Should be starting another multichapter fic? No, am I? ABSOLUTLY

I had this idea and it wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it down. This will basically be cannon Magnus. The main plot should be pretty similar to the books but all the details will be different. Magnus will seem a little gruff, but remember he is always trying to pass off that tough kid vibe, and he HAS been hanging out with Annabeth…. When we get to his Pov the fluff will come pouring out.

The first time I woke up there was a blond girl hovering over me and feeding me popcorn flavored pudding with a spoon. The next time I opened my eyes there was another blond kid, this time a boy, leaning against the wall by the door.

Grover was introducing the people at the other end of the porch. "-and the girl is Annabeth, she's just a camper but she and her cousin have been here longer than almost anyone else.

Mr. Brummer called the girl over,

"Annabeth why don't you run ahead and help Magnus set up Percy's bunk. Hell be staying in Cabin 11 for now."

She nodded and looked over at me

"You drool in your sleep."

Well that was just great.

As we neared cabin 11 I could see Annabeth sitting on the porch, reading a book. There was another kid sitting on the railing, throwing rocks at a target painted on the rafters. He looked familiar although I had no clue where I would have seen him before. He and Annabeth looked really similar. As we got closer I could see that they had the same intimidating grey eyes, although his seemed softer somehow. They also had the same blond hair. They even sported matching daggers. Not intimidating at all.

Annabeth was the first to look up, she said something to the boy and he swung down off the railing landing next to Annabeth on the porch.

"Percy, you've already met Annabeth, this is Magnus. They've been looking after you while you were sick."

So that's how I recognized him, he'd been the kid glaring at me from the corner of the room.

"Annabeth, Magnus, I have masters archery class at noon. Would you take Percy from here?"

"Yes sir." They replied at almost the same time. It was a little creepy.

"Cabin eleven Percy, make yourself at home." And with that Chiron cantered off. Leaving me with blond and scary numbers one and two.

"Well, go on." Annabeth prompted. Magnus was still standing silently, giving me the stink eye.

Naturally I tripped going in the door, as I entered someone called out.

"Regular or undetermined?"

"Undetermined" Magnus answered. Whatever that meant. A teenager stepped forward, maybe around 19. Looking for all the world like a stereotypical camp counselor except for the large scar running down his face.

"This is Luke" it was Magnus again but his voice sounded different, happy almost.

I went on ahead into the cabin, trying to figure out what undetermined meant until Annabeth pulled me back outside of the cabin.

"You have to do better than that Jackson." She was still pulling me along. With Magnus walking on her other side.

"What! I have no clue what's going on right now. Like why do I have to stay in Cabin 11 anyways, it's so crowded. And what does undetermined mean?"

Annabeth stopped walking and inhaled like she was going to answer but Magnus beat her to it.

"You're staying in cabin eleven because your unclaimed which means your godly parent hasn't claimed you yet. Cabin eleven is so crowded because it's full of kids that their parents didn't want."

Magnus turned and walked away, a slight scowl on his face. Despite his expression I couldn't help but hear the bitterness and sorrow in his voice.

"Don't mind him" Annabeth said with a small sigh, looking after Magnus as he disappeared over the hill.

"So what's up with you and Magnus, you look very similar. Is he a child of Athena too?" The question seemed to make her a little sad.

"Magnus is my cousin on the mortal side. We just both happen to be demigods. We've been here for five years.

"Cousins, that's cool! Since most of the gods are related does that make you double cousins or…"

"That's the thing, we don't know. Magnus is unclaimed."

"He's been unclaimed for five years!"

Annabeth nods, biting her lip and looking like she's regretting telling me. I try to tone it down. No wonder the poor guy sounded so upset when I kept harping on about being claimed.

"So he lives in Cabin eleven?" maybe I could get a bunk near him.

"Yeah, I tried to get him moved to the Athena cabin with me but Chiron said it's against the rules." She looked kind of sour about it, I was starting to think that she and Magnus were close.

"Do you guys know Luke?" I asked, remembering their rection when he came out of the cabin.

"Yeah" she didn't elaborate.

I didn't ask anymore personal questions after that and stuck to my long list of question about the camp. I ended up forgetting about Magnus until he stuck his head into the bathroom right as the plumbing exploded, the look on his face was priceless. He seemed to recover pretty quickly though.

"Get lost Clarisse." She scowled and looked like she wanted to punch him but her friends dragged her away.

"So Percy-" he walked over and gave Annabeth a hand up, I'm pretty sure if I had tried to help her she would've broken my hand. " Was that you?"

"I guess so" I was pretty positive but how could I expect them to believe me? Magnus nodded like that was perfectly reasonable answer and started wringing out his shirt.

They finished showing me around camp and then Annabeth excused herself to go train, leaving me standing there awkwardly with Magnus. Finally he broke the silence.

"Lets go beck to Hermes cabin and get you set up, Luke should have gotten your stuff by now. I'm guessing Annie told you I live in the Hermes cabin." I nodded, my brain taken up with the fact that he called her ANNIE. We headed off to the cabin.

Over the next few days I settled into a routine, learning ancient Greek with Annabeth and sometimes Magnus in the mornings and rotating activities for the rest of the day. Thursday I had my first sword fighting lesson, Luke paired me up with Magnus, who drew his sword with a grimace. Shooting a fond look at the dagger he had been forced to discard. I guessed that sword fighting wasn't his favorite pastime.

Magnus gave me a small smile over his bottle of water.

"You're doing pretty good for your first time." That was the first compliment he'd given me.

I felt like we were making progress.
