"You're nothing more than a stupid, shut-in NEET!"

"And look who's talking! You're as worthless as a bag of sand sitting in the desert! 'Goddess' my ass! You can't even get one damn thing right."

And there they were, once again at each other's throat. Kazuma and Aqua, two members of the same group--the fighting never ends. It was funny at first, but now it was quite irritating.

Megumin and Darkness followed behind their bickering friends. Their slouching posture expressed just how mentally and physically drained they were, and they were just about tired of hearing the two arguing. Why couldn't they just have one day without them getting at each other's throat?

"Can you two please stop? Bickering amongst--"

"Shut it, Darkness!"

"Shut it, Darkness!"

The blonde squealed in utter glee after their harsh remark. But that was Darkness being Darkness, the masochist crusader. Megumin simply sighed and didn't even bother to say anything.

She knew better than to get involved, at this point.

It was the same thing everyday: they get up in the morning, argue; their on a mission, argue. They were like water and oil.

Entering their home after the long trip, they each went to their respective rooms for the day. It was, for the first time since the quest, tht there was actual silence for once. Just being around those two was enough to make anyone want to damage their eardrums in efforts of attaining some peace and quiet.

Nightfall had come. As everyone was busy sleeping, Kazuma was still awake in his room. Judging by the fact that he was staring at the door, he was either waiting for someone to enter, or he was that lost in thought that he wasn't even aware that he was. Upon hearing the door jiggling, he sat up almost immediately, yet he didn't seem to be in a state of panic by someone entering his room at this time of night. As the door slowly opened, it was revealed that the person that was entering his room was none other than Aqua.

Aqua had entered Kazuma's room in her usual pajamas, though the lower pants were missing, displaying her legs and thighs. This was no error on her behalf; it was intentional that she'd show up to his room wearing this. Before the door could even be closed, Kazuma was already rushing over to the Goddess in that brief amount of time, planting butterfly kisses all over her. A giggle was released from her in response, the door finally closing soon after.

Aqua found herself sandwiched between Kazuma and the wall. For these two to seem so incompatible, they were definitely kissing as if they were lovers. Kazuma was anxious, like that of a husband who had been overseas for months, finally being able to come home after being separated from his lover for so long. Their attitudes had done a complete one-eighty.

"Wait, Kazuma--" Aqua couldn't even get a word out as Kazuma was too occupied kissing every visible part of her. She could tell that he was really impatient now that they finally had time to do it. However, the hard thing being pressed against her was more than enough proof of that. With her having to use her hands to force him away, Aqua caught her breathe.

"K-Kazuma...!" She spoke with a clear lack of breathe, which was stolen by Kazuma during their fervor kiss. The goddess was also blushing red, this intensifying her sex appeal for Kazuma. However, she also looked pretty mad at him about something, too. The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed.

"If this is about earlier, I didn't mean what I said," Kazuma assured her, hoping this would calm her down.

"Plus, you said some hurtful things to me, as well. Don't act you're such a saint."

Aqua moves from her place by the wall and walks over to the window. It was a full moon out, it's ghostly brilliance filling the room through his semi-transparent curtains. A sigh parts his lips as he flops back back onto his bed. The mood was gone now, and it looked like "lil' Kazuma" was not about to be having fun tonight. Aqua could see that he was in a bitter mood at the moment.

"Kazuma, I'm tired of putting on this facade around Megumin and Darkness," she states.

"They're our friends; we should be able to let them know we are seeing each other. All this worthless fighting during the day and making love at night is tiresome."

Kazuma allowed her words to soak in his brain for a moment. He was aware that that keeping such a secret could be detrimental when it came to the trust in the group; however, if it were announced that they were dating, just how they react? Lately, aside from the fake arguing, they had been really close--especially Megumin. He didn't want to get in the way of that, and if it meant keeping the relationship a secret, he was willing to do just that.

"And how do you think they would react when finding out that we are an item? And what about your status as a Goddess? Don't you think that you will be committing a taboo by being with a human?"

"Are you really going to ask me that NOW?" She replies with a rhetorical tone. "We've been having sex for the past week; don't you think my status would've been revoked by now?"

Kazuma didn't have a reply for that. She did have a point.

"Maybe we should still keep it a secret for the time being, at least," he states, getting up and making his way over to Aqua. "Now, how about we continue where we left off?"

Kazuma was definitely not thinking straight, for if he had, he would've seen how much worse he made the situation with him just dismissing it so casually. Could he not take a moment and really think about her feelings rather than sex?

Shoving him away, Aqua stomped towards the door in a fit of rage. Though, before she could make it to the door, Kazuma was quick to stand and run over to her and stand before the door, exposing just how desperate he was. If looks could kill, he would've suffered a thousand deaths from the daggers she had in her eyes as they were upon him. She folds her arms as she stood there.

"Move."

"Aqua, listen--"

"I don't wanna hear it! Are you too embarrassed by me that you don't want anyone to know!? Am I just something for you fuck!?"

"No, you're not! Dammit, Aqua, just listen to me!"

Tears began to well up in Aqua's eyes. Emotions were running high, as well as their yelling. Kazuma had seen her cry many times, however, the tears that came down her eyes were that of true pain. She was hurting; Kazuma failed to see that. Soon enough, the two weren't even allowing the other to talk and were instead having a contest to see who could talk louder than the other.

Megumin remained in bed as she heard the two going at it. During the day was fine, but while she trying to get her beauty sleep? Hell no. And why was Aqua in Kazuma's room at this time?

Leaving her room, she approached Kazuma's door, only for it to going open before her, startling the poor Arch Wizard. Exiting the room was Kazuma, who was upset beyond the point of being calmed down. He didn't even bother looking at Megumin, passing right by her and exiting the house, the slamming of the door like a crack of thunder. This was like no other arguments they had prior. Yeah, they would call each other names and say stupid things, but she never seen Kazuma this riled up. This was like a couple fighting.

Aqua was the second to enter her view. She was still in Kazuma's room, weeping softly. Megumin noticed how scantily dressed she was, showing a good amount of legs as she was sitting bedside. Truth be told, Megumin didn't know whether to be mad at Kazuma for making her cry, or be mad at them both for making such a scene while trying to sleep.

"Excuse me," Darkness tells Megumin, scooting passed her in order to join Aqua on Kazuma's bed. She did as any friend would, and, lending her her shoulder, Aqua humbly accepted, releasing her tears on her instead. Darkness had so many things she wanted to asks, though, now wasn't time to play 21 Questions.

Megumin exits the house in pursuit of Kazuma. Circling the house for a while, she noticed him standing around in the back, kicking the ground and cursing to alleviate some aggression. Megumin was cautious as she approached, not wanting to startle him.

"You okay?" She asks.

"You heard everything, right?" He replies.

"No, I didn't"

"Aqua and I are done."

Megumin had to double back a second. They were "done", as in...they were dating!? What? But she had no idea that they were even a thing.

"Done? Kazuma, you were dating Aqua? And you didn't tell us?" Megumin didn't mean to let herself to get worked up after finding out. Megumin secretly had a thing for Kazuma, so hearing that he was dating Aqua while keeping it from Darkness and, especially her, was not okay in her book.

"Are you really that selfish that you would keep something like that from me--I mean, us?!"

"Megumin, please. I'm already down as is, so just--"

And there it was. Like an cup that was too full with emotion, Kazuma had tears coming down his face, too. He was hurting just as much as Aqua was, yet he was keeping it all in--that is, until now. She joined him at his side as he continued to unleash the flood gates. The pain of heartache was truly the most lethal of any torture.

"I'm such a screw-up! Why can't I do anything right?"

"Now that's not true!" Megumin states, embracing his hand. "Kazuma, if I hadn't met you, who knows where I would've been by now. You took in a Wizard that could only perform one spell, and you even carry me back home sometimes--even though I know you squeeze my ass while you carry me. And there isn't any problem that you don't have a solution. Now you may be lazy--

"Huh? Wait, where is this going?"

"--an obvious pervert--"

"How is this supposed to make me feel better?"

"--and somewhat of a an asshole--"

"If you call this being a friend, you're very bad at it..."

"--but, that's what makes you Kazuma. You may screw up sometimes, but that make you a screw up all the time."

Bringing him into her warm embrace, she held Kazuma against her chest. She always wanted to hold him like this, wanting to be that pillar that kept his foundation stable. Her methods seem to be working, with him soon enough embracing her back.

"Thank you, Megumin. I appreciate this a lot more than you know."

There was a moment of silence as they stared into each other's eyes. The cards were all on the table, and all she had to now was make her move. She noticed Kazuma's face slowly approaching her own, his lips just inches from her own. Megumin's heart was beating so fast it echoes in her ears. They were really going to do it! She was really going to--

"Kazuma! Megumin! Where are you?" Darkness calls to them, causing them to separate immediately and sit upright as if they weren't doing anything suspicious. Noticing them, Darkness and Aqua soon join them. Aqua seems to have calmed down after their intense fight; in fact, she was actually smiling when she noticed Kazuma. She even embraced Kazuma, before giving him a kiss right on the lips.

"I guess you're not mad at me anymore?" Kazuma inquires.

"She told me everything," Darkness informs him. "If you two were dating, all you had to do was tell us. But now that we know, nothing I going to change what we have, since we're all friends."

"Friends...yeah..." Megumin says in almost an whisper.

Aqua quickly rose to her feet, grabbing Kazuma by the hand and dragging him along as she giggled with mischievous intent. He knew what that giggle signified, and after an emotion-fuelled night like this, make-up sex was going to be amazing. His luck was definitely kicking in.

"I'm guessing they're going to be at it tonight, again," Darkness says, followed by her yawing and stretching her arms. "I'm heading back to bed. See you in the morning Megumin.

Megumin follows behind Darkness, heading back into the house. She was content that everything worked out for them; however, in the back of her mind, she wished that they had their moment play out. Maybe Aqua wasn't the right one for him; maybe she was the one that he needed. These were just emotions talking. She couldn't do anything to jeapordize their friendships.

Chapter Finished.
