SNL comedy skit spoofing the "Take on me" 80s music video. The main guy in the video serenades the girl. You see comic book figures drawn of them. They look at each through a window that shows the real world version of themselves to each other. Two other members of the band are seen playing the guitar and keyboard. For a hot minute everything's hunky-dory. Then the couple gets attacked, with a wrench, by race car drivers, they smash the window. The lead singer grabs the girl and puts her behind him, protecting her. He dodges a wrench swing from the attackers. Up until this moment everything is just like it is in the music video. Then...
In aggravation the singer says something to his band mates. Poppy music plays, the singer's lips move but you don't hear what he's saying. Text pops up on screen like in a silent movie. The text reads, "Me and my girl are being murder! Why are the two of just playing your instruments and not helping us?"
The girl looks frightened and bites her nails. She looks from the attackers to the band mates, hoping the bandmates would help them.
A last couple of twinges awkwardly sound from the guitar and the keyboard. The guitarist and the keyboard player momentarily stop playing, awkward silent occurs, oddly the race car drivers stop their attack and look at the band mates, awaiting their reaction.
The band mates look confused for a moment and then hesitantly turn to look at each other. The guitarist shrugs at the keyboard player. The keyboard player shrugs back. The music starts back up and they continue bobbing their heads and playing their instruments, like nothing's wrong.
Zingy pop music continues. The race car drivers smile menacingly at the couple and raise their wrenches at them. In a comic book panel the wrench is seen swinging through the air, "Swoosh!"
The black and white comic book images of the band members get covered with a ominous splatter of bright red blood, coming from off screen. The bandmates continue playing like nothing's wrong, while more and more splatters of blood splash on them. The music crescendos with a zoom in on the blood drenched wrench.
