Eveliyne POV

Eveliyne sat on the edge of her cousin's bed, reading a letter from her best friend, Rose. She was staying at Scorpius' house as her mother had gone to France for an important meeting with the Minister of Magic of France. She had been having a great day- until a brown owl had collided with a closed window and fell to the ground, a letter tied to its leg. She had gotten up from the table to get the owl and promptly untied the letter, leaving Scorpius to deal with the slightly concussed, very much confused, owl.

She was snapped out of her reverie when her cousin's impatient voice rang out, "So, what does it say? You've been staring at it for ages!"

Eveliyne merely gave an absentminded nod in response, still immersed in the contents of the letter.

"Hello?" He snapped his fingers under her nose.

"Scor!" She exclaimed, snapping backwards.

He gave her a pointed look, clearly demanding that she relay the information she had read.

"Fine," she huffed before reciting what she had read, "Rose is complaining about how annoying Albus is and I completely agree with the statement, she went to Diagon Alley last week and bought volume three of the Nightingale series-"

Eveliyne came to an abrupt stop, eyes widening as she scrambled to retrieve the letter, which had fallen to the floor.

"No way, the third volume wasn't supposed to come out until next month! Where in the name of Merlin did she manage to find it?" She muttered as she scanned the letter for more details.

"El! Can we get to the important stuff now?" Scorpius whined.

"Fine, fine, fine! She's inviting us to her house until school starts!" Eveliyne desisted as Scorpius made to snatch the letter from her.

Scorpius grinned triumphantly before pushing her out of his room.

"Go change, I'm giving you thirty minutes tops to pack your trunk," was his only warning before the door was slammed in her face.

Eveliyne rolled her eyes. Sometimes, her cousin was a bit too much to handle, especially when he was with his best friend. Unfortunately, she was about to spend a week with them. Merlin help her.

She took twenty-five minutes to pack. Hurrying, down the stairs, she found Scorpius staring out of the window. Outside, the sun's rays were casting a bright glow across the many fields and clusters of trees surrounding the Malfoy Manor. Leaves rustled in the breeze, the wind balancing out perfectly with the hot sun. It was an amazing view and she understood why Scorpius was staring out of the window, face arranged in a peaceful, relaxed expression - but the only thing that mattered at that point was getting to Rose's house as quickly as possible, meaning that there was no time for stoning in front of a window.

"Scor, if you don't hurry up and get your ass down there, I'll make sure you don't have one anymore." Eveliyne threatened, wand drawn.

Perhaps spending time with Lavena and Thalis had affected her a tad too much.

Scorpius' eyes gleamed as he turned to her and gave her a sardonic smile, "And you say I'm the impatient one."

His comment was rewarded by a scowl and a slight forward inching of a foot. However, before Eveliyne could break out into a sprint down the stairs and leave Scorpius to carry her trunk, Scorpius was running into the fireplace with a handful of floo powder, shouting Rose's address. Eveliyne looked down and sighed, spotting the worn brown trunk beside her own. Of course, he had left his trunk with her.

He was going to have hell to pay for that.

Scorpius POV

Scorpius stepped out of the Weasleys' fireplace, glad that he had predicted Eveliyne's move a moment before she had done it. He supposed it was good that they had grown up together after all.

His thoughts were interrupted by a loud, "Scor!"

A mini figure with bright, fiery red hair was hurtling to him at light speed. A moment later, all the air was sucked out of him as the figure embraced him.

"Can't...breathe..." Scorpius choked as he was squeezed tighter.

Immediately, she let go of him.

"Hi, mini Potter." Scorpius grinned as ruffled her hair, wheezing.

Lily took a step back, scowling, "I'm thirteen already!"

"That's still younger than me."

"Only by two years!"

"Three. I'm sixteen, remember? I had my birthday a week ago."

"That doesn't count! It's only a few months until I turn fourteen!"

"Does too."

"Does not!"

"Seriously, Lily?" A voice that Scorpius recognized well rang out.

"You two are arguing about age again?" Albus Severus Potter said with raised brows.

Lily gave her brother a look and said simply, "Yes, and we've come to the conclusion that in terms of maturity, you're a newborn."

Scorpius gave her a high-five and Albus sighed, "You two really love ganging up on me, don't you?

"Scorpius! He's finally figured it out after five years!" Lily mock-gasped as she made her way out of the living room.

"At least I'm not a newborn in terms of height." Albus whispered once Lily was out of earshot, causing Scorpius to snicker lightly.

Although Lily would have many objections to the statement, it was true. Lily was the shortest in the entire Wotter clan- by a lot. It didn't help her already-temperamental nature which she had inherited from her father that her height was always the first thing everyone noticed. Suffice to say, regardless of her height, no one would want to be on the other end of Lily Luna Potter's wand.

Just then, Eveliyne emerged from the fireplace, each hand holding a trunk. She set both trunks down, unceremoniously dropping them on the floor.

"What took you so long?" Albus asked.

Eveliyne had a strange expression on her face as she said monotonously, "Why don't you ask that buffoon standing next to you?"

Albus turned his attention to Scorpius, the question clear in his eyes. Scorpius just shook his head, motioning for Albus to wait. He walked over to his trunk and eyes it suspiciously. He wouldn't have been surprised if something jumped out at him and knocked him unconscious. However, his trunk merely stayed in place, looking as worn as ever. Scorpius looked at Eveliyne, who smiled back innocently- too innocently - and heaved his trunk up, extending it to him. Scorpius sighed and grabbed the trunk. Just before he pulled it away from her, she let go. It dropped with a loud 'thunk' - right on his toes. Pain shot up his feet and instinct alone caused him to push his trunk away, letting it topple on its side. His left foot had moved away just in time but his right foot, however, had not been so lucky.

"What in the name of Merlin, El!" Scorpius yelped as he bent down, clutching his foot.

Eveliyne shrugged, "That's what you did the last time I pulled that trick on you."

Scorpius cursed. He had done the same thing.

"Karma, Scor. What comes around goes around." Eveliyne said, helping him up.

Albus grinned at that, "So you mean, one day, I'll be able to pay you back for turning me completely invisible for a day?"

"Nope, she means that one day, I'll be able to pay you back for breaking my broom into splinters." Rose interrupted as she entered, surveying the scene.

"That was an accident!" Albus protested.

"Right. So the day after Gryffindor beat Slytherin in a quidditch match, you accidentally took my broom and decided you would practice the reductor curse? Which, if you aren't clear, quite simply breaks things down into dust?"

"Well, yes!"

"Seriously, Albus?" Lily questioned, standing at the doorway, "You're arguing about that again?"

Her smirk was evident as Albus flushed. Scorpius, the only one who had been there, laughed. Eveliyne and Rose exchanged quizzical looks but said nothing.

"Come on, slow pokes. Mum made blueberry pie and you guys aren't going to get any of it if you don't hurry up!" was Lily's only warning before she disappeared from the doorway, most likely already running off to the dining table. The others shared a look and came to the same conclusion. They set off immediately, sprinting through the many doorways of Rose's house.

Lily was not going to get there before they did.
