Jo was absently scratching the base of Kolya's ears, both sprawled across the squashy sofa, when the contents of Professor McGonagall's morning visit and her Hogwarts Acceptance letter lying open on the coffee table violently slammed her thoughts to screeching halt.
As her heart throbbed one time too intensely, she blinked to the ceiling as dust-speckled streams of afternoon sunlight poured through the bay window.
Such a petrifying revelation and yet... yet she seemed so exceedingly calm.
"Am I really not in coma?" She couldn't help but croak in Kolya's ear, peering down into his gorgeous sapphire eyes when he elegantly lifted his head from her shoulder.
He leaned forward and nudged his cheek against hers. A deep, anchoring purr rumbled from his chest as Jo carded her fingers through his silken coat of long white fur. A soft, tired sigh spilled from her lips as her dark brown eyes fluttered shut.
She really had reincarnated into Harry Potter.
