Elemental Outpour
Summary: They thought they could handle anything, including facing mortal peril, and come out unscathed. They thought their powers were enough to overcome anything. They thought nothing could be worse than the Never Realm. They thought wrong.
Disclaimer: I don't own the show. I own the Elementals, Master Extorio, Caledon the Cunning, Angel, and Corban. The other OCs belong to Deth, especially Nana and Tanya.
A/N: Here we go! The last big story of season 2. :D Buckle up. It's going to be a crazy ride! (PS: Yep! Two stories released in a day! lol Well, the first chapter of this one anyway... By the way, I placed a little foreshadowing Easter egg in On Occasion for something that will happen in the final chapter of this story. Let's see who was paying attention or who goes back and finds it later. :D Who did something in On Occasion that later is paralleled in chapter 5? Hmm! :D)
Chapter 1: Unhinged
Night had fallen upon Enchancia, and everyone was fast asleep. Even those who usually burned the midnight oil (namely Cedric) had turned in at a decent hour, especially at the behest of a certain princess.
A zap of crackling electricity was the only sound outside the tall tower besides the gentle wind rustling the trees and stirring the surrounding water. Blitz, his frazzled hair a staticky mess around his shoulders, smirked as he and Cybil Marie stepped up to the tower. He eyed the teenager warily, noticing the concentrated look on her face. "Still not sure why you decided to tag along," he quipped, a bit miffed that the blonde had followed him. He'd all but realized she seemed fascinated with him (probably since he played a huge role in her transformation), but really, he kind of just wanted her to go away.
"I'm just curious how you operate," she cooed saccharinely, a playful smile forming on her lips as she folded her arms and looked up. "So… How are we going to do this?"
The Lightning Elemental unlatched the chain belt from around his waist, magically extending it as he tossed it up to the slightly opened window of Cedric's workshop. He glared at Cybil Marie. "Quietly."
She nodded.
While the other two were using the chain to their advantage, Cedric had fallen asleep on his bed with Nana curled against his right side and Tanya on his left, both their heads resting on his chest, near the story book he'd previously been reading from. He had been reading more stories to the girls when possible, especially if they spent the night with him and not Sofia.
In fact, he knew that Sofia needed a little break right now. Sure, she was much better after the incident with Zarova recently, but he could tell that she just needed some more time to fully finish healing after all that had happened. It wasn't every day she suffered fainting spells due to an evil being's attempt of destroying all forms of herself across the realms, after all.
A slight chink of the chain links was the one sound, aside from a soft clack of boots against the stairs and then cobblestone of the workshop floor, that could be heard in the stillness of the workshop. Wormwood, sleeping on his perch, surprisingly did not stir at any of these sounds.
"Now, where could it be?" Blitz pondered to himself as he looked around the tower room, his eyes roving the numerous books, scientific and magical instruments, and…childish drawings pasted to the walls. He rolled his eyes. "A perfectly respectable workshop marred by the sight of such ugly drawings."
"Pretty sure their kids did that," Cybil Marie returned, snorting. "I never understood that situation… Something about the youngest princess having a lovey-dovey 'partnership' with her royal sorcerer, and they magically produced kids or something." Her nose crinkled at the very idea. "Can you imagine? She's a princess with all the riches and opportunities in the world, and she chases after a commoner and gets stuck having kids with him. I could never…"
Blitz smirked at her words. "Don't believe in true love, despite status, eh, Cybil Marie?"
She returned the smirk. "True love is overrated."
The redhead chuckled before beginning to inspect some of the walls, noting with interest that one section seemed to be slightly discolored. "Hmm…" He held a hand up, using his dark magic infused with his lightning to cut into the stone.
Cybil Marie watched with interest as the Elemental finished his task, removing the section of the wall to reveal what they'd come for. "There it is…"
Blitz quickly grabbed the Galactica Spellbook, containing the Dimension Door Cedric had sealed away for safety, and turned to his charge. "We've got what we need. Let's go."
Hours later in an unknown headquarters, all of the Elementals were gathered with Master Extorio, who was more of a darkly shrouded figure than anything at the moment, the opaque fabric of his robes encasing his form within. Even Caledon the Cunning was there, having escaped from his cell with Zeke (who'd been re-captured due to his own carelessness and carted back to his confinement). And how had they escaped in the first place? Slowly but surely wearing away at the hard clay walls of their cells and covering any traces of their progress with carefully placed furniture or other items they found. Eventually, they'd created a hole big enough to climb out and discovered that it led to the outside, which aided them in escaping. Well… Caledon anyway.
"Who's this?" Cybil Marie asked defiantly as she glared at the middle-aged man. "He doesn't look like he belongs here."
"Same could be said for you, brat," the man bit back. "Master Extorio himself invited me, if you must know." He folded his arms. "I have unfinished business with all the Enchancians, especially their royal sorcerer and his family."
"The princess?" the blonde asked curiously.
"More like his sister—my ex-wife."
Cybil Marie's mouth dropped. "Y-You're Calista's father?" She then laughed, shaking her head. "No wonder she's so strange. Her own father is a villain!"
Caledon sneered at her. "You say 'villain.' I say charismatic mastermind with a score to settle."
The former Hexley Hall student snickered, turning to walk back to Blitz. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, old man."
"It is finally time," Master Extorio began, his voice a booming and commanding baritone, an underlayer of echoes and whispers following. He held up the book. "This Galactica Spellbook is the creation of Cedric, the royal sorcerer of Enchancia, along with several other powerful magic wielders. Thanks to Yeizou and Topaz having attended a conference where the sorcerer spoke, we know the words to unleash the power sealed within…" He lowered the book, placing one hand over it as he spoke, "Ratio Veni Magia."
The book opened and morphed into the Dimension Door, hovering intimidatingly before them all.
"And why did we need this again exactly, Master Extorio?" Zemeo wondered.
"Excellent question, Zemeo." The entity gestured toward the looming door. "This will help aid in the further annihilation of even more than those seventeen realms we've already successfully destroyed." He turned slightly toward Zarova, whom he could tell was silently fuming. As it stood, her mission had recently failed; all three realms (Ever Realm, Abstruce Realm, and Absentia Realm) were still intact, and Sofia was still very much alive in all of them. "Perhaps this will make achieving our goals much easier. We will begin our venture once again. The Dimension Door will aid us in keeping things quick and efficient, and ironically enough, be the catalyst for our first and most important realm destruction." He waved one hand, watching as the door flew open, the sleeping kingdom of Enchancia innocently lying beyond the threshold. "The Ever Realm."
To be continued…
