An uncharted island in international waters which was filled with lush green hills and plenty of wildlife; there was an abandoned lab that had dead bodies and destroyed equipment. It was only because of how advanced and extra fortified the place was that it was still standing.
The island was the home of a figure that zoomed all through the island with the biggest grin on his face and a carefree attitude. It was a small anthropomorphic 6 year old blue furred hedgehog that was the most advanced resident of the entire island and the result of experiments that had transpired in the lab.
The hedgehog lived in the lab where there was a working DVD player, a CD player and a bunch of movies, TV shows and music that the staff at the lab had brought themselves for entertainment, along with the working computers that had some of the logs of staff members. The hedgehog had watched them and was able to learn how to speak and read through them and the books that they had even if he didn't understand the words.
The logs revealed that the scientists were working for a government organisation creating serums that would help stimulate running and muscle speed along with other projects including the possibility of advanced animals through contact with human DNA which could lead them to human like intellect. They were also studying a newly discovered potential power source that the staff called 'Chaos'.
the main scientist a Doctor Paulie Parlouzer was leading the logs and of him saying that he had rescued a newly born baby brown furred hedgehog whose mother had died in childbirth, who seemed quite ill and that Doctor Parlouzer was hoping to use their experiments . The fast hedgehog remembered when he was that baby brown hedgehog, there was a surge from a lightning storm and the hedgehog ended up endowed by their serums which had been mutated from the power source.
They had stopped their videos featuring the hedgehog as they studied the miraculously transformed hedgehog as he spouted human like arms and feet and his fur had turned blue with him growing.
However the hedgehog didn't know what happened after that as there were no remaining logs after that, some talked about how a Doctor Robotnik was in charge of the machinery and studying the power source but he couldn't gather much from that. Without the humans or anyone really he could talk to, he was all alone. In the freezer there was one last vial of the serum that was mutated by the Chaos power source and a blood vial of one of the scientists called Doctor Miles Prowler. He thought about that one day he might try making someone new to talk to.
He did his best to live life on the island, watching the entertainment and taking runs around the island, helping animals from predators. He liked the action movies filled with heroes who were out helping people and stopping bad guys. He liked to imitate the heroes from the movies and thought about wanting to adventure outside the island if he could one day.
With headphones on, he was listening to a CD music player playing one of his favourite songs It Doesn't Matter, he loved the sound of it and the idea of following his own way regardless of what people may think of him. The movies had people who hated what they didn't understand but he decided he wouldn't let that stop him from being who he is.
While zooming across the forest he came across a wolf attacking a mother fox and it's mate who were defending their new baby and was helpless against the wolf. The hedgehog what arrived jsut in time to see the adult foxes fall prey to the wolf.
He grew mad as he hated those who picked on those weaker than them and would take action against predators, he then ran and got himself into a ball from attacking the wolf sending it back. "Who don't you pick on someone your own size?" the hedgehog told the wolf glaring at him and the wolf snarled at him as it charged. The hedgehog then started punching it at great speed sending it flying a few feet, having felt the blue electric energy from the hedgehog's quills.
The wolf ran away terrified as the hedgehog shook his head, bullies dished it out but couldn't take their own medicine. He looked and his eyes widened as the little baby crying fox and to his surprise he saw from a birth defect it had two tails. He picked it up into his hands as he looked to its parents and he looked in dismay as they succumbed to their injuries.
"Sorry little guy, they didn't make it..." the hedgehog thought as he gotten flashes of his own mother dying so soon after he was born only to be taken in by Doctor Parlouzer, "Don't worry little guy, you won't be all alone. I am going to be your family now..." The hedgehog said holding the fox tightly in his arms as he ran back to the lab.
The poor fox cub was shaken as The hedgehog let go and apologised to it sheepishly, he went to teh fridge and pulled out the blood sample and the vial of the animal serum, mixing them together. He fed the mixture to the fox while rocking him in his arms and said "You are going to need a name for me to call you now... How about... Tails? Sorry I am not good with names..."
Tails' fur turned bright yellow as he grew to his new size and the hedgehog helped him take his first steps on two feet, making him feel quite proud of him. He taught Tails to read and Tails gravitated to the advanced science books that the hedgehog never really bothered with.
After a month or so after taking Tails back to the lab and giving him the serum, the hedgehog started showing Tails the log of the scientists noticing him transformation calling him supersonic, Tails pointed to the hedgehog and then the hedgehog in the video. "Sonic." Tails spoke his first word from the footage. The hedgehog blinked and was quite proud but realised that he had never really bothered with giving himself a name due to having no one else to talk to. But he quite liked the name Sonic.
"Yeah Tails buddy, that's me Sonic!" Sonic said with a big smile
My latest attempt at a Sonic reboot but this time I decided I wanted to do away from the alien origin idea for him even though that's how I prefer explanations for Sonic and his kind. On Youtube the Artist Mark Flynn on his channel put together his own concept for a Sonic reboot which had him as a lab experiment and I suggest checking it out even if there are some concepts I don't like such as having Sonic mute. Plus you might be asking for this story how does Sonic's music player and devices still have power, well how does Star Lord's walkman still have power after all those decades? So yeah my idea for a new Sonic origin is a little Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles esque.
For the look of Sonic think of the movie designs for both him and Tails, Sonic will be like Baby Sonic from the movie only taller and a little younger for this first chapter.
