Hello everybody.
I'm surprising myself doing a Peter Parker with Michelle Jones/Spideychelle fanfic, but well here we are.
Besides relationship-wise the toxic Rey/Kylo Ren in Star Wars, Barry Allen/Iris West from Flash TV show, or The Doctor/Rose Tyler from Doctor Who, well Peter/Michelle never quite got on my not ever happening list.
In Homecoming I never had any liking towards the character given her not-so-nice attitude. Which enter Far From Home they added more depth to Michelle with making her nicer towards Peter.
Only the actors might have done a good job but writing-wise it was a total 180 with zero build-up.
Sure, in Homecoming Michelle might have been one of the only people at school to keep an eye on Peter besides Ned or having the moment at the end of friends calling her MJ, but there just wasn't a whole lot of ground.
Like would it have been so hard for MCU writers to do a scene in Infinity War film for Peter and MJ gotten closer or having in Endgame Michelle embracing Peter in a hug during the reunion between Peter and Ned? Apparently so.
Frankly, they had Michelle Jones for dropped in the MJ reference at the last-minute during Homecoming then when the character popularity took off decided to go full bore.
I wrote this fic to slide into canon somewhat to explain the change by the time of Tom's second main film.
Hallway in Midtown High School
Looking down at the recent call Peter lets out a sigh while adding Tony Stark to his block list before putting his mobile in his pocket. Maybe it's a bit petty but frankly Tony and Happy did the same thing on ghosting for months. Tony didn't even bother on mentioning was acting on his intel about the weapons shipment then Tony had the nerve to try blaming him for what happened that day.
Which during his time of not being Spider-Man post the ferry mess he researched the records and what he dug up, yeah was not happy for Tony manipulating him for fighting Captain America with the rest of Cap's allies simply because Captain America refused to sign a document stripping away every single Civil Right known to exist. Besides Iron Man may have been a hero but Steve Rogers was always his ultimate hero, both scrawny kids starting out in life with gaining powers and just trying to do what is right.
Besides Peter notes with guilt let the idea of becoming an Avenger go to his head leading to seeing helping the little guy as a chore. Not like he was doing that for months before Stark even set foot in Aunt May's house. Uncle Ben would be disappointed. After all, one would think being egotistical once for causing his uncle's death would be enough.
Feeling his spider-sense go off, which training with Matt helped hone it better and pretty much figured out that relying on Stark's tech with quit relying on his natural skills made his spider-sense weaker. Also briefly thought of calling it Peter Tingle yet quickly dismissed that as being very stupid, not to mention sounds like a bathroom problem. Regardless Peter wanted it to go off low if anybody approached with turning to see Michelle Jones standing there.
Which his feelings for Michelle well MJ are complicated. At first, just one more person that didn't treat him the best, but she seemed to always be watching him. Eventually, MJ started showing the cracks in her exterior of how lonely she is and began warming up. Well towards Ned and him at least, everybody else keeps her distance. Not that he blames her.
Since most don't like him either for following Flash's bullying, think he doesn't want friends, not exactly accurate rather lack of time due to Spider-Man and third hate somebody who's smarter than him. After all, one teacher Dr. Conners has called him brilliant but lazy. Like next Tony Stark or Hank Pym level of smarts only seemingly a lack of wanting to apply it to anything. Which again, typical Parker luck, he would if it wasn't for Spider-Man.
"Hey, you uh coming for the trip to the art museum tomorrow?" Michelle asks.
"I am and did your mother ever show up the other day?" Peter inquiries.
Nodding "Late at night for ignoring me as usual. I wanted to say… let your aunt know and well you to on thanks for the lift home" Michelle replies.
"Anytime MJ, I just wish you weren't going home to a fatherless household with a mother who barely knows you exist from never leaving the hippie lifestyle," Peter says firmly.
"Wow… that's probably the nicest thing anybody ever said to me Peter" Michelle replies lightly smiling.
"I care about people, the one time I didn't well," Peter says trailing off.
A light nod "Your uncle who got murdered by some thug. Wasn't he some lawyer who took on the cases nobody else would help out people at near free rates?" Michelle replies.
"Yeah, I don't really like talking about it and yes he was," Peter says quickly.
"Not going to press. Listen I'm not good at this for having friends or showing emotions other than basic snark, but for all the time when I called you a loser or flipped you off at homecoming, I'm sorry. For some reason, you still showed care towards me even when I didn't deserve it" Michelle says warmly.
"Hey, we all make mistakes and you're forgiven. You apologized, only a good person would do that" Peter replies.
Slightly glancing off "Thanks I think" Michelle says.
"Though I am curious why you did treat me like that in the first place?" Peter asks curiously.
"Uh, not that good with people like I said. Besides I kind of liked, well like you without really knowing how to approach you over it" Michelle explains "As friends I mean."
"Right as friends," Peter says then grinning "You've come far in the past two years."
"Thanks" Michelle replies with good naturally adding "Dork."
Suddenly Peter's phone goes off with seeing a text from Matt Murdock on finding a location for the human trafficking operation, but they need to move now so sends a quick response that he'll be there. Actually, first heard of the Murdock family from his uncle who did some lawyer work in Hell's Kitchen.
"Yeah, I have to go my aunt just texted me, and there's… well something came up," Peter says.
"Go on, go save the day," Michelle says.
"Yeah, wait what's that supposed to mean?" Peter asks trying to push down his momentary panic.
"Nothing, just an expression. I'll let Ned know you left, again" Michelle replies.
"Thanks, MJ" Peter says grinning.
Quickly Peter turns around rushing out a nearby door leading to outside Michelle follows a moment later before coming to a stop at the double doors. Looking out through one of the windows while noticing Spiderman swinging in the distance.
"Huh now I'm possibly a little surer" Michelle replies "Regardless go get them."
Deciding to get back to class Michelle turns around walking in the other direction and tries pushing down the flutter in her heart from talking to Peter.
Hope you all enjoyed this and leave a review letting me know what you think if you want.
For showing Tony and Peter relationship as it is well, I'll never write that official canon toxic mess being a good thing.
If it were up to me Peter would have been done using Iron Man's gear, smashed up those EDITH glasses first chance he got given how dangerous they were and not worrying about being the next Iron Man for knowing he wasn't in Far From Home.
The reference to Aunt May and Peter driving Michelle home is what I gather was supposed to be a scene in Homecoming of them doing that but for whatever reason, it was cut. Regrettably to I might.
My having Uncle Ben being a lawyer is a referencing to the film My Cousin Vinny where Marisa Tomei/Aunt May played the co-lead/girlfriend to Joe Pesci playing Vinny Gambinni.
Joe like Marisa is from New York and ever since discovering this connection of Marisa playing May Parker, I'm like this just too good of a chance to pass up.
So, going with this backstory I'd use Joe Pesci as Ben Parker.
Like I've said elsewhere the excuse of no more Uncle Ben dying falls apart in less than a second when Homecoming and Far From Home was simply repeating Peter losing his father figure, only with Tony instead for the Uncle role.
Michelle noting on she's surer Peter is Spiderman given how in MCU for the FFH film has apparently pieced it together herself I wanted to set up some of that.
And yeah, Peter works with Matt Murdock/Daredevil at times since I'm doing what the MCU should have done of having Peter be the bridge between the various heroes.
Every other hero in the MCU Steve Rogers got to be Captain America or Clint Barton as Hawkeye, Natasha as Black Widow, Bruce Banner as Hulk, etc. like in every other media stood on their own.
However, MCU tied so much of Peter Parker into Tony Stark to the point of Iron Boy Jr. gets frequently used unlike how MCU let every other hero stand by themselves. Yet Peter is linked with Tony, with made worse by the MCU fandom that has drunk this up like the last drop of water in a desert while vehemently letting all the other heroes be on their own.
Peter dismissing the Peter tingle name for restoring Peter's actual spider-sense is my dig at FFH for calling it Peter tingle is not just dumb but like changing something that doesn't need to be changed.
Until next time.
