Hey guys, I've been wanting to write this story for years now, and never got to it. Well now I decided to give it a try and see where it will end up. I'm in the middle of so many stories so bare with me if I don't update right away. Please give me feedback! I'm more motivated when I know somebody is reading and enjoying the fanfic.

Prologue

Being a half-demon means you are not a demon, and it means you are not human. You are either a human or a demon, but as a half-demon? You are neither one. Being a full demon means power and being human means weakness. Yeah, being a half-demon means you have some power; but it isn't enough.

Getting picked on is normal when you are a half-demon. You are hated by humans because you are part demon, and you are hated by demons because you are part human. Bullying, torture, and hatred all come together when you are a half-demon.

I refuse to let my human traits make me weak, and I will continue to fight till I am just as powerful as a demon.

"It's the one time you turn human, right? It's because of the new moon, right?"

He laid there weakly on the cold ground and gazed up at the girl who was tending to his wound. Being human meant that a bite in the shoulder by a bat-demon would not heal on its own.

Her face was hard to make out in the dark night, but her eyes were bright blue, and she was staring down at him, waiting for his response, even if she knew what the answer was. "How did you know?" he asked.

She patched up his shoulder slowly and kept her eyes on it. "You said you were a half-demon," she replied, "and right now you are all human."

The boy eyed her ever so suspiciously, but there didn't seem to be a threatening look in the girl's eyes. In fact, she looked soft and innocent. "Yeah, well," he said with a smirk, "This won't last forever."

"Yeah, well," she mocked him, "you should really take better care of yourself during this time. It's not safe out here."

He knew now that this girl had strong compassion. However, it was not going to stop his stubbornness. If it meant searching for something he wanted, or attempting to save someone he cared about, he was going to face danger.

After she finished patching his wound, the girl stood from her knees and looked up at the black sky. She was slightly short, meaning she was a child, but mature at the same time.

The boy didn't know exactly how to reveal her, but he tried to not focus on that. There was a chance he would never see this girl again.

"What's your name?" she asked, not looking at him.

He slowly sat up and eyed her. Seeing that she was not looking at him directly, it was almost as if she didn't care who he was. However, it looked like her patience was leaving her because she turned away and started off.

The boy wouldn't dare say who he was while being human. He wouldn't want anyone to know when he became weak. Tell her my name is InuYasha? Hn, yeah right.

"I'll find out sooner or later," she said as she trailed off.

The boy used the sheath of his sword to pull himself up. He wasn't frightened by that girl's promise or threat. Afterall, she did help him, and it didn't look like she wanted to harm him. Still, the word could get out, and he wasn't going to risk it.

Being a half-demon means limited friends and more enemies. Watch your back.
