*First impressions

Barbara hadn't been able to understand how she had gotten Diana's attention. Obviously, at the first moment, she knew it was because of the Wishing Stone, it is clear that an artifact with a magical premise would bring so much attention.
And she was already used to it, first people would come to her, with some suggestion of sympathy, and as soon as they had the necessary information they would leave.

But right now, with Diana coming into her office with a stack of folders and documents and claiming the side table as hers, she wanted to know, what the hell did that woman want. - "Diana"? She looked over her glasses. - "hmm?" It was a buzz she received as an answer, because the woman was absorbed in reading some report.
For a few moments she thought about not asking and leaving things as they were. After all, it is not every day that the most popular figure in the enclosure approaches her. She bites the pencil eraser and looks at the brunette in front of her for a few more moments, until Diana looks at her and smiles. -"What's it?". Damn it. -"Why are you here?" she asks slowly, while adjusting her glasses on her face. -"Working?" Diana responds with a funny sparkle in her eyes. - "Yes, but ... Why in my office? I bet you have a much better table in your own room, "she says, as an excuse. Diana blinks a few times before answering and she even thinks that the woman may be blushing a little at the question.
- "Because your room is closer to the coffee ...?" Diana answers with another question and looks away before fixing a stray hair behind her ear. Barbara continues to stare at her, as if that would make her answer for real.

- "Ok, will you believe me if I say that I find the company of women more comfortable?" She throws and Barbara thinks she seems a little concerned about the answer she gave. But there is no reason for that. She herself always preferred the company of other women, in many ways. Not that Diana wants to say anything to that effect, but she is able to understand the other woman. -"Oh okay!".
And so they go back to their duties. Barbara steals a few glances from the woman from time to time. And she thinks it's her imagination playing tricks when she thinks she catches Diana looking at her too.

She soon discovers that in addition to being stunning, Diana really did the job she was tasked with. She has been to many places and it was not uncommon for women with such charisma and popularity to have other people do the work for them, being herself one of those poor passionate souls to do that.
It was simple to work in the company of the brunette, but she soon had to get used to the opening of her office door more times than she could count. Most people came looking for Diana, but at each visit she asked people to call on the phone and leave personal visits for major emergencies. For the next few days, Barbara gave up taking calls and decided to leave the phone on Diana's desk.

-"What is it?" the brunette asked when she saw it on the table. - "You have more fans than the museum itself" Barbara pointed out, not exactly upset. Diana laughed and put the phone back on Barbara's desk. - "I'm sorry about that" and then she took the phone off the hook and left it on the table. Barbara looked at her in astonishment. Diana then made a sign of silence, with a finger over her lips and smiled as she went to her makeshift table.

- "What if someone wants to talk to us?" Barbara asked, thinking of putting the phone back on the hook again. - "If it's really important, they'll come" Diana shrugged and took one of the papers from her stack today. Barbara decided that she could try that version, at least for today.

Later Diana called her to lunch, punctually at 12 o'clock, as usual. She was starting to feel a little spoiled by the woman's company, she and Diana always got the best conversations about historical events. She did not have to hide her fascination with her areas of expertise and Diana often asked or even gave information about the places discussed. It was a delightfully fluid conversation and as if it was not enough just the free time, sometimes they spent part of the day in these same discussions.

On one of these days, caused by a new Mayan piece recently acquired by the museum, they were in a heated discussion about the sports and adornments of that period in time. Barbara didn't realize it was half a block from her house until she was too late.
- "The heavens, Diana, you lost your way" she said worriedly and stopped in the same place. - "I didn't lose, I would like to finish our subject" the brunette replied calmly as she walked slowly forward. - "Well, anyway, I don't think we could have finished this in time, my house is right there in front" she laughed and started to fumble for her purse to find her house key. .
- "In that case, what do you think about continuing our conversation in a pub nearby?" Diana suggested, pointing over her shoulder. Barbara froze in place for a moment. It can't be that bad, can it? She thought for a few seconds and before she could answer, Diana wrapped her arm around hers and pulled in the direction of the bar. Without power and, honestly, without wanting to deny it, she let herself be led there.

The rest of the afternoon and part of the night passed too quickly for the taste of the two women. Barbara and Diana came out the door of the bar reasonably drunk, laughing at stupid things they shared about their previous work. Barbara soon learned that, strange as it was, that goddess in the form of a woman was almost as lonely as she was. She finally arrived at the door of her house and managed to put the key in the lock before saying with all the courage that the alcohol was lending her- "Come lonely goddess! I will not let you go home alone at this hour "she said as she opened the door and Diana passed her with an almost wicked smile -" Goddess? " she asked while they were both standing in the short space of the door frame. Barbara laugh, caught in the act. She then pointed to Diana's entire body - "But of course! In addition to these murderers heels, you have all this designer and elegance. " Both women laughed and Barbara was almost getting nervous about the proximity, when Diana finally moved and entered the house down the hall. - "Okay" she replied and was soon amazed as soon as Barbara turned on the lights. The space in front of her was both cozy and resolute. The colors with variations of brown, gray and green gave an elegant and comfortable touch to the place. No extravagance, however, for sure with all that today's technology could offer.

- "Diana" Barbara called while taking off her shoes at the entrance. - "Yes". She turned and took the woman with her cheeks flushed. - "I invited you to stay, but sleeping on my couch and something impractical, trust me" she massaged her back slightly to emphasize the phrase and caused a little laugh in the brunette. - "And my guest room is currently my office, so ..." she took a deep breath- "If you mind sharing a bed, I'll call you a taxi" Barbara knew she was wide-eyed with pure shame, but I knew I would have to say that at some point. - "As long as you can offer me a hot bath, I'll do it" Diana replied without missing a beat and suddenly she released her breath with relief. She smiled awkwardly and told Diana to go down the hall further. Soon she had handed over the brunette a fluffy towel and a surprisingly neutral pajamas. - "I imagined you were the type who wears cartoon pajamas" Diana said and took her completely off guard. - "Guilty" she said raising his hands in the air - "I really have a lot of them, but they are for other occasions" she laughed hiding her face in her hair down and pointed to the bathroom door. -"Feel free".

She changed clothes and tucked under the covers, pretending to be asleep when Diana called after getting out of the shower. She felt the bed sink next to her and prayed that sleep would take her before she fell into the nonsense of doing something she shouldn't have. The next morning, she was surprised to find a coffee and a note on the kitchen counter. Smiling at having survived that night without being embarrassed, she got ready and left for work.

* Day-to-day

Diana was already in her room, or should I say them? And soon they settled into a simple routine that fell on them easily. The lunches soon turned into afternoon coffees or wines at the end of the night. Barbara discovered that Diana was passionate about watching Olympic games and was a great chess player, one night she finally felt free to show off her collection of stones and meteorites, as well as some ancient artifacts that she had already managed to finish off on her own. It was not something that she showed to everyone since almost nobody likes stones and had never found someone who was enchanted enough by the work she did.

The days were getting colder with the arrival of winter, on a Saturday afternoon, she realized herself perched on the couch with hot chocolate, a blanket, and a Diana practically lying on her while watching a movie.

Her thoughts were running wild at that moment, the more she tried not to think about the brunette, the more Diana infiltrated her life. Does she have the slightest notion of how much I am in love with her? She couldn't stop thinking about it while feeling the woman's breathing body against her own chest.

- "I think you lied about the couch" Diana sighed and settled a little more on the blonde. Barbara laughed and couldn't help but blush with petulance - "First, you're lying on top of me, Miss Prince. And second, I changed the sofa, "she said victoriously. Diana turned in her embrace to face the woman - "And did you keep forcing me to sleep in your bed?" she accused, with amused eyes. Barbara almost choked and blushed even more deeply. - "It's not like you can sleep without being clinging to me, so ..." the blonde shrugged and Diana gave her a megawatt smile. - "Dork" she said and turned to watch the movie again.

Moments like this were more and more common and as much as she wanted to, she couldn't help but fantasize about Diana. When it would be the day that Diana was going to kiss her in the morning? Or walk in the door, full dinner bags in her hands and throw it on the table before holding her against the wall in a lewd and breathless kiss? She wondered how long will she lack the courage to kiss Diana herself before going to sleep and know where it can stop? Once again, she chose to bury those thoughts and focus on the film, painfully aware of the wonderful woman on top of her, who almost despite her thoughts was snuggling more and more into her embrace.

*Fatal Joke

It was a Monday morning and both women were walking to their office, usually. Diana opened the door for Barbara to enter and suddenly one of the boys whistled past them. - "As she is a gentleman opening the door for her girlfriend" he played without thinking twice. Diana closed her eyes and took a deep breath while Barbara hid herself between her hair and continued towards the table itself. For a few moments she wondered if Diana would laugh or be furious. The woman's heart sped up and she looked back, just in time to catch Diana smiling at the boy and silencing him with her finger over her lips - "At least I have a girlfriend Patricky" she whispered with a malicious wink closing the door in the face of the young man, who looked very surprised. Barbara didn't know if she should have caught this interaction. She was standing, like a beautiful servant in the headlights, certainly even more flushed than before. - "How audacious these kids are in these days" Diana said and Barbara watched as the brunette took off her coat, almost in slow motion, then a smug smile on her lips turned into a frown of concern, her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes alert - " Everything is fine?" Diana asked the blonde, hands taking her arms lightly. Barbara's mind was in millions of different places at the same time, she wouldn't be able to articulate any words. All she managed to do was nod and let go of Diana's hands, almost as if she were on fire.
Diana notices it is a little strange, but apparently decided not to elaborate. Barbara went to her own table and immersed herself in reports that she was supposed to deliver that day. She hoped the day would not be tense and thanked all the gods when they knocked on the door asking her to go to another department.

Between identification of collections and organization of shipments, she did not notice the time for lunch to pass. Since she was already half an hour late, and she would not be able to face Diana at that moment, she decided to use the cafeteria of the Museum itself. She bought a quick snack in the cafeteria and was going to an empty spot in the small room. She didn't notice the guys until it was too late. -"Barbara! Come here and sit with us "Tatcher asked her. She didn't want to appear rude, so she went over there, ready to deal with a bunch of idiots, just like high school. - "Hello" she said, sitting in the chair in front of them.
An awkward silence hung between them, until Patricky, yes, the same Patricky, cleared his throat and called her attention - "So you and Diana?" He raised his eyebrow suggestively. She took a sip of the juice and looked the boy right in the eye - "Yes, why?" He looked at her smugly and soon after she saw Tatcher open the wallet to pass him 10 bucks. - "I told you man" he shrugged.
-"Wait. What?!" she asked without understanding what was going on. Patricky laughed - "We already knew that Diana was not interested in men" he started, as if that would explain something .- "Because all the guys in the museum have already been kicked" Tatcher said before biting the muffin.
Barbara was still puzzled - "So ...?" she waited for completion. - "As soon as you were not apart, we all assumed the obvious. Except for the Tatcher here, so we made a bet "he shrugged, stretching the bill between his fingers. Tatcher laughed - "Finally someone caught that woman, it was time! In fact, it makes no difference if you are another woman. We are intellectuals and not animals "he tapped the table, but Barbara could only think of one word -" Obviously? ".
- "Obviously what?" Diana asked behind her making the blonde almost jump out of her skin with the fright. Before any of the boys could say any more nonsense, she took Diana by the arm and pulled her into the nearest bathroom.
- "Barbara, what's wrong?" she asked, but got no answer. The blonde took her straight to the bathroom and pushed her into the biggest cubicle she could find .- "Barbara! What are you doing?" she looked at Diana's astonished face and took a deep breath - "why does everyone think you and I are a couple?" She finally asked.
Diana's eyes widened and she looked open-mouthed. "" Aren't we? " That was what she asked in return, almost painfully. -"What?! No Diana! Of course not!" Barbara said, thoughts running in all directions. Had she accepted something in some drunken conversation and forgot? No, that would not be possible.
- "Where I come from and with all the time we spent together, I would believe so" Diana replied, almost exasperated - "But we never kissed, we never had sex, we are not a couple!" Barbara said the obvious, because that was exactly what was going through her mind.
And it was at that moment that something changed inside the cabin. Suddenly it looked like she had too much static in the air, Barbara saw Diana's eyes darken even more, if possible. She noticed the woman approach her a little more - "So this is what is missing" Diana asked and Barbara froze in place, so she didn't expect it.
- "Would you like me to kiss you Barbara?" Diana asked and the way her name came out of the brunette's lips enchanted her like a siren song. Diana took a small step closer and the bodies were inches from touching. She dove into the dark brown eyes and soon found herself gazing at those red lips, Diana's tongue wetting them slightly.
As if that were an answer to the question, Diana kissed her right then.
It was like diving into the rough sea and not knowing if there would be breath to return to the surface, the adrenaline rushing through all the veins, the heart skipping a beat, a swarm of butterflies in the stomach. It was the softest lips she had ever experienced in her life, Diana's tongue asking for passage and she allowed herself to melt into the slow, deep, longing kiss. Diana, panting, pulled away from her for a few seconds and Barbara noticed how her hands had wrapped around the front of the woman's shirt and pulled her close. - "Wow" was all she managed to say and Diana smiled slightly - "Wait until you find out where else I like to kiss" she said before capturing the blonde's lips again. Barbara couldn't help but moan when she felt one of her legs find its way through hers. "Diana" she managed to say, breaking the kiss and the trance they suddenly entered - "As much as my wish is coming true, I don't want it to be in a bathroom" she smiled, pushing the woman a little away, missing immediately the body leaning against hers. Diana looked into those beautiful blue eyes and immediately wiped a lipstick stain off the blonde's bottom lip and smiled - "Okay" she opened the door and left the small cubicle. Barbara took a deep breath and decided to check her appearance in the mirror. She blushed completely when Diana's eyes met hers through the reflection. Now she knew that those looks were not confused or her imagination, they were really for her, and meant what she was thinking.

When she went to the exit door, she held the handle for a few moments and looked at the brunette who was coming towards her - "So? Girlfriends? ". Diana laughed at Barbara's favorite laugh, and leaned over to steal a quick kiss from the blonde. - "Yes, girlfriends" she offered her hand for her to take as they walked out the door
