Welcome to a sequel to one of my Pokemon Quick Battle stories. This is a continuation of one of the chapters, specifically the triple battle between the three pokemon school students. This series will follow one of them. I hope you enjoy it.

The Damian McCabe Story

Chapter 1

"I know what is it that I have to do" I say to myself. I look out the window to the town that I have grown up in for the past 15 years of my life.

My name is Damian McCabe, fifteen years old and for the last year I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to do. You see, a year ago I graduated from the Lacross Pokemon Training School. I was in the top 3 students in the fire type training course. After graduating I had no idea what it was that I wanted to do with my pokemon. I knew I only wanted to train fire types but other than that I really didn't know what else I wanted to do. That is until a week ago. My older sister is a licensed pokemon battle inspector. That means she goes all around the region testing out and evaluating the skills of pokemon trainer who have some sort of official experience in the world. Those people like gym leaders, battle facility experts, specialty experts, and anyone else that might be well known for their battling experience.

What I wanted to do, was to see how good I was. I wanted to beat all 14 gym leaders here in the Loprasia region. My test was to see if my fire types I've been training for close to two years now have the skills against some of the best trainers in the region.

First off, my Camerupt, one of the powerhouses of my team. Strong, sturdy, and can scare you with a glare, Camerupt was the second pokemon I caught. I never knew how amazing it would be in battle when I caught it, I just knew I wanted another fire type on my team and it has surpassed my expectations.

Next is my Torkoal, the defensive pokemon of my team. Torkoal was abandoned by a previous trainer for not being good enough. I saw it become not confidant in its abilities and wanted to help it. I then captured Torkoal and trained it to try learn to accept what it can do and to not be so hard on itself.

Next is my Magmar, the last addition to my team three months ago. It was given to me as an egg and it hatched into a Magby. Magby was very quickly a hotheaded pokemon and really wanted to battle and hated losing. Two months later it evolved and still retained its hotheaded nature and its desire to be powerful, which is shown in its moves.

Finally, my first pokemon I ever received is my Charizard. I got it when I first joined the training course, as a Charmander. It is a tough battler and is great under pressure. It's been a huge help when I am training my other fire type pokemon.

My team has been with me throughout the year that I've been trying to figure out what I want to do. But now I know that showing who we are as a team and who I am as a trainer is the most important thing to me. I am though broken out of my thoughts by a knock on my door.

"Come in." I say to the closed door. It opens to a man and a woman who walk in. My mom and dad. They are smiling and I know they aren't as nervous as I am about my choice. They want me to do well.

"So, how are you doing?" My mom asks me as she and him sit in two chairs next to my window seat I am on.

"I'm doing ok, nervous I guess about tomorrow."

"Understandable. It's the first step at the journey you are about to make. It's a big deal. Plus, it will show you exactly what you have to look for to for the future." He was talking about my decision to go around the region. I had told the both of them what I wanted to do the previous week and they actually accepted what I wanted to do. But I still had one test to get through. The first gym. That gym happened to be in my town of Grest. I had made an appointment when I told my parents and tomorrow was my first gym battle on my journey. I have to make my statement and have to make it huge.

"Well don't forget we will be right there with you. We wouldn't miss this for the world." My mom says to me. My dad nods with her.

"Of course. We are so proud of you." He says after her.

"You should get to bed, you have a big day tomorrow." She says as they both stand up. I look out into the night sky. Its only 10 at night but I know I will have to get up early in the morning.

"I am. Goodnight." I say as they walk out of my room.

The moon is almost three quarters full and its light is illuminating my room nicely. I realize that by next week I won't see this house for awhile and won't be sleeping in my bed for a while as well. It's going to be such a new way of life but I should get used to it. I get up from the seat and head into my bed. I'm not sure if I will get to sleep quickly but before I know it, I am peacefully asleep

The next day I am in the Grest town gym. My mom and dad are in the stands along with a few dozen other people, the referee is on one side of the field, halfway down, and my opponent is across from me, Meghan Thompson. She is a skilled gym leader and I've seen her in action a couple of times.

She is 34 years old with long brown hair. She is tall and wore glasses and looks more like a teacher than a gym leader. She wears high heels for her gym battles which works since you don't have to do a lot of moving around.

Me on the other hand, I am about five inches shorter than her and have quite short spiked brown hair. I decided today to wear a short sleeve plaid button up shirt with jeans. But I have a lot more to focus on than just who is in this building.

Meghan is a special gym leader who has a special requirement for her pokemon. She only uses pokemon that start with the letter D. This is an odd requirement but it can be interesting to watch since the requirement doesn't have an obvious weakness, just a certain set of pokemon can be used.

"This will be a one on one pokemon battle with three pokemon each." The referee states. "There is no time limit and only the challenger can use substitions. First introducing the challenger, from here in Grest, Damian McCabe." The people in the stands cheer when I am introduced. "Next up is the gym Leader of Grest. Meghan Thompson." The people in the stands cheer again and she does a polite wave to them. "Send out your first pokemon." Meghan enlarges a pokeball and throws it.

"Alright, Delcatty, you are up first." The pokemon opens to reveal a beautiful Delcatty standing proud and ready.

"My turn." I say enlarging my pokeball. "You are up Torkoal." I throw it and open pops my trusty Torkoal. It exhales smoke through its nostrils.

"Start the battle." The referee calls out.

"Alright Torkoal, Fire Spin." Torkoal quickly launches spinning flames from its mouth.

"Delcatty, dodge them." Delcatty quickly leaps over the flames without missing a beat. "Hit it with Iron Tail." Delcatty lands next to the flames and jumps again in the air, it just a small flip with its tail glowing white heading straight for Torkoal.

"Torkoal, Iron Defense." Torkoal, seeing the imminent threat coming towards it quickly pulls itself into its shell and Delcatty's tail hits the top of it, barely leaving any damage at all. It bounces a safe distance away from Torkoal.

"Alright Delcatty, Double Edge." Delcatty starts running at Torkoal, quickly and recklessly. I know it's a powerful but dangerous attack and yet I was hoping this is how she would react.

"Torkoal, Toxic." Torkoal opens its mouth and an ugly, purple orb flies out of its mouth and hits Delcatty right on the head. It loses speed and suddenly stops just a few inches away from Torkoal. Soon its coughing and it doesn't look to good for its health.

"Torkoal, Fire Spin." Torkoal launches the swirling flames attack at Delcatty again. Due to its close position and its poisoned nature the attack hits it and it's covered in swirling flames.

"Delcatty, Rain Dance." Delcatty's eyes glow blue and clouds start appears above the battlefield. Soon they turn a nasty grey color and rain starts falling onto the battlefield. The rain starts putting out the Fire Spin flames surrounding its body. I can tell Torkoal doesn't like it since it's getting antsy and it keeps blowing smoke out of the holes in its shell. "Now, Thunder." Darn, I knew something like this could be coming. Delcatty starts bristling with electricity. It releases the electricity into the clouds. I know the worse has yet to come.

"Iron Defense." I tell my Torkoal. It quickly gets into its shell and the electricity from the clouds comes crashing down onto it. While its shell is able to protect it, I can tell that it isn't able to do much against the whole attack. It moves out of its shell slowly and I can immediately tell, from the electricity coursing through its body, it's been paralyzed. Now I need to make a choice. Do I keep Torkoal in? Or do I allow it to continue since Delcatty is still affected by the poison. Although with the Rain Dance I have to be careful about using fire attacks. But I think the choice has been made for me.

"Torkoal, return." I say as I hold out my pokeball and return Torkoal back. I tuck the ball away and enlarge another one. "Camerupt, help me out." I say throwing it and out comes my Camerupt. It roars but immediately stops when it realizes it's raining.

"Well, a ground type. You've effectively cancelled out my electric attack." Meghan says. While that is a good point, that wasn't my main focus. I just wanted a fresh pokemon out on my side.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Camerupt uses its front feet to pound on the ground which levitates four small rocks. It them slams on the ground once again and sends the rocks flying towards Delcatty. Delcatty, seeing the danger, dodges around three of them, but the poison is tiring it out and the fourth rock slams into it knocking it to the ground.

"Delcatty, Double Edge." Delcatty, slowly gets to its feet, gets a determined look on its face, and starts rushing towards Camerupt. But I'm not going to let it get close.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower." Camerupt lifts its head a bit and releases a great amount of flames, directed at Delcatty. But Delcatty jumps over them and slams its body right on Camerupt's head. Yikes that will be a lot of unnecessary damage. Delcatty pushes off of Camerupt's head and lands on its side of the field but proceeds to collapse in a faint.

"Delcatty is unable to battle, Camerupt is the winner." The referee says as Meghan returns her Delcatty back to her.

"Good job." She says as she puts away the pokeball and enlarges another. "Ditto, go." She throws it and out pops a squishy, pink pokemon that looks like a blob. Oh, no. This will not be an easy matchup. Maybe I can do something quick.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower." Camerupt quickly launches flames from its mouth towards its opponent.

"Ditto, Transform." Ditto starts glowing and its form changes. The flames are close to it now but the energy it's using makes a sort of barrier around it that pushes the flames away and protects it. A few seconds after the glowing stops and in the Ditto's place is a Camerupt. Now the matchup just got more difficult.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Meghan says.

"Camerupt, you use Rock Slide as well." Both Camerupts stamp their feet on the ground and lift rocks up. Then both shoot the rocks towards the other. Some rocks crash into each other, breaking apart, but other miss and hit their marks.

"Flamethrower." We both yell at the same time. Both Camerupts release flames from their mouths and the attacks clashed in the middle of the battlefield, neither attack yelding.

We are at an impass. Both of our pokemon are exactly the same. Same attacks, same strengths, and same weakness. One of us have to give. Good thing for me was I have a bit more room to yield.

"Camerupt, return." I say holding out the pokeball and return my pokemon. I put the pokeball back and enlarge another one. "Torkoal, come on out." I throw the pokeball and out comes Torkoal. It lands and looks tired. I notice that the paralysis is still on it and know that I have to make my next few moves count.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Camerupt stamps on the ground, levitating three rocks.

"Torkoal, Toxic, then Iron Defense." Torkoal is able to send out the dark purple orb just as the rocks start flying towards it. The rocks go over the orb so its unaffected by it. Torkoal quickly gets into its shell. One of the rocks hits near Torkoal, one knocks into it and the third one lands directly on its shell. I look up in time to see the orb hit Camerupt right on the nose, poisoning it. Now I just need to try and out last it. How I will do that I am not sure? Torkoal slowly gets out of its shell and I can tell that it's not only getting tired but not acting as confident as it was before. I guess going against an opponent three times your size can do that to you.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower."

"Torkoal, Shell Smash." Torkoal's shell starts glowing red. Soon the red breaks off and turns to a bright white color. It starts running to dodge the flames. It's gotten faster, not as fast since the paralysis is still hindering it but faster than normal.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Rocks start levitating and being thrown at Torkoal, who is still weaving around as best it can.

"Fire Spin Torkoal." Torkoal jumps in the air and let's loose the swirling stream of flames. They surround Camerupt who roars from being surrounded. I really hope this works out. Because I know Torkoal isn't doing well. It probably only has a few minutes left of being able to dodge attacks before it can't keep up.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower." The gym leader calls out.

"Torkoal, Iron Defense. The flames rushed out from the swirling flames and came towards Torkoal who quickly got into its shell. The flames surrounded Torkoal, and when they died down it emerged unscathed. I can tell Meghan is getting frustrated due to the fact that she keeps falling behind and can't seem to get any sort of advantage. I just have to wait her out for as long as possible.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Camerupt roars loudly and I can hear the feet stamps and rocks start getting flung from the vortex of flames.

"Torkoal, dodge them." Thankfully Torkoal's speed boost is holding steady and its able to estimate where the rocks are going to land and is able to successfully maneuver away from them. But before the last rock is thrown, I can tell the paralysis has caught up to him and he soon slows down too much and can't get out of the way quick enough of the rock. It hit it right on the side and sends Torkoal flying and I realize it has fainted once it lands on the ground.

"Torkoal is unable to battle, Camerupt is the winner" The referee announces

"Torkoal return." I say bringing back Torkoal. Before I can even put my pokeball away I hear a roar from the other side and Camerupt falls to the ground, extinguishing the Fire Spin attack and transforming back into Ditto, fainted.

"As well, Camerupt is unable to battle." The referee calls out again. So once again I am in the lead. I still have two pokemon left, with one that hasn't even been seen. Meghan is down to her last pokemon and I'm not even sure what it could be.

"Camerupt, let's go." I say throwing a pokeball and out comes Camerupt, ready once again.

"Dragonair, let's do this." Meghan says throwing her pokeball and out comes a very beautiful and graceful Dragonair.

"That is unexpected." I say.

"Let the battle begin." The referee calls out.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower." Camerupt releases flames from its mouth towards Dragonair.

"Dragonair, Agility." Dragonair quickly moves forward and disappears. It then reappears in a different spot. It keeps doing this to avoid the Flamethrower attack which keeps getting redirected towards where it would reappear at.

"Dragonair, Dragon Rush." Dragonair starts rushing towards Camerupt with blue streams of energy surrounding it.

"Camerupt, Flamethrower." I say. Camerupt releases the fire attack and it and Dragonair collide together. But Dragonair is able to push through the flames and slam right into Camerupt. Dragonair glides back over to its side of the field and Camerupt is still standing there. Looking a bit more tired but still in this fight.

"Camerupt, Rock Slide." Camerupt levitates some rocks up and throws them at Dragonair.

"Dodge them all." Dragonair gracefully is able to slide around the rocks. It is incredible with its dodging capabilities.

"Dragonair, Water Pulse." Dragonair starts forming an orb of water in its mouth. Once its large enough it fires it at Camerupt. It hits Camerupt dead on its head and explodes in a torrent of water that washes over every part of its body. I realize Camerupt lost this fight as it falls flat on the ground in a faint.

"Camerupt is unable to battle, Dragonair is the winner." The referee states as I return Camerupt back to its pokeball.

"Good job Camerupt." I look out to the gym leader who doesn't look fazed in the least bit that I am down to my last pokemon and she only has Dragonair left. "Well, it looks like you get to see my strongest pokemon." I say as I enlarge my pokeball.

"I look forward to it." The gym leader says with a smile.

"Charizard, you're up." I throw the pokeball and open comes my fearsome and loyal Charizard.

"How impressive." Meghan says looking somewhat surprised.

"You haven't seen anything yet. Charizard, Wing Attack." Charizard dashes towards Dragonair in a glide with its wings glowing. Meghan though doesn't seem worried.

"Dragonair, Water Pulse." Dragonair charges up its Water Pulse attack and launches it at Charizard.

"Charizard, use your attack to send it away." Charizard quickly stops and, using its wing, knocks the orb of water back at Dragonair.

"Dragon Rush now." Meghan states quickly trying to reverse what's happening to her. Dragonair starts rushing towards Charizard with the blue energy coming from it. It charges into the Water Pulse, breaking it, but keeps moving on. Charizard isn't able to move out of the way and takes a ramming to its chest, knocking it to the ground. "Now, hit it with Water Pulse." Dragonair charges up the same orb of water from before in its mouth.

"Charizard, Smokescreen." Charizard breaths out a large plume of smoke from its mouth. Dragonair releases the orb of water into the smoke and I can tell it breaks with water splashes all around. But Charizard flies through the top of the smoke area, unharmed. "Now, Heat Wave." Charizard opens its mouth and releases little waves of fire from its mouth. Dragonair has no time to react as the attack hits it, knocking it down to the ground.

"You used the Smokescreen to lower my guard when you knew that Charizard wasn't going to get damaged from the Water Pulse. I am impressed." Meghan says as she is watching Dragonair get back up. "But you won't be able to put me down that easily. Dragonair, Incinerate." Dragonair threw up its head and releases a slew of multi colored flames directly at Charizard.

"Charizard, Wing Attack." Charizard starts gliding very quickly towards the flames, with its wings glowing. It charges head first into the flames without a moment's hesitation. It doesn't even slow down and hits Dragonair with its wings. Dragonair is thrown to the ground while Charizard flies back over to its side of the field. I can tell its panting and it seems to be getting tired from the back and forth. I want to end this quickly before Meghan catches on and fires another Water Pulse that Charizard might not be able to dodge.

"Dragonair, Dragon Rush. End this." Meghan calls out. Dragonair quickly gets up and starts charging towards Charizard, streaming off blue energy from its body.

"Charizard, collide with it with Flare Blitz." Charizard starts charging towards Dragonair, surrounding itself with intense fire. The two attacks collide in a tremendous boom and the whole battlefield is covered in smoke and dust. Noone can see anything and isn't even sure what the result of the two attacks are. The smoke and dust clears and the first thing I see is Charizard standing proud with Dragonair lying on the ground nearby, fainted.

"Dragonair is unable to battle. Charizard is the winner. The winner of the match is Damian." I jump in the air towards Charizard as it hugs me. I hear lots of cheering from the crowd. Meghan returns her Dragonair to its pokeball. She then starts walking across the battlefield towards me. I let go of Charizard and face her when she reaches us.

"Congratulations on a wonderful match." She holds out her hand and on it is a little pink badge in the shape of the letter D. "Here is your badge showing that you defeated the Grest Town gym. Great work." I pick up the badge.

"Thank you very much." I turn to Charizard and smile. "Well one down, thirteen to go on our journey."

Thank you for reading this sequel to a Pokemon Quick Battles chapter. I am excited to be focusing solely on a trainer that uses only one type of Pokemon and doing a sort of anime type goal in battling gym leaders. Please review and tell me what you thought about this.
