"I'm so drunk I can barely see, but it helps me get through another day!"
You look at the girl and you don't know what to say. You're not sure if she's going to be able to tell you anything useful or if this is just a one time thing.
"Okay then, I guess we'll do that. So how old are you?" you ask.
She looks down for a moment before looking up with a smile.
"Oh, uh... I'm fifteen."
She says nervously.
"Ah, I thought that perhaps you were older. You seem much too young to carry a cigarette, let alone smoke one."
She laughs at your statement, and takes another puff from the cigarette.
"You know, I got my driver's permit when I was thirteen. My uncle bought me this car. He's like a drug dealer or something. I... I really like being high..."
You nod and let her talk. This girl might actually be helpful.
"So... Do you like smoking?"
"Not really."
You say, which causes her to frown and look down in disappointment.
"Sorry." "Don't be. So do you have a name?"
She smiles again.
"Of course. It's Ruby."
"I'm Jaune."
"Anything else you want to tell me about yourself? Because I know there's got to be some deep dark secret that my dad is going to love to hear."
"Do I look like I'm hiding anything?"
"No, but you seem so serious. You're probably hiding something really bad. Like murder. Or sex."
"Ruby, I don't think-"
"Or both!"
She finishes with a laugh.
"Okay, I don't have anything like that. Well at least not that I'd tell you anyway."
"You could always tell me you killed mom..." Ruby jokes with a smirk.
"No, that's not it. I just don't have anything interesting to tell you."
"Oh come on, you're a grown man. You can have something interesting."
"Like what?"
"How about how you stole that girl's underwear while she was stepping out of a shower?"
"You saw that?"
"Well not everything, but I see the two of you do that all the time. You never even try to hide it anymore."
"I guess I don't anymore."
"Hm. So what do you do for fun?"
"I don't really do much of anything."
"You should go out more. I don't go out at all, but I listen to music in my room and think up plans to steal stuff."
"How old are you then?"
"I dunno, my mom says I'm seventeen, but I'm probably more like fifteen." You nod.
"That's what I thought."
"So what do you do for fun?"
"I go hiking and try to get away from people."
"Interesting."
Ruby says with a smirk. You continue to talk with Ruby for a bit, before you realize that it's late.
"I should go."
You say.
"Okay, I'll walk you home."
Ruby says.
"You don't have to do that."
"I want to."
Ruby says with a smile. Once on your way home, you realize just how much of a Bloody Mess you probably are.
"I'm kind of surprised that you're letting me walk you home."
You say.
"Is that a bad thing?" Ruby asks.
"No, but I'm probably going to smell pretty bad."
"Then you better hurry up and get all grungy with me then."
You let out a chuckle and Ruby smiles at you.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Ruby asks, "How about you tell me about yourself."
You smile back.
"I don't mind talking about myself, though I'm not sure if I'll be all that interesting."
"Well you will be, because that's how I decide whether or not to kill you!"
Ruby says with a laugh. You let out a chuckle and begin to talk about your life in Mistral. Ruby seems genuinely interested in what you have to say. You talk about your family, your friends, your time in the military and even some of your fights. Ruby listens to everything you say with intrigue. You can't help but like her even more after spending time with her. When you arrive at your home, the two of you stop.
"Well, I guess I'll see you later then."
Ruby says.
"Will you be at school tomorrow?" You ask.
"Probably not, no. I'm not on the morning classes."
"Well then, maybe we can spend time together after school then."
"That sounds nice." Ruby smiles.
The two of you approach each other and give a quick hug, which you return.
"I'll see you later then, I have to go help mom with dinner." "See you later."
Ruby says, walking away.
