Hey fans so I'm making a new Ed Edd and Eddy fanfic and I want to thank my biggest fan for inspiring it so without further ado here's Growing Up.
One day in Sunnydale California a boy looked mournfully out the window as his mom hummed a tune under her breath and his little sister giggled the sun's rays blazing off her corn yellow hair.
Mom(Looking in the back) Soooooooooo who's excited for their first day as a High School Freshman?
Sister( ) Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am I am I ammmmmmmmmmmm.
The boy sighed as the car a 1980's white Ford Escort squealed into the parking lot black smoke billowing from the exhaust and all the kids near the car coughed.
Mom: OK I repeat who's excited for their first day as a High School Freshman?
The boy's sister waved her hand in the air as the boy the only Freshman in the car was unenthusiastic and the sister scooched closer to him and lifted his arm up and made him wave it.
Mom( ) There now don't we feel better?
Boy: No I can't get used to any school because we move around more than Jonny Cash and he's been everywhere man.
Mom: John do you know why we've been everywhere man?
John(Bored) No but I have a feeling it's all my fault everything is.
Mom(Looking down at John) 12 schools you've been kicked out of 12 schools for fighting. Is this ringing any bells?
John( ) It's not my fault I'm different. I mean why would God make me special needs.
Mom(Hugging John tight) John God made you special needs because you're special just like Amara is special.
John( ) AMARA DOESN'T HAVE TO HANDLE THE STARES SHE'S TOO YOUNG FOR SCHOOL! JUST WAIT TILL SHE GETS TO PRESCHOOL AND KIDS ARE TALKING ABOUT HER!
Amara John's little sister bawled as the mom gave him an accusing look and John spread his arms across the car indicating all the kids.
John: Do you want to explain to any of them how special God made me. I'll give it two seconds before I'm beaten up for my lunch money High School is dog eat dog and if I don't fight back I'm puppy chow.
Mom(Opening John's door) Just try to not make waves, make some friends, maybe bring a nice girl home and have a nice day.
John huffed angrily and slammed the car door walking across the quad to find the bully he warned his mom about a girl with fair skin, a pink top, torn at the kneecap jeans, ginger hair, and pink eyes growl with her hand out.
Girl( ) Ok Geek Bait you know what I want so put that money in my hand right now.
A boy eeped and handed Sara Ed's sister lunch money and she cackled marching over to the next person and John even though he was a fighter gulped at this girl's hulking figure.
John(Hiding behind a tree) Please don't find me, please don't find me, please don't find me, please don't find me.
Sarah(Looking at the money) I'm Jimmy like mega trillionaire so let's ditch 1st period.
Jimmy Sarah's lackey lost the headgear he had as a child for braces and just said yes Sara and followed her into the building as three girls approached the front doors before Sara.
Marie Kanker: Soooooooooooooooo May do you have a date to the dance tonight?
May: Yeaaaaaaaaaa I'm taking Ed he's so cute.
Marie: And I'm taking Eddy even though he screams no I think a small part of him wants me to ask him a million more times.
Lee Kanker the third sister trudged inside knowing Edd had a thing for Deidra Long a girl everyone met in junior high as John seeing the coast was clear ran inside not seeing Sara and Jimmy march in front of the Kankers and he knocked Sara over.
Sara( ) WHO DID THAT? COME ON SHOW YOURSELF YOU KNOCKED ALL MY LUNCH MONEY ON THE FLOOR AND I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION!
Everyone backed up and pointed at John as Lee sighed lovingly at the new boy and the two sisters knew they were A going to have to protect John and B have a heart to heart with him on how to treat their sister.
John( ) Uhhhhhhhhh oops sorry I didn't see you there and look no harm done.
Sara(Marching up to John) I lost count on my lunch money so now I have to start again. Do you know how much money I have.
John(Shrugging) Uhhhhhhhh by the looks a hell of a lot. By the way my mom says lies make god cry.
Sara(Pinning John to a locker) Lies? How dare you accuse me of lying.
John: I calls em like I sees em and you said that was your lunch money and it's not. That money belongs to the kids you stole it from.
All the kids gasped after John said this as Sara got madder and punched John in the gut him wheezing in pain.
Sara: I didn't steal it they handed it to me there's a difference stealing would be me going through their wallets and purses and taking it. It being given to me is kids handing me their lunch money.
John(Moaning) Yea because you acted like the abominable bully roaring Ok Geek Bait put that money in my hand right now.
Sara(Kneeling down to John's level) I'm going to give you a break because you're new. The names Sara and if you see me coming you better run.
John: Dually noted and you're lucky you caught me on a bad day I've been kicked out of 12 count em 12 schools for fighting you're a pussycat compared to me.
Sara balled her hand into a fist as all the kids winced Sara's fist about to hit John as six hands blocked them and Sara growled seeing Ed, Edd, Eddy, Marie, May, and Lee in front of John with the principal walking up to the ruckus.
Principal(Moving through the crowd) Ok nothing to see here everyone off to first period and you nine follow me meaning Ed, Edd, Eddy, Sara, Jimmy, and newbie John.
John groaned great first day and followed the principal to the office not knowing yet but the principal would play a big part in his life.
Principal: Everyone take seats and we can talk all about why we're filming Rocky IX in my hallway. So Sara you start then we can get the truth from someone else here.
Sara(Staring at John) This kid comes running into school not paying attention while I'm counting my lunch money and he careens into me knocking me down without so much as an I'm sorry.
Lee: Mr. Anderson I hate to interrupt but that's not true John said sorry as all the kids pointed at him when Sara asked who knocked her down.
Sara: OK maybe he apologized if his sarcastic Uhhhhhhhhhh oops sorry I didn't see you there and look no harm done qualifies.
Principal: So him knocking you down gets him pinned against a locker with you about to beat him down does it?
Sara: No his mouth got him there if he had just shut up and walked off I would have left well enough alone.
John heard enough as he cleared his throat and everyone stared including Lee who couldn't wait to know more about this boy who claimed her heart.
John: My mouth didn't get me into this mess me catching Sara was it? Well she was in the quad with her hands out and scared kids gave her money which she claims isn't stealing because it was handed to her but she never would have got it if she didn't threaten kids for it.
Sara(Pointing at John and ) See he admitted it he called me a thief when the kids handed me money. So book him a trip to detention and let's go about our day.
Mr. Anderson: I'll do no such thing I knew most of the kids here were starving at lunch and now I know why.
Sara: Mr. Anderson if it comes between me starving and other kids starving I'm going to look after myself first.
Mr. Anderson: Which is why you will be returning the money you quote unqoute didn't steal and then you can join Mrs. Feeley in detention for the rest of the year.
Sara(Pointing at John) And I suppose if I told you he threatened me by saying he was kicked out of 12 schools for fighting that would mean Jack.
Mr. Anderson: You'd suppose right now young lady open your purse and let's see how much money is being returned to the other kids of Sunnydale High.
Sara reluctantly opened her purse and bills flew everywhere as Mr. Anderson picked it all up and grabbed a microphone to the PA system.
Mr. Anderson: Attention all students if you gave Sara the new door girl of Sunnydale High lunch money please report to my office for a full refund and an apology.
Sara: Wait so I have to return the money and apologize fuck that I'm out of here.
John blocked the door to leave the Kankers, the Eds, and even Mr. Anderson was surprised to see him do this.
John: Not so tough with the principal around are you? Those kids are getting their apologies even if it takes all day.
Sara: And what's stopping me from beating your head in and high tailing it to my house with the money?
Flashing red and blue lights flooded the windows and a girl in brown hair, green eyes, school books, a laptop, combat boots, and a lab coat knocked on the door as John opened it and the girl walked up to Mr. Anderson's desk.
Girl: Mr. Anderson two things one I want my one hundred dollars that I paid Sara not to bully me anymore because she still does and two the police hath arrived.
Sara: Shut it Long you're not Shakespeare no matter how much you want to be.
Girl: I hath the slightest idea what you're speaking of Sticky Fingers. I hath come for thy small fortune.
Sara growled and handed Deidra Long her money as Deidra and tapped her feet in front of Sara and Sara stared back at her.
Deidra: Well fair maiden I'm waiting for thy apology for your sins against me then I shall be on thy way.
Sara( ) Well you're going to be waiting a long time because I don't apologize to backwards talkers.
John: Oh and you asked what was stopping you from leaving well the cops may be able to do that. I mean them and me in front of your only exit makes it hard for you to leave.
Sara: Alright fine you drive a hard bargain but I'll cut you in ok 5% and Jimmy and I can keep the rest.
Jimmy(Bolting off) I don't think so see you at lunch Sara.
John: Eight becomes seven so apologize to the kind girl in the lab coat, return her money, and we can do this until all the kids get their money back.
Deidra( ) Wellllllllllllll I'm waiting.
Sara(Handing Deidra money) Sorry Deidra next time don't leave bills showing in that lab coat of yours.
Deidra: Acceptable at best I was hoping for tears and just because my pockets are lined with money doesn't mean you can snatch it.
Sara(Shrugging) We have a difference of opinion Long now beat it before I beat you.
Deidra: OK Ok sheesh don't pop a blood vessel. Relax it may help your blood pressure Sare. Now if you'll excuse me I have hall monitor duties and that includes showing the cops the way to Principal Anderson's office.
Edd( ) Heyyyyyyyyyy Dee so uhh umm uhh w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-would you like to sit at lunch with me today?
Deidra( ) Sure got any jawbreakers their my favorite.
Edd(Looking through his backpack) Sure here you go I'll save you a seat at lunch.
Principal Anderson: OK everyone not Sara or John get to 1st period. John I was wondering if we could talk a bit about you.
John(Shrugging) OK I guess I mean this is long overdue I know this meeting all too well I was in 12 schools you know.
Lee and ruffled John's hair as her sisters led her out as she stumbled so much in love with John.
Principal Anderson: OK young lady you know the drill kids line up you pay them what you owe them just like last year.
John( ) Wait she did this last year?
Principal Anderson(Nodding) Yes since first grade she's been taking kids money which is why I'm glad you're here.
Jonny walked up with plank as Sara mumbled oh great it's the basket case with Jonny smiling at her.
Jonny: Plank and I want our money Sara and it was quite a bit.
Sara: Jonny Plank is a 4X4 he doesn't have money. As for you what's the amount I owe you?
Jonny(Thinking) Carry the 1 add the 9 and the amount is $500.00 and a million pieces of mulch for plank.
Sara(Handing Jonny $500.00) There now seek help and with that you can get the best money can buy.
Jonny( ) What about Plank's mulch he needs cash too you know?
Sara(Making a fist) You and plank have five seconds before I give you a broken nose and use plank in wood shop to put in the wood chipper.
Jonny(Stalking off) Fine but this will not please Plank's parents. Her and I have a date to the dance tonight meaning with each other.
Sara( ) Uhh wait Planks a girl I thought Plank was a boy.
Jonny(Walking off) What do you care you owe him a million pieces of mulch.
Sara(Pointing at the line) I have customers now beat it and hopefully you have a dress that can fit plank.
Jonny shrugged and walked off as back in the principal's office John was in a chair across from Mr. Anderson and they were in an epic stare down.
Principal Anderson(Opening a folder) So it says you were kicked out of your last school for defacing school property.
John( ) Oh please the principals Lamborghini is far from school property.
Principal Anderson: What makes you do the things you do John?
John(Shrugging) I guess I do it to make a name for myself before the kids can start picking me apart. Which they do as soon as they hear I'm the R word or special needs.
Principal Anderson grabbed a lighter and lighter fluid and John gulped not knowing what it might be used for.
Principal Anderson(Walking up to the folder) I'll make you a deal John because you seem like a nice kid. If you fly straight, make some friends, and stay out of trouble I'll burn your past and it will be no more.
John: What's the catch?
Principal Anderson: You listening to what I have to tell you very carefully and keeping an open mind.
John sat still as Principal Anderson sat across from him a diary in front of him and he pushed it to John.
Principal Anderson: Read on it'll explain what I'm telling you a little better.
John opened the book and he saw pictures of him as a baby in the diary and Principal Anderson wrote captions for each picture and one word popped out at John above all of them FATHER.
Principal Anderson(Nodding) It was fifteen years ago I met her on the football field she was a cheerleader and I was a running back.
John( ) So wait you're really my father?
Principal Anderson: That's what the birth certificate says.
A knock was on the door as Principal Anderson opened it to find John's mom with Amara walking in and she saw that John found out a secret she hid from him for fifteen years.
John's mom: John I was hoping we could talk about this later today.
John( ) WAIT SO THIS IS TRUE YOU KEPT MY FATHER FROM ME FOR FIFTEEN YEARS TELLING ME HE DIED IN A PLANE CRASH?
Principal Anderson: At least we see where he gets his imagination from.
John's mom: John this is a complicated situation sweetie there are so many things to consider.
John: LIKE WHAT MORE LYING? I MEAN WHAT ELSE AREN'T YOU TELLING ME IS AMARA EVEN MY SISTER?
John's mom: John sweetie calm down you know what screaming does to Amara. Think about her before you do things I've been telling you that since day one.
John(Looking at Amara) WANNA KNOW A SECRET AMARA? YOU WERE ADOPTED BEFORE YOU MOMMY WAS A SOLDIER AND SHE TRAVELED EVERYWHERE
John's mom: John this is neither the time or the place for this I mean look she's crying you've done your job as the hateful brother.
John: NO YOU WANT TO KEEP SECRETS FROM ME SO ALL OF YOUR SECRETS ARE COMING OUT NOW! AMARA MOMMY FOUND YOU IN A HOUSE WHERE ROCKETS AND BOMBS WERE GOING OFF!
John's mom: John I mean it quiet down she's sensitive to loud sounds and she's too young to know what happened to her parents.
John: SO AMARA MOMMY FINDS YOU AND FOUR PEOPLE DEAD IN FRONT OF YOU! YOUR MOM, YOUR DAD, AND YOUR TWIN SISTERS DEAD THANKS TO WAR!
Amara(Sniffling) So wait my families not coming back for me?
John's mom(Hugging Amara) Of course they are princess John's just playing a joke sweetie.
John(Spreading pictures in front of Amara) Dead, dead, dead, and dead but look at it this way at least you survived.
Amara screeched and bawled as John's mother shot daggers at him with her eyes as John grinned seeing another person hurt as much as him.
John's mother(Breathing and counting to 10) You have no idea the trouble you're in John. She's too young to understand what happened to her family.
John: Look at it this way now you don't have to tell her. As for her being my sister I never asked you to pull her from a warzone and adopt her so she's not my sister.
John's mother(Picking Amara up) Trent good luck with him 13 is a very unlucky number and if he's kicked out of here I'll home school him. And young man we'll talk about what you said when you get home.
John's mom kicked the door closed a sobbing Amara being heard down the hall as Trent Anderson looked down at his son.
John( ) Before you say it I know I screwed up I'm a screw up so if you want to kick me out you might as well.
Trent(Burning John's folder) Clean slate and I know why you do what you do. See your mom kept a secret from you and you got angry so you allowed yourself to tell a secret of hers.
John(Mumbling) So then why do I hate Amara?
Trent: My guess is she's getting all the attention and you're craving it.
John: So you're not going to kick me out?
Trent: One more condition there's a dance tonight and everyone's going to be there so to stay you have to be on the dance committee with the others that were in this office with you and you have to have a date.
John(Gulping) I never asked a girl out before.
Trent: The redhead that was with her sisters seems to really like you. She's the toughest of the trio and I bet she could protect you from Sara if you go out with her tonight.
John(Shaking Trent's hand) Deal dadio now let me get to the gym because I heard that's where dance committee likes to meet.
John ran off as Trent opened a new folder with his sons picture on it and smiled knowing his son was on the greatest adventure of his life Freshmen year.
Ed Edd and Eddy were at lunch discussing the dance and Double D was trying to get out of it but his two friends knew his weakness.
Ed: Look Double D here comes Deidra maybe she can get you to go dancing tonight.
Edd(Nervous) I'm not sure I have a ton of homework and Sara is still using me as a homework slave.
Eddy(Slapping Edd's shoulders) Come on I bet Dee's going and you two can talk homework all night.
Deidra hummed Tangled Up In Me by Skye Sweetnam as she stood by a Coke machine and Double D was lost in a vision of love.
Deidra: You wanna know more, more, more about me
I'm the girl who's kicking the Coke machine
I'm the one who's honking at you
Cause I left late again
Edd(Sighing) She sings like an angel from heaven.
Deidra: Hey

Ed: Welp looks like he's in fantasy island now Eddy Da plane da plane he he.
Marie, Lee, and May walked up to the Ed's table and they moved over Eddy moving Edd because of his trance.
Marie: OK Lee you need a date and quick so the boy you love staring at go talk to him and flirt I mean all girls can flirt.
Lee() He is really cute and it looks like he could use a bodyguard.
Deidra walked up to the table sitting across from double D and he as she took her lunch tray poking at what could only be a week old hot dog as Ed stared loving the cafeteria food because it was the only time he got to eat.
May(Standing up) Come on Marie let's go have a chat with Mr. I've been kicked out of 12 schools. If he's going to be dating our sister we need to make sure he knows the rules.
John gagged looking at his food and brought out a jar of hot sauce he keeps for emergencies out of his pants side pocket.
John: Time to spice up this lunch. I mean with all the schools I went to lunch is always the same dog eat dog and the weak ones are puppy chow.
Marie: Hey fuckface we're not puppy chow.
John(Taking a bite from his hotdog) Yes you are this Sara that you may call friend is the Doberman and we're all choice cut steak making her salivate.
May: That's beside the point see that redhead over there giving you flirty eyes? She's our older sister Lee and we need to chat.
John(Chugging a Coke) OK but make this quick I have better things to do like dance committee and making my nervous nerves ask the redhead to the dance tonight.
Marie( ) I AM SO NOT PUPPY CHOW MAYBE YOU ARE!
John(Standing up and belching) Nice talk ladies but I'm sure the redhead will have no problem with me asking her out.
May(Rolling out a list) The rules for dating a Kanker and if you mess up we'll mess you up get it?
John( ) I was kicked out of 12 schools for fighting girls like you on a daily basis what makes you think you scare me?
May: Just ask the knuckleheads over there we have tortured them since we moved to a trailer park overlooking the Cul De Sac and they are still scared of us.
John(Walking off) Oh brother you guys are so puppy chow Sara could give you a run for your moola. Now I have a date with streamers, glow in the dark stars, snack duty, and a redhead you're trying to keep me away from.
Marie and May chased John to Lee and Lee blushed as she looked up seeing him mustard dribbling down her chin.
John( ) Hi Lee right? I'm John and my dad the principal said that you could be my bodyguard.
May and Marie looked shocked as John said this and they shook their heads no as Lee scratched her chin in thought.
Lee: Hmmmmmmmmm I don't come cheap so 10 no $20.00 an hour and you have to take me to the dance tonight and at least pretend to enjoy it.
John: Deal and who knows I just may enjoy it I mean I've never been on a date before.
Lee: A cute guy like you that I don't believe.
John: I went to a wedding and my cousin was my date there does that count?
Lee(Ruffling John's hair) Nah but I'll be sure to wow you tonight Honey.
Sara stomped into the cafeteria and everybody except John and Lee scattered even May and Marie sounding tough but weren't.
Sara( ) I'm out of money so who's buying me lunch?
John marched up to Sara Lee in front of him wearing spiked bracelets and a stout to match Sara's and Jimmy gulped and ran off the two girls in an epic stare down.
Lee: Sara, Sara, Sara, Sara look who hired me as his bodyguard.
Sara: Kid you're smarter than I thought since you have a Kanker protecting you now I get two fees so pay up Kanker and non Kanker.
Marie and May knew they may have to protect Lee and John so they stepped in front of John and so did Ed, Edd, Eddy, and Deidra.
John: You can't take all of us Sara and to the black haired Kanker I've got to say you are so not Puppy Chow.
Marie(Grinning) I told you so now let's end Sara's reign as bully around these halls.
Sara ran off as all the kids cheered for the Kankers and John walked to the auditorium where dance committee met Lee right in front of him doing a good job guarding his body.
Deidra: So Double D I was wondering if instead of watching mold rot you wanted to join me at the dance tonight.
Eddy could just nod as Edd smiled making Eddy's lips move and Ed giggled.
Edd: Sure Dee I would love to and I'll even take my lab coat off for the night.
Deidra(Pecking Eddy's cheek) Great I'll get dressed up real nice for you.
Edd laughed as Deidra climbed a stepladder hanging stars John making punch and Lee wondering since she was handy with a sewing machine what she would make for her and her sisters to wear that night.
Everyone arrived at 6:00 for the dance Sara taking Jimmy, John walking hand in hand nervously with Lee who decided on a red spaghetti strapped dress, Marie in a basic black velvet dress and May in a powder blue dress all three Kankers having matching heels and purses.
Lee(Looking down at John) I just want to say thanks for taking me I mean I never met a boy like you before.
John: Likewise Lee I mean you're the first girl who can handle herself in a fight with me.
Lee( ) Yea I am the dominant sister I have to be or my two sisters would die or be puppy chow.
John and Lee walked into the auditorium and lights were shut off showing glow in the dark stars and the theme on a banner said a night under the stars.
John(Spying the punch bowl) I'll just get us some punch Lee. Don't go far and I'll be right back.
John walked to the punch bowl Amara, Cindy John's mom, and Principal Anderson chaperoning and John gulped oh no seeing his mom's gaze.
John(Pouring punch into two cups) I'll just pretend nobody but Lee and I are here.
John walked back to Lee who giggled and sipped punch Angels by Robbie Williams playing and she grabbed John's arm leading him to the dance floor and dancing with him this being her favorite song.
Lee(Looking at a sweating John) First time huh? Just follow the beat 1-2-3-4 1-2-3-4 and you'll be right as rain. Also don't stare at your feet too much they'll cooperate without your eyes.
Lee moved John's hands to her shoulders and lied her head on his shoulder letting the song soothe her as the other girls and boys did the same nobody knowing how much this dance would shape each other's lives.
