The room came into focus. Luna was still sitting on the floor, the skirt of her lavender dress pooled around her legs.

"Easy," she said, rising to her feet and catching a very dizzy Hermione.

"Did it work?" Hermione asked, realizing her clothing had transformed back into her white wedding gown. Luna nodded.

"It worked. Everything is how you wanted it to be," Luna answered, giving Hermione a huge smile. Hermione returned it shakingly.

"But nothing seems different," Hermione whispered, looking around the room. Her reflection was the same, the same make up, the same cascading mess of curls coming from the diamond tiara.

"The cosmetics didn't change, no, but trust me, Hermione. It's changed," Luna stated, holding up her left hand. Hermione's eyes widened seeing a simple silver band decorating Luna's ring finger.

"You're married?!"

"Last year, it'll take time for the memories to catch up, but I know they will. Now, are you ready to marry the love of your life?" Luna asked. Hermione sank into the chair, her heart pounding. Slowly, a smile crossed her face. She wasn't dreading walking down the alter anymore, in face, she was nearly giddy with excitement. How suddenly everything had changed. She still couldn't remember everything that had happened, but she knew she was no longer dreading anything.

"I'm ready," she stated, rising back to her feet as she heard the music start to swell. Ginny threw open the door.

"They're waiting on you," she announced, leading Hermione from the room. Luna trailed them. Hermione's hands trembled as she held the bouquet of flowers. She wondered idly when she'd decided to have lime green mums in her bouquet, but she was sure she'd agreed to it. She watched Luna and Ginny walk through the doors. She followed them, stepping into the large room. She could feel everyone looking at her, staring slightly. She smiled taking another step and then another. Finally she reached the front and turned to face her future husband. She took in his blue tuxedo, the white and lime flowers sticking from his pocket. Her eyes traveled up to his face, his longish red hair, the smile on his face, his sparkling blue eyes.

"We are gathered here today to unite Hermione Granger and Fred Weasley in matrimony," Kingsley announced. Hermione looked into Fred's eyes. He looked into hers and flashed her a large smile. Her entire body seemed to buzz with emotion, with love for the wizard in front of her. The whole ceremony flew by, Hermione and Fred exchanging their vows.

Everything was blur up until Fred's lips met hers. In that moment, the world stopped for the couple. Slowly, they pulled apart to the cheering of their friends and family. Hermione looked out at the crowd and noticed Luna and Ron holding hands. She nearly burst out laughing at how perfectly everything seemed to have turned out, not just for her and Fred, but for Luna as well.

"I love you," she whispered to Fred.

"I love you too, Hermione," he replied, taking her hand in his. Yes, everything had worked out perfectly.
