"Raw strength isn't the end all and be all of being a ninja Boruto. For example, your vanishing rasengan, as powerful as it has become is useless if it can't hit its target. So for today, we will be training your accuracy."
Boruto nodded in agreement. As much as he knows that it will be a boring exercise, he understands the wisdom behind his teacher's words.
"Right Sasuke-san. So what are we going to do today?"
Sasuke smirked and summoned his giant storage scroll.
"I will be coming for you seriously. This will be a life or death situation. You can't improve if you take it easy all the time. For this exercise, you will be dealing with an actual moving target, after all. Don't dodge, hit them with your shuriken or block with a rasengan of your own. I don't care which as long as you block them. And no clones understood?" His sensei explained as the Uchiha prepared to summon his weapons.
Boruto grinned. The way that Sasuke-san explained it sounds easy enough. But nothing could have prepared him from the onslaught of Sasuke's assault.
"Ready? Here I come." And just like that small iron balls emerged from Sasuke's scroll targeting Boruto with efficiency that he barely have any time to dodge them.
"I said, don't dodge them Boruto."
"No fair! You really expect me to hit ALL of them?" Sasuke smirked, a teasing look upon his usually impassive face. Training with Boruto always reminded him of Naruto and it brings out the more playful side within him.
"You wanted to surpass Naruto, don't you?"
That seemed to have awakened the fire in Boruto's eyes. The mere mention of his father, enough to bring out the need to perform his very best. Boruto has always wanted to one up his touchan. Not because he has something against his father, far from it.
Like any son, Boruto just likes to have their father's acknowledgement and he had hoped that by developing his skills as a ninja, he would at least get his old man to look at him.
"Alright. I'll give you a break this time. How about we start slow."
Sasuke drew three shuriken from his weapon pouch. He threw one first before throwing another. Boruto was confident he would hit the weapon this time as it was coming straight at him, however the next shuriken hit the incoming one, diverting it to the side and grazing Boruto's face, creating a small cut.
He looked at his teacher with shock and surprise. Sasuke-san can be brutal sometimes. He's really coming at him seriously.
"What? You think I'll go easy on you? You can't expect to face my final challenge when all you can deal with are straightforward attacks. Let's try again."
Boruto had a more serious expression this time. It finally dawned on him that Sasuke-san is definitely not just playing this time around. He ignored the stinging sensation on his cheeks, feeling it starting to heal just a little bit.
It wouldn't be until deep into their training that Boruto is beginning to feel desperate but he was finally able to strike down the shuriken that Sasuke have been throwing at him. A satisfied smile graced his face as he breathe a sigh of relief.
Well, that was relatively easy. But Boruto reflected just how tough and spartan that training really is. Although Boruto is aware that from their trajectory, Sasuke-san is trying his best not to aim at him directly, there were a still few cuts and grazes that decorated the younger pupil's body by the time they're finished.
Sasuke looked pleased but he once again summoned another storage scroll.
"Don't celebrate yet Boruto. This will be your final test. It will be the same as the first one, but I know you've already picked up a few tricks here and there. Ready?"
Boruto steadied himself and prepared his hands to make his rasengan, having ran out of shuriken minutes ago. The confident smile that was on his face before was now gone. He knew from experience just how brutal that first part was. It would be hard to dodge those mini steel balls, especially since he deduced that Sasuke won't be manipulating their trajectory this time, as they will be released randomly from the storage scroll.
Boruto gave one uncertain nod before Sasuke unleashed his scroll upon his pupil. Boruto was naturally hit in the opening, the balls too numerous to successfully hit the incoming projectiles. Desperation took hold of him once more as he strained his eyes to observe them. But it's no use. His quick reflexes only helped him a little as they kept coming at him.
"I said no DODGING Boruto."
His teacher's voice cut through his thoughts. He knows that. But what else can he do? Maybe if he had a Byakugan like his sister Himawari that will help him out a bit. He did hear about the near 360 degree absolute defense that those priced eyes can afford.
So he decided to do the same, trying to force as much chakra as he could to his eyes. His efforts would be rewarded when suddenly, a pathway opened up in front of him, the incoming weapons seemed to have slowed down and an arrow appeared in his mind's eyes just where to hit. Ignoring the stinging feeling on is eyes, Boruto finally summoned two rasengan from his hands and struck. The rasengan bounced against the multiple steel balls and all of them landed to the ground before him.
Boruto relaxed as he looked at his Teacher's perplexed expression. But that didn't bother him one bit. Maybe he finally did activate his Byakugan this time. He was tired but overjoyed at the same time despite the pain over his body.
"Boruto… Your eyes! Impossible!" He heard his teacher exclaimed.
Boruto was about to collapse to the ground but held himself steady. Does that mean he's right? He finally activated his Byakugan just like how he always dreamed of?
He gave a weak but excited smile. "Is it the Byakugan Sasuke-san? Finally!"
But he was met with a dumbfounded Sasuke, who shook his head. "That's the Sharingan! But how?"
Boruto's eyes widened as he ran to the nearby lake. He looked at his beaten up reflection, but ignored the cuts and tears on his clothes and the marks on his face in favor of the eyes now staring back at him.
True enough. Gone were his usual electrical blue eyes. In their place is a red sclera with a black pupil at the center. Revolving around it is a singular tomoe. The unmistakable appearance of a Sharingan. Boruto is aware of this, having seen the eye of his teammate Sarada countless of times before. Just what in the world is going on here?

Naruto stretched his hands and back as he made through half of the paperwork. With Sasuke back in the village, he's somewhat taking it easy. He knows he can relax with that man around. So he have been taking his sweet time with his work. With Sasuke training his son, there's less pressure for him to come home earlier too since Boruto's the one that's always nagging him to be at home.
Plus… Naruto looked out the window with a wistful expression. It would do the two some good as they bond together. In all honesty, Naruto have been so happy when Sasuke told him how his son is now his student. Boruto's motivation to push himself harder have been steadily increasing the more he spend time with Sasuke.
Speaking of the man, Naruto smiled as he felt a familiar chakra approaching the doors to his office. He had known that chakra for years. Chasing his best friend all these times have made him attuned to the feeling that that chakra emanates, to the point that he can almost point out what the man is feeling by pure chakra alone.
He visibly relaxed and closed his eyes as he relished in the feel of that chakra. It wasn't a warm feeling that most ninja exudes by any means. In fact, Sasuke's chakra is colder and sharper, perhaps as a result of how his hate and vengeance have shaped his career as a ninja. But the familiarity of such chakra always puts Naruto at ease. It's almost always a nostalgic feeling when he's around that chakra.
Naruto frowned as he felt the chakra neared. There's something foreboding about it, as if it's distressed and conflicted. He haven't felt this chakra since the last time they battled, when Sasuke was so intent on killing him and becoming the hokage of Konoha.
Just before Naruto could ponder on his thoughts, he felt himself shoved to the wall, the papers around him scattering to the ground as his desk and chair laid overturned to the corner. His shocked blue eyes meet Sasuke's red and purple.
"Sasuke wha—"
"Shut up dobe!" Naruto gulped at the sharp and threatening edge to that tone. Ever since their fight, Sasuke have always been gentle and calm with him. So for him to have this tone with him… Did something happen he wonder?
"Is Boruto my son?"
Naruto gasped as he finally comprehends the words that escaped from his old rival's lips. That was when the reality finally dawned on him. But he decided to calm himself and played it cool. With a nervous laugh, he gripped at Sasuke's wrist, the other man still viciously holding him against the walls.
"Wh-what are you joking about bastard?" Naruto gave a nervous smile, trying to put on a brave front. WIth his voice weaker and softer than usual, however, Sasuke could see right through him. Naruto have always been an honest and earnest ninja. Even in their youth the man can't lie to save his life. "What are the odds of that eh?"
Sasuke growled as his sharingan glowed, annoyed that his old rival was still putting up a façade. Naruto understood that the man was serious now.
"Just answer the question Usoratonkatchi!" Naruto frowned as he heard his old nickname being spat out with such venom. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Naruto could only dumbly nod.
"How?" Naruto asked curious as to how his rival had known. But he need not ask further as he felt another familiar chakra approaching the room.
"Is it true, Touchan?" Naruto winced at his son's small and strained voice, devoid of its usual confidence and straightforward nature.
Naruto gulped again and peeked behind Sasuke's towering form. And true enough he saw Boruto with his sharingan, the boy's eyes was looking straight at him resolutely, searching for answers..
"You better start explaining now, Naruto." Sasuke's gaze intensified as he tightened his hold over his rival.
Naruto sighed, defeated, unable to deny the proof in front of him. He nodded in understanding before turning to Boruto and giving him a weak smile.
"Boruto. Sasuke and I will talk for a bit. Can you… can you step out of the room for a minute?" His son nodded in understanding, aware of his father's strained and defeated voice. He haven't heard his father sound like this before and the deadly aura seeping from Sasuke signaled to him that he probably shouldn't interfere, no matter how conflicted he's feeling at the moment.
Boruto, for once, obeyed his father without question and closed the doors behind him. He would hear muffled voices but that was because Naruto had set up a silencing jutsu when Sasuke realized he's willing to talk and released him soon after.
"How did it happen Naruto? Why hide something like this, least of all from ME?" Sasuke asked as Naruto sank to the floor, his knees giving way at the man's intense gaze, the room flooding with the unmistakable scent of an alpha's domineering pheromones.
Naruto looked up to Sasuke in resignation as he wrapped his arms around his knees.
"I'm sorry Sasuke." Was his weak reply.
"Sorry?" Sasuke looked down on him menacingly. "Is that all you have to say? Did you honestly think you can hide something like this? When did we—"
"It was the night before my wedding." Naruto finally answered. "You came to me Sasuke. You confessed to me just how much you loved me. You were drunk. I—I tried my best to resist. But I couldn't okay? I didn't think much of it because I loved you too, you bastard. But I can't back out of my promise to Hinata either. I realized that you won't remember any of it afterwards so I wanted to put it behind me."
Sasuke's eyes widened. It hit him now and his mind finally remembered that fateful night. He have been out drinking, depressed that Naruto has finally slipped through his fingers. He have been planning to confess to his old rival for quite some time but never really got the chance.
Between his punishment and Naruto being busy training for his role as Hokage, the two were not able to be in contact with each other. So when the wedding between the future Hokage and the Hyuuga heiress spread throughout, Sasuke felt his world came crashing down. He recklessly drunk himself to death on the night before the wedding before the alcohol finally gave him the courage to confess. And so he paid the omega a visit. He remembered pouring all he had into the omega that night.
Naruto didn't stand a chance against the alpha's pheromones. The events of that night have become a blur as omega and alpha submitted to their desires but Sasuke knew that Naruto have been right about one thing.
He didn't remember anything about it… Until now that is.
A rational part of him can understand how Naruto couldn't back out. Naruto has always been a man about fulfilling his promise. And once he promised Hinata that he'll marry her, he'd see through to it no matter what.
Sasuke have been regretting not telling Naruto earlier. He had plenty of time. But he didn't, thinking that Naruto will always chase after him. Sasuke didn't realize that the only man he have ever loved will slip through his fingers one day. Sasuke assumed that his omega will always wait for him. But it was Naruto's fault for deciding to marry Hinata, an omega no less. If Sasuke isn't so livid right now, he would have laughed at the thought, two omegas in marriage?
Sasuke decided to marry Sakura out of spite after that, wanting some degree of control and normalcy and started instead to pursue his dream of rebuilding his clan. But to Sasuke, it was mostly a platonic relationship. He would continue to pine after his rival long after their respective marriages, giving Sakura nothing more than head pokes and friendly gestures of affection.
At the thought of that, bitterness bubbled from deep within his throat. It's Naruto's fault for marrying Hinata that this happened. Naruto loved him and he still went on to marry Hinata.
Picking up Naruto once more, the alpha stared straight at the Hokage's eyes.
"Divorce Hinata!"
"What?" Naruto squeaked, he didn't know why he's suddenly out of breath, a strange fog is creeping at the back of his mind.
"I will divorce Sakura and then you will marry me!"
"Are you insane?"
Sasuke gritted his teeth as he slapped Naruto on his cheeks. "You lied to me Naruto! This is the least you can do for me! You said you loved me too right?"
"Bastard! I won't divorce Hinata just because you said so." Naruto looked at the alpha, his cheeks still stinging, but he was starting to get angry at being manhandled by the other man.
"Oh you will, Naruto! Unless you want this entire village to know that you cheated on your wife the night before your wedding! Think about what will happen to Boruto as well! I know you're smart Naruto. He'll be bullied for being a bastard child if this gets out, don't you?"
Naruto's eyes dulled. Sasuke have a point. If it slips out that he had sex with Sasuke the night before his wedding, it would hurt Hinata a lot. But he made a promise to her.
"Plus it would do Boruto a lot of good to be trained by someone who's ACTUALLY knowledgeable about the sharingan."
"And what about Sarada? And Sakura? And Hinata? What about them? What will Boruto think?" Naruto found his voice as he noticed the alpha tensed.
"I don't care! You're mine Naruto! You're the one who lied to me. It's your mess to clean up."
"My mess?" Naruto tried to stand up but the alpha's pheromones are too thick in the room, making his whole body weak, totally at the alpha's mercy. "How? You were the one who came to me that night, you asshole!"
"If you haven't married Hinata in the first place WE could have been together, Naruto. You said you loved me too. You admit it just now. You're meant to be with an alpha, not with an omega." Naruto regretted telling the alpha about his love now, but he couldn't do anything about it. His mind was beginning to get foggy once more.
Sasuke smirked as he saw Naruto beginning to falter as his pheromones continue to flood the room. He could tell that the blond omega was still trying to resist, but Sasuke made sure to release as much pheromone as he could. Naruto won't slip through his fingers this time.
He'll reclaim what he has lost. He'll gain what's rightfully his. And he'll finally get what's been robbed of him all those years ago.

A/N: I just read Disenchanted by JD01 on fanfictionNet and Promised to the Uchiha by lightingmist95 and A Fated Meet by Kaneshon (both on Archive of our own) fanfics which partly served as the inspiration to this fic. So go read them now too if this story caught your eye. They won't follow the same storyline but they will have the same vibe, but this will have a happier tone, I hope. Anyway, thanks for reading. And I hope you guys liked it. As always tell me what you like or don't like about it. This will also eventually draw some inspiration from Black Lotus novel (in the future chapters).
