I just can't help but love these two together. Hope you guys enjoy it!
Against the World
It was a very special day indeed. They had graduated, they were all 18. The world was now theirs for the taking. Pretty much all of them had a good job in sight for the next year. They were pro-heroes now.
Such a situation demanded a proper celebration. Therefore, there they were, the entire class A, drinking and partying like there was no tomorrow in Momo's house, gracefully offered by her parents who were in Europe for a business trip.
After some good hours of this, not a single one of them was sober. Not even Tenya, nor Izuku. Drunk, in different degrees, but all drunk.
Mina looked around the room, at all her dear friends gathered, and suddenly an idea crossed her mind – the perfect idea for their last get-together as high school students.
"Hey, guys, why don't we play truth or dare?"
Toru, Kirisihima, Kaminari, Mineta and even Kyoka immediately agreed. Some of the other were reluctant, but by now the alcohol was speaking louder than their reasons. As Mina set the bottle and organized the circle, even Bakugou and Todoroki found a place to sit.
"Okay, so I'll go first!" the pink girl promptly announced, spinning an empty beer bottle. The neck pointed to Tenya.
"Okay, so rep, truth or dare?"
He rolled his eyes.
"We no longer have classes, so I'm no longer class representative."
"Nobody caaaares." She whined. "Just pick one: truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Booring. Okay, so, who were the first girl you ever kissed?"
His cheeks went slightly red with the question.
"Ahm, it was a girl from my middle school. It was just one kiss, though."
Whistles and catcalls filled the room.
"Oh, my!" Toru exclaimed. "Now I want to hear all about it!"
Tenya, however, refused to answer any further questions, spinning the bottle himself, which ended up pointing to Mineta.
The girls visibly cringed.
"Truth or dare, Mineta-kun?"
"Why, dare of course!"
A devilish grin spread over Tenya's face.
"Okay, I dare you not to speak or look at any girl's intimate parts until tomorrow."
Mineta panicked.
"Wait, what? That's not fair! Is it even in the rules?"
Mina shrugged.
"Ain't no rules in truth or dare, kid. You heard him. No speaking of or looking at boobs or asses or anything of the sorts until dawn."
He gulped, focusing very hard on Mina's face.
"Good boy, Mineta-kun!"
Everyone laughed.
"You were wickedly clever, rep!" Mina declared.
Mineta, still whining, took the bottle and spun it. The neck pointed to Ochaco.
"Truth or dare, Uraraka?"
She hesitated for a second. The alcohol was numbing much of her insecurities, but now that it was her turn, she suddenly felt nervous and exposed, especially since it was Mineta, of all people, who were going to decide her challenge.
"Truth." She opted for the safer route.
"Are you still in love with Midoriya?"
Suddenly, she was very aware of two boys in their circle. Deku, of course, who was now looking at her visibly embarrassed, and Bakugou, who was staring daggers at her. She shivered.
"I was never in love with Deku-kun. He is my best friend."
The girls seemed disappointed to hear such news.
"Then who are you in love with?" Mineta pushed.
Ochaco, however, was having none of it.
"Nope. I already told my truth."
She spun her bottle, much more concerned with the fact Bakugou had gotten up and left. Her bottle pointed to Kirishima, who chose dare of course, and Ochaco just said the first thing to come to her mind.
"I dare you to kiss Mina."
The commotion was such that Ochaco was able to quietly snick out of the circle, going to find Bakugou.
The house, however, was way too enormous. She was never going to find him if he didn't want to be found.
She decided to text.
Where are you?
It took him a good five minutes to answer.
Second floor, third door on the left.
Ochaco took the stairs down to the second floor and found the door. It was a simple common room, with a couch on the wall and some pillows on top of a fluffy carpet, where Bakugou was now lying.
"We shouldn't be here." She said.
He shrugged.
"I'm sure Yaoyorozu's folks won't mind. They are filthily rich."
She sighed and went to sit next to him.
"Your mood is killing my buzz." She declared. "We had this conversation like, a million times."
"Fuck it. I don't like it. You can't make me like it."
"What do you want me to say? I don't like him like that. I've told you that. It really feels like I told you that a thousand times. Why don't you believe me?"
He didn't answer. He didn't even look at her.
"Katsuki!" she was exasperated.
It wasn't common knowledge, hell, it was totally a secret, but Ochaco and Bakugou had been together since second year. Well, they weren't really together, it was more like a "let's train and have a heavy make out session afterwards" kind of affair. She asked him to help her improve, he agreed. The rest was history.
"I don't know why you get so upset every damn time. You don't want us to be together, you never told me you like me, but still every fucking time someone asks me anything about Deku you flip."
Bakugou couldn't help but laugh at her cursing. He definitely was a bad influence on that pretty mouth of hers.
"Don't laugh! Did you hear anything I say?"
"I did. And you are drunk, so stop it."
"I'm not drunk, not anymore. You killed my buzz. I'm pretty sure you are drunk, though."
In a quick move, he pinned her on the rug, securing her hands with his. She looked absolutely delicious tonight, with a short pink skirt and a white shirt that left her underwear way too visible for his taste. It should be for his eyes only.
He kissed her aggressively and she responded with all she got, fighting to free her arms, but failing in the mission.
He pushed her shirt up, exposing the pink lace of her bra.
"This is new". He whispered, feeling excited already.
"Yeah, well, since I'm a hired pro-hero now I figured I could afford to buy something a little bit fancier than my usual."
Bakugou licked his lips and the sight sent shivers all over Ochaco's body. They never had sex. Well, they had done pretty much everything but sex, but when you lived in the school's dorm with your whole class down the same roof there were certain boundaries that should be respected. They would sure get caught if they went all the way.
"However, I don't think you deserve this treat, not after your dramatic exit."
Bakugou growled. There was no fucking way he would manage not to get his hands on her now that he had seen that.
"I mean, we are nothing to each other, anyway, so why should you get to see my new underwear?"
She managed to slip away from his grasp, adjusting her shirt back, tucking it in her skirt.
"Come on!" he whined, getting closer to her.
She held him at arm's length.
"I mean it. I know you are probably way too drunk right now, but we should talk. Once you are sober."
We should talk.
He dreaded those words coming from her. Ever since the first time they kissed, he lived waiting for the day she would realize she made a grave mistake. She would realize it was not with him she should be with.
"I'm not drunk. I stopped drinking hours ago."
"I don't believe you."
He rolled his eyes.
"I'm not fucking drunk. So, let's just get it over with."
The way he put it hurt her. Get it over with. As if she meant nothing more to him than the occasional hook up.
"You know what, Katsuki? I changed my mind. I have nothing to say to you, after all."
And she just got up and out of the room.
She found Tsuyu and the other girls and decided to stick to their side for the rest of the night. The game of truth or dare, thankfully, was already over.
A couple of hours later, Ochaco received a text from Kirishima.
Girl, I promise you I will do anything you ask of me if you just please take idiot Katsuki out of my hands.
She sighed before texting back.
What happened?
I don't fucking know! He went back to the room after leaving so dramatically and drank way more than he should and now he is drunk as a skunk and whining and calling your name and I would really REALLY owe you one if you just took him with you.
Ochaco sighed again. Stupid, stupid boy, stupid, stupid hot and rude boy who she had madly fell in love with.
Okay. I'm coming.
THANK YOU.
Ochaco walked over to where the boys were and found Kirishima and Katsuki on a forgotten couch, hidden in a poorly illuminated corner of the bar-room.
"There she is, bro, now you behave, okay?" Kirishima said as soon as Ochaco was close enough to them.
"I owe you big time." He whispered in her ear before disappearing to the next room.
Ochaco sat on the couch and Katsuki immediately laid his head on her lap.
"Where did you go?" he whined.
Although she was really mad at him, she couldn't help but laugh at how cute he looked drunk like that.
"I had to leave because you were being a jerk." She answered.
He made some incomprehensible sounds and passed his arms around her waist, holding her close to him.
"You smell so good…" he murmured.
Ah, gods… that was why she never resisted him, never managed to stay truly mad, to put a final end to their thing. He was just too adorable when he wanted to.
"I'm sorry I was a jerk. I love you."
She froze.
"What did you say?"
"I love you, Ochaco."
She felt warmth spreading through her cheeks. Was he serious? No, he couldn't be. He was way too drunk to be serious. But what was that old saying? The alcohol goes in, the truth comes out. In vino veritas.
"We can talk about that tomorrow, okay? When you are sober."
"Fine, fine." He pouted.
She chuckled. Oh, gods. He was definitely going to be the death of her. She started running her fingers on his hair and humming something softly, something, she surprised even herself with the realization, her mother used to hum to her when she was little.
Soon, Katsuki was asleep in her lap.
"Are you okay, Ochaco-chan?" Midoriya asked a few minutes later, sitting in the arm of the couch, next to her best friend.
She smiled.
"Yes, I'm fine."
"I…" he hesitated before continuing. "I didn't know you two were that close."
"Ah, I'm to blame for that. I didn't know how to tell you, so I just kept it a secret, you know? It wasn't official anyway. I think Eijiro is the only one who knows."
"I'm sorry if I made it hard for you to tell me. I mean, considering our history, mine and Kacchan's."
"You didn't make it hard. I just… I don't know. I feared you could, somehow, feel betrayed. Like I was abandoning you for your number one rival. I didn't want to make you feel like that. And on the other hand, it's impossible to talk about you with him, so…"
She felt tears gathering at her eyes. Almost two years she had kept all of that bottled up inside of her.
"It really is hard. Being in love with him but being your best friend. It's hard to balance it. But I manage. I've been managing it and I'll keep managing it."
Izuku patted her in the head.
"I'm sorry it's hard. I was a terrible friend, not noticing it. It doesn't have to be hard, I promise you. I don't feel betrayed, at all. I swear! All I want to know is: does he make you happy?"
Ochaco smiled to him.
"Yes. Yes, he does."
Katsuki woke up with the sun in his face. Strangely, that was one of the best sleeps he had in a long time. Observing his situation better, it wasn't hard to figure out why: he had slept on Ochaco's lap. How he had ended up there, however, was a total mystery to him.
He remembered Ochaco leaving, so mad for something he had said, and then he was drinking with Kirishima again. Drinking and drinking and drinking. Until he was stupid drunk all over again. The rest was a cloud of feelings he couldn't really figure out.
"Hey." He whispered softly. "Ochaco!"
She mumbled something, but didn't open her eyes. He let himself smile. The things he felt for that girl… It was amazing, really, how she managed to creep up inside his heart so quickly. He would undoubtedly go to hell for her, and yet… he couldn't manage the words. That was what she wanted, right? The words. However, it was hard for him – almost impossible really – to articulate them without losing his shit.
He kissed her temples.
"Ochaco, wake up. We should get going. I'll buy you breakfast."
The mention of breakfast reached her, and she started to slowly awaken.
"Katsuki?" she said, yawning.
"Let's go, angel."
"But I, our friends, I mean…" She was still too sleepy to form any coherent sentences.
"Fuck 'em. We spent three years with these fuckers already. Come on."
She gave up and shrugged. Bakugou offered his hand to her. She took it and he entwined their fingers. She was surprised. He had never done that – hold her hand in public. She felt the butterfly in her stomach flutter.
"What do you feel like eating?"
"Pancakes!" she exclaimed a little bit too loud.
"Shut upppp." Someone whined in the distance.
"You shut up, idiot." Bakugou retorted, but Ochaco just laughed.
"Let's go, Katsuki."
For Ochaco's surprise, he held her hands the whole way until a small American-style coffee shop not far from Momo's house. Although it was quite early in a Sunday morning, they were already open.
"Did you know this place?" she asked, surprised.
"I looked it up, okay? Deal with it."
Ochaco smiled. So, he did care. Despite all the act, he actually cared. She knew she ought to know that already, but sometimes her insecurity kicked in and she questioned everything, every touch, every look, every lust-filled whisper.
A waitress sat them in a reserved table, doing a very good job at pretending she didn't notice their wrinkled clothes and messed hairs.
Once she left, Bakugou declared:
"Okay, so what did you want to talk about? No, no, first, what did I say that made you so upset?"
Ochaco sighed.
"I overreacted, that's all. It's just… I never know, you know? I live in fear you'll wake up one day and decide you wasted enough of your time on me already."
Bakugou was speechless for a second. He opened his mouth a few times, just to end up closing it again.
"That's really fucked up." He finally declared. "As I feel the same."
"Wait. What?"
He shrugged.
"Me too, angel face. I don't know what you saw in a motherfucker like me. I don't know when you'll decide it's time you stop playing around with me and go to who you are really supposed to be with."
Ochaco was absolutely shocked.
"You don't mean Deku?"
His whole face contorted as if he had smelled something stinky.
"Katsuki! You are not serious. That can't be true."
"Yeah, well, it is. Enjoy my fucking openness and shitty words because it won't be like that every day."
She sighed. She never said the words to him because she was afraid it would scare him away, but maybe… Maybe it was exactly what would make him stay.
"I love you, you fucking idiot, always had. Ever since our dumb fight in first year, because that's how messed up my head is."
He laughed.
"I'm really such a bad influence on you. But, I…"
The waitress decided to come back, interrupting him.
"Do you know what you want to order?"
Ochaco looked at her, trying to hide her exasperation.
"Pancakes with syrup and a cup of black coffee, please."
"Very well." She smiled while taking notes. "What about you, mister?"
"Eggs and bacon and another coffee".
"Coming right up!"
She walked away, leaving them alone again.
"As I was saying…" he struggled with it a bit, but he had to say it, she deserved to hear it, she needed to hear it if they were going to be together, moving forward. "Fuck! I love you too."
His face went red as one of his explosions and Ochaco felt tears forming in her eyes. It was not just a drunk reverie. It was true!
"I can't believe you actually said it! I'm so happy!"
"Hey, hey, don't cry! I said for you to be fucking happy, not sad."
"It's joy tears, you jerk."
He laughed. Such a bad influence.
"Does your mom hear you speaking like this?"
Her laugh echoed his.
"And what does that mean, for us, Katsuki?"
He rolled his eyes.
"Well, it means the usual shit. You are my girlfriend, I finally get to kill fucking Deku, that kind of things."
She slapped his arms.
"Stop this nonsense already. But yes, I would like to be your girlfriend, if you are asking."
"I'm not fucking asking anything. I'm demanding."
She laughed openly and loudly, startling the waitress, who was standing on the other side of the room.
"You are something else, Bakugou Katsuki."
Their conversation just kept going, fluidly, as they were so used to do already. Ochaco felt her heart overflow with love, love for him, for that impossibly rude, handsome and kind boy sitting in front of her. She felt privileged for getting to witness what the future held for him, for them.
The waitress came back with their orders, placed it in front of them and lingered for a little longer.
"I'm sorry for prying, but you are Ground Zero and Uravity, aren't you?"
Ochaco looked at her, surprised. That she recognized Bakugou was no shock at all, but her as well?
"Ahm… Yes, yes we are."
The girl's face lit up.
"Oh, my! That's so cool! I can't believe you two are a thing and no one knows about it!"
Ochaco laughed, embarrassed. Bakugou kept very quiet, his M.O. for when civilians were talking to his hero persona. If he was dark and broody, he wasn't rude and explosive.
The waitress walked away again.
"I think we're going to be featured in some tabloids very soon." Ochaco declared before getting the first bite of her pancakes to her mouth.
"Fuck it. Let them. It's me and you against the world, Ochaco."
She smiled to him.
"Ground Zero and Uravity against the world."
For once, he had no curses to give, he just smiled.
"It has a nice ring to it." She concluded.
Indeed, it had.
