A/N: So, this is my first attempt at writing fanfiction, and hopefully it doesn't turn at as horrible as think it will.
Okay, so here's the deal. This a Trollhunters Au fic, where Claire finds the amulet instead of Jim and is chosen to be the Trollhunter. As is the usual in this show, things descend into chaos. Again. There are some things in the book later on that have to do with death, and what effect that has on a person, just to let everyone know in case there are some younger kids here.
So, please, fasten your seatbelts because this is going to be a long ride.

Prologue
The sun was just rising over the suburban town of Arcadia Oaks, with a fine mist covering the ground as a lone plastic cup rolled around in the still dark canals.
The was no sound, except for the tweeting of birds and the occasional car passing by on the bridge overhead, when a loud thump echoed throughout the still, shadowy canal.
A dark creature roared, shaking the ground. It looked to be made of stone, a dark, scarred obsidian of sorts, and looked terrifying with rows of sharp teeth that gleamed with anticipation, and red eyes that glowed with rage. Two dual broadswords were attached to its back as it lunged forward and punched the being opposite him.
The other creature was clad in glowing silver armour, which was adorned with intricate electric blue lines. It had hors that were covered with a silver helmet, and an outline of two horns gleamed proudly on its head. It was wielding a giant sword, which it used to attack the dark creature with as their growls rebounded of the canal walls.
After another punch, the two being were on their knees panting. The dark one spoke, breath ragged.
"Yield, Kanjigar," he said, his voice guttural.
The other creature, Kanjigar, slammed his sword against the ground. "A Trollhunter," he panted. "Never yields." He shook his head and hoisted himself back to his feet. "I'd rather die."
The dark creature let out a huff of air through its nose. "Terms, accepted," he growled.
Then, he leaped into the air, fists high. Kanjigar moved out of the way with seconds to spare as the ground shook violently.
The black creature lunged at Kanjigar again, punching at his enemy in quick succession but was met with failure each time the armor-clad being blocked his attacks with his sword. Kanjigar, seeing an opening, went for the dark creature's legs, but he saw it and flipped into the air, coming down to punch Kanjigar's face.
Kanjigar was quicker however, as it was his own fist that punched the creature along the length of the canal. The creature left a trail of rubble in his wake, and when his eyes opened, still as flame red as ever, he was met with a glowing sword pointing at his face.
Kanjigar stood above him, face grim and his teeth bared as he looked down at him. "Your turn, Bular. Yield," he snarled.
Then, Kanjigar felt a burning in his shoulder. He looked over, to see the sunlight touching him, burning him.
This was all the distraction Bular needed.
He shifted his weight onto his back, and leaped forward, kicking Kanjigar right in the face. Kanjigar flew in the air, and landed just where the shadow ended, his sword clattering into the early morning sunlight. His eyes widened slightly as he saw his weapon out of reach. He saw Bular stand up, ready to fight once more, and he decided that pain would be worth it if he could the beast off once and for all.
He reached a hand into the sunlight, yelling as it burned painfully. But his sword was back in his hand. He pointed at Bular once more, as the creature walked towards him menacingly.
Kanjigar gasped when he felt his strength leave him for a moment. He looked down to see the light of the amulet on his chest fading in and out.
Bular opened his arms wide and spoke with a savage grin on his face. "There is nowhere left for you to run, Trollhunter," he drawled. "Give me the amulet." His tone took on a sharper edge.
Kanjigar had no plans on doing so.
He ran up the side of the canal wall, Bular right behind him, and leaped onto the bridge. He felt his chest collide painfully with the bridge, but there was no time to process it. He clambered onto the beam, panting as he clasped his sword in both hands, looking around for Bular, who had vanished. He heard Bular's roar behind him, and before he could defend himself, he skirted across the metal beams on the underside of the bridge, his back clashing painfully with a large beam.
Jumping back to his feet, he ignored the screams of his aching body as he stood on top of the beam and faced Bular once more. The beast leaped towards him again, and Kanjigar jumped down through a gap in the beams, and began to swing from beam to beam. Bular copied his movements, and when Kanjigar saw him getting closer, he leapt back up to the beams and once again looked for Bular, who was nowhere within his vision.
Suddenly, he felt his knees buckle as a tremendous weight crushed his back to the ground. Then, he was in the air again, being thrown by Bular. He had barely a second to lift his arms against Bular, who had sprung on top of him. Kanjigar's sword fell to the canal floor, disappearing surge of blue light as it hit the ground.
Bular laughed, a sound that chilled him to his core. "It all ends here," he said, pushing Kanjigar further off the bridge, where the sunlight was just inches from touching Kanjigar's head.
He let out a hiss as he felt the sunlight begin to burn him, coming over half of his face as he could no longer hold back his choked cries. Bular's expression was one of glee as he watched his enemy succumb to the sunlight. The dark beast raised a clawed hand, preparing to finish Kanjigar off once and for all.
His claws came down with a terrifying speed, but his hand jolted as Kanjigar caught it with a grunt, and pulled it towards the sun. He stumbled off Kanjigar, clutching his arm, which was an ashy-grey color and his claws unmoving. Bular was angry now as he watched Kanjigar struggle back to his feet. He drew his broadswords.
"It's me, or the sun," he growled, rolling his shoulders. "Either way, you're doomed."
Kanjigar had an arm holding the wall to keep himself upright as his breath came in pants. "No," he said. "The amulet will find a champion," he said, facing Bular, half his face and arm stiff and ash colored. He took his supporting arm off the beam. "We will stop you, and your master." He drew to his full height, wincing inwardly. "I may end, but the fight will not."
And with that, he began to step backwards, off the bridge.
Bular's eyes widened as he saw Kanjigar cross his arms over his chest, and fall backwards into the sun.
As Kanjigar felt his body begin to turn to stone, his last thoughts were of his son, his precious boy whom he had treated so harshly, and he hoped that his son would live a long and happy life, and forget about the father that was never there for him.
And everything went dark.
"NO!" Bular yelled, as he watched Kanjigar fall to the ground and break into a million pieces, with the amulet sitting there in the glow of the sun.
He let out a frustrated yell. Blast it! He had the damn Trollhunter right where he wanted him, and he was this close to getting everything he had ever wanted. And now, that chance had slipped right out of his fingertips.
He ran back to the shadows as the sun began to inch its way under the bridge, grimly eager for night to return so he could claim the amulet for himself.
A/N: And that's the prologue! I know it's pretty much the same as the show, but the next few chapter are gonna start deviating from the regular plotline that the show sets out.
Hope you enjoyed, and if you have any critiques to share or an opinion to offer don't hesitate to leave a review!
