Hey guys. I know I haven't updated my other story but... Well, I don't know. My cousin is still helping me edit and I just had this idea. So, yeah. This probably won't be very good but I still want to write it, so that's your problem, or is it mine...
Me own nothing
Edit: hey, thanks to all those who followed, favourited and reviewed, I really appreciate it. I was reading through this while I was doing my 2nd chapter and found I left a lot of things out, that I want to change from the books. Also, not every single thing that happened in the book, will happen here. And sorry, but I'm having a comma phase. And 8 REVIEWS! Thank you sooo much guys, means a lot to me :D
Summary
Percy was always told that he wouldn't get very far in life. His teachers told him, the bullies at school told him, his step father told him and, even though she tried to hide it, he knew his mom was thinking the same thing. He didn't blame them either.
He was a troubled kid. He had ADHD and dyslexia, the worst grades possible and he had never stayed in the same school for more than one year.
So when he found out about the Greek Gods and being a demigod, he was determined on being the best hero he could be.
Chapter 1
"Let me get this straight. I'm half Greek God. I inherited powers from said God who is my father. My mother has most likely been kidnapped by the Lord of the Underworld. My best friend is a satyr, half goat. I defeated the Minotaur, which was supposed to be dead a few millennia ago. I saw the Fates cut a string, that could be ending my life. My history teacher for the past year, aka you, is the Chiron, centaur, trainer of heroes. And the blonde girl assumes the person who stumbled into camp semi-conscious knows anything about anyone." A boy with sea-green eyes and wild black hair inquired with skepticism, said blonde red with embarrassment in the corner of the room.
"Well how was I supposed to know what you knew!" she exclaimed, a look of annoyance crossing her face.
"Firstly, what is your name? I'm not going to argue with someone that I don't even know the name of." the black haired boy stated.
"Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena." the blonde huffed haughtily, crossing her arms and looking at the boy as if he should be bowing.
"Hi Annabeth. I'm Perseus Jackson, who prefers to be called Percy, son of whatever water God. And aren't you supposed to be smart because of your mother?" he mocked. A scandalous look crossed her face.
"I'm sure you've been in touch with Grover recently. He talks about you and this other guy, Luke, I think, all the time, saying you guys are his best friends. I'm sure he would have told you about how much I know of this world, giving you updates as much as he can. And seeing as you are here with the, let's go with leader," he said, gesturing to Chiron, "I'm guessing you've been in a similar situation before, when a demigod shows up. Do you just ask all of them about Godly stuff or are you just frustrated and taking it out on me."
Chiron and Annabeth stood there, mouths wide open.
Chiron had never met someone with such a deep perspective that actually says what they think. Most just stay quiet and brood, not doing anything about it. But this seemingly not-so-smart boy, according to his grades, had just talked off the smartest person at camp half-blood.
Annabeth, on the other hand, was seething. She was a daughter of Athena, Goddess of wizdom and battle strategy, yet she was being shown up by some nobody that had shown up unconscious.
In her embarrassment and inability to defend herself, she stormed out the room in a huff.
Chiron stood there for a few seconds until he realized something.
"You said you were a son of a water God. How are you so sure?" Chiron questioned, knowing demigods don't normally show up at camp having any ideas of who their godly parents are.
"It was quite obvious. I feel energized when I'm in contact with water and I heard whispers about the water moving that day with 'Mrs. Dodds', who is a Fury, judging by the description you taught me, when Nancy 'fell' into the water fountain." Percy said nonchalantly, looking bored.
"... You need to be introduced to our camp director, Mr. D, at the Big House." Chiron stated, shaken up by how observant Percy was.
"Okay. Guessing it's the big house, so you don't have to show me. There can't be many big houses if this is a camp for demigods. " Percy said as he got out of bed and left the room.
Chiron could only shake his head as he watched the retreating form of Percy head towards the blue farmhouse, where Dionysus was lazing about drinking diet coke.
"This boy is going to cause more trouble than the Stolls. I can feel it." he muttered to himself. "Or worse, they'll team up." he said, a horrified look crossing his face.
He sighed, "Well, I guess we should sell more strawberries to pay for the damage." And with that he walked out the room.
/LINE BREAKING-WORLD ENDING\
As Percy walked towards the big house, he took in his surroundings. He stared at everything he saw. There was so much Greek architecture in everything. There was an archery range that he re~ally wanted to visit, an amphitheater, a lake with canoes, an arena, the lush woods, a forge, strawberry fields, what looked like smaller houses or cabins in a U shape and so much more that he couldn't wrap his head around it, and he had wrapped his head around the fact that he was half Greek God.
As he approached the deck of the blue farmhouse, he saw a porky man, with watery eyes wearing a tiger patterned shirt. He held what looked like a diet coke in his hand. Percy then thought back to Smelly Gabe and how the porky, sort of drunk looking, guy would fit right in.
Then something clicked. He was Dionysus, God of madness and wine, Mr. D for short. 'Wine, which could make you drunk.' Percy thought, 'The tiger shirt must be a symbol then. But why is he drinking diet coke?
Just don't offend him Percy, okay? You don't need your first day of knowing about being a demigod, to end with you annoying a God, an Olympian at that.'
When Percy got to the table that the God was sitting at, he bowed and said, "Lord Dionysus, I am humbled to be in your presence. I am Perseus Jackson, but I prefer to be called Percy. Chiron sent me." Percy stayed in the bowing position for a few seconds until the God started speaking.
"Rise Percy Jackson," as he did, he saw in the place of the porky man, was a muscled figure, "I am very grateful for your gratitude. Often people don't even recognize me. That's why I started taking the other form. I got bored and annoyed. Anyone would if they were punished by their hypocrite father and placed in a camp full of people who should know you, but don't."
Percy actually felt bad for the God. He was ignored almost all the time, and he knew how being ignored felt. He was either ignored or picked on in all the schools he went to, they were both bad. Though Percy was wondering why the God wasn't more involved in the camp instead of just lazing around. But he wanted at least the first God he met to like him, so he kept quiet.
"So, would you like me to get someone to show you around camp?" Mr. D asked. Percy again wondered why the God was so lazy. He was doing nothing, yet he wanted to disturb someone else who was busy to take him on a walk, which seems like something a camp director would do.
"Uh, no thank you. I'll be able to show myself around." Percy said, starting to turn away.
When he was a couple meters away from the big house he turned around and saw Mr. D in the poker form again. He shook his head as he carried on walking.
He headed to the archery range first. Which child doesn't fantasize about learning archery. When he got there he saw a bunch of blonde people practicing. On the side furthest away from him, he saw they were all hitting the center of targets from a ridiculous distance. On the side closest to him, he noticed that the children were standing a bit closer to the targets and took longer to shoot.
Amongst the closer group, he found the girl that was in the infirmary. She was one of the most precise people on her side, but she took so long to shoot. 'What good is it if she couldn't shoot the monster fast enough?' Percy thought.
Wanting to avoid Annabeth, he walked along the range to the far end. He took in how the clearly experienced archers took their stances and held their bows. Also how much they pulled the arrow back and how far it would get the arrow as well as how high.
After about five minutes, one of the archers noticed him. He was blonde with blue eyes, but that fit most of the kid's descriptions.
"Hey. I'm Will, son of Apollo. You new?" He asked.
"Yeah. I just thought it would be cool to try archery first. I'm Percy." Percy responded. Well at least the Apollo part makes sense. Apollo was said to be blonde with blue eyes, and the domain of archery. 'So Godly children take some appearances of their Godly parent.' Percy thought.
"Have you seen the orientation film?" Will questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Orientation film? Uhh … no -" he started but was cut of by Will.
"Wow, you're so~o lucky, man. That video is scarring." Will said, shuddering slightly. "Anyway, with a bored son of Apollo, comes an archery trainer for you." he continued brightly, slinging his arm over Percy's shoulder.
"Sounds cool." Percy said. It really did. It's not everyday one of the Gods of archery's son wants to help you shoot an arrow properly.
"Come on, we have to get a bow that suites you. I know there's plenty in the weapons shed." Will said as he started heading towards a long building that looked like a one story house.
On there way there, a group of buff guys and a girl with dark eyes and brown, stringy hair that looked like their leader making their way towards him and Will.
"Hey newbie!" The girl shouted.
"Children of Ares. They're sorta like the camp bullies," Will whispered to Percy before saying louder, "What do you want Clarisse?"
They were now standing right in front of them, cracking their knuckles menacingly.
"You know we have an initiation for newbs, Solace" the girl grunted at Will.
"Can't you just go shine your spear?" Will responded.
"I'm not here for you. I want to show this punk how we treat newcomers." as she said this, Percy was very aware of how 2 goons were standing behind Will and the rest forming a circle around them.
"Guess I know who to go to when i need a good fight," Percy said, putting his hands in his pockets and staring the girl straight in her eyes.
"What?" she asked, confused. This wasn't the normal reaction to her threats.
"Well, you guys are children of Ares. Figured you'd be good at fighting. I can respect a good fight." Percy elaborated, shrugging.
Clarisse stared at him critically before waving her siblings away and addressing him, "Guess you're not too much of dork after all Prissy. You might just make it in this camp." And with that she walked off.
Will stared open mouthed at Percy. As a bystander, he could easily see what Percy did. He stroked Clarisse's ego. Nobody ever tried that, and it worked like a charm. No one has ever gotten out of the initiation. he knew this boy was going to change things around the camp. After all, if he can evade Clarisse, he can do almost anything.
/LINE-LINE-LINETY-BREAKY\
When they got to the weapons shed, Percy started looking at all the weapons. There were spears, swords, daggers, throwing knives, bows and quivers. They were all different lengths and some were broader or narrower than others. Most were made of bronze but there were some black, gold and silver ones too.
Percy was shaken out of his shock of how many weapons a camp of teenagers can have, by Will walking to the back. Percy quickly followed.
"Was this all bought or collected over the years?" Percy asked.
Will shrugged, "Not sure. I know some were made my the Hephaestus Cabin, their father being the God of the forges. Some are gifts from the Gods. And some are brought as spoils of war, or collected from a dead demigods if possible."
Dead demigods, Percy thought. Will said it so casually it scared him. Judging by the normal tone Will used, Percy was sure this was a common thing. It made sense, what with all the monsters running around hunting demigods, but it was still a bit startling.
"Here we are," Will announced, "Just pick what you feel drawn to. And yes, it's fine if you take more than one weapon. Most demigods try all of them before they choose their favoured one. They sometimes even keep all of the ones they choose. Most of the time that is the Ares or Athena campers. Doesn't really matter... and I'm talking to myself." Will finished with a deadpan, watching the curious newbie walk towards some swords.
Percy payed no mind to Will as he walked towards a beautiful sword. It was black with intricate white lines that swirled to make a pattern. It had a leaf shaped blade and looked about 3 feet long. There was a quiet humming Percy could hear coming from the sword and a thumping that accompanied it. When he reached the master piece, he reached out for it and grabbing the hilt. It felt soft and comfortable, but Percy could easily grip it firmly. He swung it around a couple of times and slashed like he saw those guys on TV do. It cut through the air like butter and he knew this was his sword.
Just as Percy was about to put it back and check the other swords before he made his decision, the sword started glowing. It started dim but glowed brighter and brighter, and soon enough they both had to cover their eyes. When the glow died down, Percy wasn't holding a sword, but instead had a black pen in his hand. After putting the pieces together, he put the sword into his pocket and carried on walking.
"Guess you found your sword." Will stated, but Percy ignored him picking out different weapons.
He found twin daggers made of a black metal which he held in his hands, very aware if the sharp edges. He kept on walking and found a belt with loop holes. When he strapped it on bronze knives appeared in the loops. Percy tried twisting and turning and found that the knives were placed in such as way that he could move freely.
"Those too, I guess. I'm also wondering why you're ignoring me." Will muttered under his breath.
Percy just kept walking and eventually he reached the bows. He tried picking them up, but none felt right after he tried the shooting position. Then he caught sight of a simple silver hair-clip. He reached out to take it, feeling the same feeling as the sword draw him nearer.
When his fingers wrapped around it, it elongated into a stunning, elegant silver bow with sharpened tips. Percy guessed he could use it as a short distance weapon too. As Percy took the stance he saw the other archers doing and pulled the string, he felt the shaft of a fully silver arrow rest on his fingers. He was so stunned, he dropped the bow. But he was once again in shock, when a centimeter from the floor it vanished and Percy felt the cool metal of the clip reappear in his hand.
Will then chose that time to turn around and look at Percy. To Will it looked as if Percy was suddenly attracted to a pen and as a doctor he was very concerned (anyone would be).
"Umm, sorry to break this up Perce but are you ready to go?" Will asked attentively.
"Yeah," Percy said. He then followed Will's line of sight, "It's a bow."
Will shrugged. He was used to weapons that turned into random objects by now. He often found people paying the children of Hecate to enchant their weapons.
"Can we go practice archery now? The bow comes with its own arrows so I should be fine." Percy said as he walked out.
"Own arrows?" Will muttered as he followed him.
*/L-I-N-E-B-R-E-A-K-S-UP\*
"Good stance but you need to put more of your weight on your dominant foot. It'll help you direct the bow better." Will instructed.
Percy did as he was told and let the arrow fly. Dead center, of course.
They were training for about half an hour and quickly found that Percy could be a child of Apollo. He was way past the normal beginner level that everyone did and was even shooting further than the Athena cabin by now. This irritated Annabeth, who spotted them after a while, to no end. The best challenge Will could find was the Apollo cabin's distance and it was still Percy's first day of being a demigod. Most people are already set on him being a demigod child of Apollo. Apparently they weren't uncommon. Apollo didn't like keeping it in his pants, which Artemis constantly ridiculed him for.
After getting a bullseye while running past the target three times in a row, Will had had enough.
"You know what Percy? Just go find another activity. We can see what else we can do tomorrow." Will sighed, sitting down.
Percy just shrugged and plopped down next to him, watching everyone else continue shooting.
Review Please and tell me if you think I should get Percy a trident. And I have read the comments (again, thank you soooo much for commenting) and I'm still not too sure about any pairings. I can't have anything going on between the big-little-three but I'm open to suggestions. As well if you have pairing ideas for Neeks and Thals, that would be awesome. Though I might not even follow any of these suggestions anyway.
