As I stepped out of the hospital I ran straight into someone.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled as he caught me but as I was going to walk around him he stopped me.
"Are you okay?" He asks and I look up, meeting a pair of gorgeous familiar eyes, but I can't truly place them. I feel oddly safe.
"Yes, thanks, you?" I ask and he nods a little, but looks expectant at me. He looks so familiar, his hair is bronze, his skin pale and his eyes amber. Ah, he looks like Edward, like an older Edward. His aviator glasses and unruffled hair as well as a neat suit tells me he's not Edward though. I give him a small smile anyway. "Sorry for running into you, but I got to run." I excuse myself quickly and turn away, walking towards my Mercedes. I haven't thought about Edward for a long time… wonder what he would look like if he could age…
"Ma'am." A man knocks gently on my passenger window and when I look over I tilt my head to the side. He looks like Jasper, but older…. am I crazy? I roll down the window and look questioning at him. "Do you remember me?" He asks and I hesitate.
"I don't think so…" I question and then he gives me a breathtaking slightly crooked smile… just like Jasper had done a few times. He reaches his hand up and ruffles the tamed hair until it hangs freely and fluffy, then his incredibly straight, manly posture relaxes and becomes younger. I stare in awe until I finally dare to believe my eyes.
"Jasper?" I whisper and he grins.
"Yes, long time no se." He says and I stare stunned at him, then I shake my head.
"So that was…?" I ask and he nods. I groan and hit my forehead against the steering wheel. "Well, I still have to go. I'm late to a meeting… Are you two coming or not?" I ask and hit the unlock button for the doors. Jasper gets in the backseat and suddenly Edward is seated beside me. I just shake my head a little and begin to drive towards the next town.
"Where are we going?" Edward's velvety voice asks and I sigh.
"Back to Forks hospital… I have a consultation about a kid."
"Will you talk with us tonight?" He asks and I hesitate.
"Everyone's here?" I ask and they nod. I stay quiet as I drive out of town, then I sigh deeply. "Um, I can't." I mumble.
"Why not? I promise we just want to talk, please Bella." He pleaded and I gulp.
"I have to get home to my kids." I whisper barely audible and he freezes in shock. Jasper looks surprised at me, but smiles kindly.
"You could always bring them with you?" Jasper suggests and I hesitate.
"I'll think about it… I could actually use some help." I add the last mostly for my own, but when they both look questioning and worriedly at me I curse under my breath. "Damn vampires." They chuckle but look worriedly at me again.
"What do you need help with?" Edward asks, concerned and I sigh.
"What does Carlisle know about cancer?" I ask and they both frown.
"You need help with work?" Jasper asks and I hesitate.
"Well, you could say that." I grumble and push the car a little faster. I need to get out of this conversation quickly.
"He knows a lot, why?" Edward says and I sigh.
"I need help with a patient. I don't know what to do with her anymore." I mumble and they nod a little.
"So will you come over?" He asks hopefully. I nod resigned as I park in front of the hospital and gather my stuff.
"I will but I have to run…. I assume you'll find me after somehow?" I ask and they nod so I run into the meeting.
