Hello! I bring you a new Catradora one-shot, but this time being adults. I hope you like it. :)
She-ra and The Princesses of Power belongs to Noelle Stevenson, Dreamworks and netflix.
Catra was feeling observed for some weeks now: she didn't feel any danger, but she did feel some constant eyes that penetrated her with no rest.
It didn't matter if she was training, walking down the halls, licking her hand to wash her face, bothering Sparkles or sleeping with Adora. That gaze followed her everywhere!
There were only exceptions if she was out of the castle, after lunch and sometimes during the dawn, so her escapes started to be more frequent.
She tried putting traps or catching that person infraganti, but there was never anyone, except that one time she almost gives Bow a heart attack. It was pretty funny, except for the Queen, who kept saying because of her she would have to raise their daughter alone. or something like that.
She decided it was time to go back: the afternoon snack time was close. Her wife was very tired and someone had to be awakened from their nap.
- Catra!- She could hear Glimmer's yell from outside the castle and she got goosebumps.
Every pregnancy month that passed was worse than the last one. She was way calmer in comparison… or so she thought.
A glow appeared in front of her and before she could react she was teleported inside the castle, giving her sickness.
- Don't you dare throwing up after what you've done to the wall!- The girl was really mad at her, so she recomposed herself to look at her.
- They're just a couple scratches to file my nails, it's nothing new.- She said shrugging it off, because she never got actually angry because of that, but her face showed all the opposite.
Glimmer approached Catra with her face red of fury, to which Catra could only lower her ears and search for an escape route.
- Can I know what is all this yelling about?- Adora's voice was like a heavenly song for her ears and having Bow separate Glimmer from her made her appreciate him more.
- That you don't know how to control your wife and one of these days the castle will fall down!- Now it was the blonde who was suffering her fury, unfortunately, and, pointing to the side, she kept reproaching.- Do you think it's normal how she's left the wall?-
The three of them turned and they couldn't help but amaze at the quantity of scratches the low part of the wall had.
- Wow, Catra, this time you went too far…- Bow gave her wife the reason.
- I just got home!- Catra answered, indignant.- Besides, Melog and I use the wall adjacent to our room.-
- Do you still have the feeling someone's watching you?- Her wife put a hand in her shoulder as a support sign.- Is that why you were out?-
Adora knew about it, but even with her help, they hadn't found a solution.
- You think someone's in the castle and I'm finding out just now?!- Glimmer looked at them seriously while Bow tried to calm her down with no success.
- Hello darling. How's my future granddaughter today?- Micah appeared from nowhere with a smile and ran to put his head and hands in Glitter's belly.
- Not now, dad. We have an intruder in the castle.- His daughter's comment called his attention and, when he stepped back to attend to the situation, he saw the famous wall.
- Catra, you didn't need to get that nervous… But you've been so fast: I just passed by here and it was clean.- Micah said off-handly while he thought about a plan to catch the intruder.
- Then it wasn't Catra?- Glimmer asked, taken aback looking at her father.
- Finally! Thank you!- Catra yelled relieved.
Soft steps called the feline's attention, who approached the door and waited for it to open. From the room came out their baby of little more than a year with a smile, disheveled and moving their tail with their loyal friend Melog.
- Mom!- Said Finn stretching their arms towards their feline mother, who immediately lifted them.
- Hey, Finn.- Catra greeted rubbing her cheek with Finn's, who purred as an answer.
- It's not fair you get adorable! Who would stay angry like this…- Glimmer sighed defeated by so many emotions in such a little time.- I'll call for the guard to be doubled. I'll see you later, I need a break.-
Bow decided to escort Glimmer to their room while Micah called the guard in his daughter's name. The other family, instead, went to the living room to give Finn their afternoon snack.
- Do you think who I feel is an enemy?- Catra couldn't stop thinking about it while she got the fork closer to Finn's mouth.
- You've been feeling it way too long, an enemy would have attacked by now.- Adora answered making silly faces to their little.
- Maybe it's the most intelligent and patient enemy we've ever known…- Catra said lowering the spoon and staring at the floor. -These years of peace have been very nice, but they couldn't last forever.-
- Mom, mom!- Finn fidgeted in his highchair because of the lack of food.
- I'm coming, sorry.- Catra refilled the spoon, moved it closer to their son's already open mouth and cleaned the remains that were left in their lips corners.
Once the plate was on the table, Catra got ready to wipe her face with the back of her hand. She was too tired of the subject and she couldn't think of anything. Finn stared at her with wide eyes without missing any detail and when she was about to bring her hand to her mouth, her tongue already sticking out of her, a cat snort startled her.
- What the hell is going on? You almost give me a heart attack!- Adora brought her hand to her heart after Catra's yell.
- Again! I felt that gaze… It was very close...- The cat-girls looked at every side without getting too far from her wife and covering her kid.
Adora got up too and approached her wife, but she ran out in all four, like a predatory feline, right with Melog before she could tell her anything.
- Your mom has lost the little sanity that she had left…- With a sigh she lifted Finn and, still between her arms, they went in search of the two cats.- I hope you inherit more of me than her.-
Adora didn't take long finding them sitting in the garden, moving her tail side to side.
- Did you see anything?- Adora said ,owering Finn, who ran out just like Catra and Melog before, and started playing with their mother's tail.
- Nothing. It's like they just vanished.- Catra leaned her body on Adora when she sat next to her.
- I think you should stop being so paranoid and take a closer look to your surroundings.- Adora added nonchalantly, intertwining their hands.
- What is that supposed to mean?- When she came back to her initial position she saw Finn on Adora's other side and, when they saw Catra, they also sat up straight without taking their eyes off her with a curious gaze.
Catra was unbelieving: it couldn't be what she was thinking… She brought her hand to her mouth, licked it and passed the hand across her face, exactly like in the living room, and she felt that feeling of being extremely watched. She saw with an open mouth how Finn looked at her without blinking and right after they imitated her.
The girl was speechless, this whole time it was Finn who watched her to copy her. Now she understood the extra scratches in the wall, the messy rooms, feeling like she was followed when she visited the kitchen by chance during down and how her wife was so relaxed.
- For how long have you known!?- Catra showed herself embarrassed and betrayed before such revelation.
- Since you explained to me the feeling. I lived the same when I met you.- Adora looked at Catra with nostalgia.- Since it was me who picked you from the box and who took care of you, I guess you took me as a reference and you imitated everything I did.
- I didn't know… I guess it was something intuitive that I didn't even notice myself.- Catra smiled thinking about those times, but then she realized something.- Wait a moment, you knew since the beginning and you left me to stay up all night, walking for hours around the forest and living a constant paranoia?!-
- I wanted you to know what it felt like without anyone explaining it to you! At least I've told you, instead I had to find out by myself.- Adora answered outraged.
- You won't get rid of this, Adora.- Catra took a fighting stance and noticed how Finn got next to her to imitate her with a big smile.
- Did anyone say Swift Wind?- Out of nowhere, Adora's alicorn appeared, making the three feline jump.
- You damn bug. One of these days I'm gonna roast it!- Catra said, snorting like a cat and showing her sharp nails to the animal. Adora was on her back with Finn behind her with a pout on their face and without letting go of her leg. For their part Melog was in the rear.
- Don't say those things about the poor thing! I don't say those things about…- Before she could finish her sentence, Adora heard another snort down her legs and she saw how Finn was also showing their nails to the animal in a predatory way.- See what you did!-
-If it wasn't enough with the crazy cat-girl and her double alien pet, now we have another in portable size.- The alicorn muttered, but seeing his battle companion's furious look he rectified.- Adora, it doesn't matter if we're outnumbered. The Great Swift Wind is worth a million cats!-
A third snort was heard and, before he could react, Melog was chasing Swift Wind, who tried to escape flying however he could. Adora ran behind them to stop the cat, while Catra laughed doing nothing.
Her family had grown a lot. Those far away days in which it was only Adora and her would always stay as a memory, but what she had now she wouldn't change it for anything.
- Catra! Help me stop them!- Adora yelled desperately, fearing losing her loyal companion.
- Melog! If you catch him you have double the ration tonight!- Catra encouraged her friend, who, to Adora's anger, followed the alicorn with more desire. The feline got down to lift her kid in her arms and they got closer to rub their cheek with their mother's while purring. -It's good to have a sidekick. We'll make them all angry starting tomorrow.-
Since she was in Bright Moon she had tried to prove her change in comparison to when she was in the Horde. But now, knowing there was someone who had her as a referent, it was a lot of responsibility: she hoped she could rise to the challenge. In any case, Adora would always be with her to make sure she made everything right. That's why, she could have the luxury of spoiling Finn as much as possible.
- For the honor of Grayskull!- Adora's yell made her get out of the trance. With fear and red-faced, she ran out with their kid between her arms to prevent her wife killing her friend.
Catra couldn't be happier with her family and she would try to spend her whole life taking care of them and loving them all, even her wife's damn alicorn.
I wanna say this one-shot came up because one day I remembered a video about a kitten imitating their mom. .
The time flew by while writing it, and both my beta and I got really excited when we saw it was over 2k words. I hope you're as excited when you proofread it! xD
A tight hug to anyone who's come this far and specially to my beta, whose support makes me keep writing.
