It was a normal spring day in the land of Axle City.
At the park, Blaze and AJ were playing soccer with Starla, Stripes, Watts and Gabby. Darington and Zeg watched them from the sidelines, cheering each team on.
Crusher and Pickle are with them as well, but Pickle was the only one cheering for the teams while Crusher was reading a book beside him, grimacing with each loud cheer his best friend yelled out.
Soon, the two teams were close to tie up their scores. The Boys Team had 10 points while the Girls Team had 14 points.
By then, Darington, Zeg and Pickle were already making bets on who the winning might be. Crusher rolled his eyes at them with a sigh.
"Does it matter which team wins?" he grumbled. "It's obvious that it's the girls,"
"Ha! Told you, Zeg!" Darington grinned. "That's a vote from me, Pickle AND Crusher!"
"Zeg still believe Blaze, AJ and Stripes will win!" Zeg shook his head. "Zeg bet 30!"
"I bet 30 too!" Pickle called out.
"This money's not gonna be wasted!" Darington cried out, taking out the same amount of money.
"Come on, Crusher!" Pickle urged his best friend. "Bet with us! Bet with us!"
"Not with the amount of pocket money Grammy sends me weekly," Crusher huffed. "Maybe next time,"
"Still a 2 out of 3!" Darington exclaimed. "GO, GIRLS TEAM!"
"GO, BOYS TEAM!" Zeg cheered.
"GO, FRIENDS!" Pickle jumped up. "GO! GO! GO!"
Crusher rolled his eyes at them and went back to his book to ignore them. Just as he did, he heard soft flapping from above, and he looked up to see a glowing blue bird made of crystal flying towards them.
Wait, a GLOWING blue bird? Made of crystal?!
"What the…?!" Crusher jumped back, crashing onto the tree behind him. "Ow~"
"Crusher!" Pickle drove towards him to help him up. "You okay?"
"Yes…" Crusher groaned. "but I think I'm seeing things because I think I just saw—"
"Crystal blue bird!"
They both turned to see Zeg and Darington gasping as the blue bird flew towards them. Pickle's eyes widened before he squealed.
"Pretty bird!" he sped towards the bird as he held out a tire. "It's so bright and crystall-y! Hi, little birdie!"
The crystal bird gave a chirp as it landed one of it's tires on Pickle's. The green truck giggled.
"D'aww!" he patted it gently. "It's so cute too!"
"What crystal bird doing here?" Zeg wondered.
"Yeah," Darington agreed. "There aren't really any crystal birds in Axle City. Wonder where this one came from,"
The crystal bird gave a tweet and another chirp before fluttering it's wings up, dropping a small envelope on the ground from it's other tire. Crusher spotted it and took it into his tires.
"Huh," he looked over at it. "It says here that this is for… Blaze?"
"Hey, BLAZE!" Darington called out to the field. "You've got an envelope or something!"
"Huh?" Blaze turned to him, causing the ball to roll off for Watts to take. "An envelope? From where?"
"A cute crystal blue bird!" Pickle cooed, patting the creature beside them.
"A crystal blue bird?" Blaze's eyes lit up before leaving the field to approach them.
The crystal blue bird spotted him and let out happy tweets. It flew towards him and landed on his tire with a chirp. Blaze giggled.
"Hey there, Crysta," he gently stroked the crystal bird's head. "What are you doing so far from home?"
Crysta chirped at the touch then she flew to Crusher and grabbed the envelope with her beak. She then turned back to him and handed the envelope.
"A message?" Blaze questioned, taking the envelope into his tires before releasing a gasp. "From Queen Zilina?!"
Crystal nodded and landed on Blaze's hood with a happy chirp. The friends were confused.
"Uh, B, who's Queen Zilina?" Darington asked.
"And how you know crystal bird?" Zeg added.
Blaze glanced over at them with a gasp, realizing his mistake. He then sighed and turned around.
"AJ! We've got a message!"
"A message?" AJ kicked the ball to Stripes then turned to his best friend. "From who?"
"Queen Zilina," Blaze replied, opening the envelope. "and it looks urgent,"
"On it!" AJ gave a nod and ran to him, exiting the field.
"Hey!" Stripes watched his teammate leave the field. "What about the game?!"
"Are we still playing?" Watts questioned.
"No clue," Gabby let out a sigh.
Starla chuckled and immediately turned to follow AJ, with the others following behind them as Blaze read the letter. His eyes scanned it worriedly before they widened in horror.
"Oh no!" he cried out. "Nina's excaped?!"
"What?!" AJ gasped. "But how?! I thought Queen Zilina had her locked up with the most secure magic she had!"
"I thought so too," Blaze hissed as he continued to read. "And it says here that… she has my parents?!"
"Why would Nina want your parents?!" AJ questioned.
"I… I don't know," Blaze shook his head and kept the letter. "but we can't just stand around and do nothing. We've got to help stop Nina and save my parents!"
"Woah, hold it, you two!" Starla interrupted them before either of them could leave. "What's going on right now?"
"Yeah," Watts agreed. "Like who is Nina?"
"And who's Queen Zilina?" Stripes asked.
"That's what I asked!" Darington claimed.
Blaze and AJ exchanged a glance. The boy smiled.
"We need to tell them,"
"Seems that way," the red truck sighed with a nod then he turned back to his friends. "Guys, we have something to tell you all…"
"What is it, Blaze?" Gabby tilted her head curiously.
"I… We…" Blaze took a deep breath before releasing another sigh. "AJ and I… are fairies,"
"WHAT?!"
Everyone's jaws all dropped at the announcement. Crusher looked faint while Pickle was beaming in excitement.
"REALLY?!" he squealed. "LIKE REAL FAIRIES?! WITH REAL MAGIC AND EVERYTHING?!"
"Shh, keep it down," AJ shushed him, looking around cautiously. "Not everyone is friendly when it comes fairies,"
"But yeah, we really are fairies," Blaze confirmed with a nod. "We've got real magic, and we come from a fairy world that's beyond from Axle City,"
"Alright… but who's Queen Zilina?" Stripes asked. "And who's Nina?"
"Queen Zilina is the queen of all the fairies in the fairy world," AJ explained. "Nina is her younger sister, the once princess of the fairy world,"
"Nina and their mother used to help Queen Zilina rule the fairy world," Blaze went on. "One day, Nina had turned against the queen and tried to kill her to take the throne. Their mother had tried to stop her, but as soon as Queen Zilina had her imprisoned, the Grand Queen disappeared,"
"And now evil fairy escape?" Zeg questioned.
"That's what it says on the letter," AJ nodded.
"And she's captured your parents too, B?" Darington frowned. "That's rough,"
"I know," Blaze sighed.
"But why did she capture your parents if her battle was with the queen?" Watts wondered.
"Well, it could be because Blaze's Parents are the Queen's most trusted guards and bravest knights of all the realm," AJ theorized. "With them out of the picture, Nina's free to harm Queen Zilina and take the throne!"
"And if she takes the throne then all the magic in the world would be hers," Blaze added. "She'd be invincible!"
"Well, if you two are going then we'll go too!" Stripes volunteered. "Right, everyone?"
The others agreed, all heads nodding at the statement. Only Crusher was hesitant.
"Do we have to?" he complained.
"YOU don't have to, ya know," Starla rolled her eyes.
"But it'll be fun!" Pickle grinned. "Besides, I'll be going to help!"
"Fine, fine," Crusher sighed. "but only because Pickle's going and because there aren't any races to prepare today,"
"You guys… don't have to do that, you know," Blaze gulped guiltily.
"We're your friends, Blaze," Darington smiled. "We'll do anything to help you out,"
"Aw, thanks guys, we appreciate it," AJ returned the smile.
"Well, if you guys really want to…" Blaze let out a sigh and looked up at them with a smile. "Alright. You can all come, but you guys have to be careful. The fairy world is a lot different from Axle City,"
"I'm sure we can handle it!" Starla waved off the concern.
"And you guys will be there, so I'm sure that we'll be fine," Gabby assured him.
"But how we get to fairy world?" Zeg tilted his head.
"That's easy!" Blaze beamed. "Through the tree!"
