It was a Thursday morning when I flew outside. There was a house owned by an old man that had a blue jewel in the living room. It had to be mine, but I could wait a day to rest up and try to get it. That morning I flew through the woods from a cabin that Shadow had built for me. Near the end of the woods, I noticed a woman with long light brown hair talking to a man with dark brown hair. She had yellow eyes and was wearing a red jacket with a blue polo shirt and black pants. The man was wearing a black jacket with a blue shirt and black pants. I couldn't hear the two's conversation, but the man appeared to be annoyed. I would have kept flying past the pair if the man hadn't have punched a tree in what appeared to be frustration. The tree tilted slightly in the opposing direction and I ducked behind another one.
"I'll see you later, End," the man said to the woman.
"Alright, Justin," the woman replied before hugging him.
She ascended to the sky and flew away. The tree Justin had hit earlier was the same he rested against, and I could see its strain. I revealed myself to him, and he came forward.
"A bat," he said with surprise. "I've never seen one before."
I waived at him, my eyes turning to the tree falling quickly. He heard it, gave a short glance to his backside and then lunged toward me. I was sent a few feet away and hurt a bit. I got up and saw that the tree had landed on him, his head being under it. I placed my hands against the tree and pushed it to the side of him, my arms feeling as though they were tearing.
"Are you okay?" I asked, touching his back.
He opened his eyes.
"Yeah," he said, rubbing his eyes. "My back hurts a bit."
"You did a brave thing pushing me out the way," I said.
"I just wish I could remember my name."
I paused, stepping back from him for a moment, musing over this opportunity.
"Oh no," I said, dropping to my knees. "Don't tell me you don't remember me, Jus."
"I know you?" He asked, me nodding my head.
"We were a team of jewel thieves. You gained superpowers just to help our heists."
"How long have we known each other?"
"Ever since we were children. You were my first friend."
I placed my hand to his shoulder and he looked at me with a curious but believing expression.
"Tell you what," I said. "I'll take you back to our home and see if it'll help your memories."
"What's your name?"
"Rouge."
I winked at him and took his hand as we ventured into the forest. I didn't know if he remembered being able to fly and I knew I couldn't lift him. The walk was about thirty minutes until we reached my cabin.
"We moved your clothes out of the cabin a week ago," I said as convincingly as I could.
"Was there a reason for that?" Justin asked.
"Well Jus, we didn't want you to be discovered as my accomplice when the police came snooping around."
He stopped in place.
"I can't believe I'm a criminal," Justin said.
"You started out as my sexy secretary," I replied with a laugh. "You would wear these lovely blouses and tight skirts. I could just pinch your cheeks."
"Wow. I really have lost my memories."
"Don't worry. I'm here to help you fill in the blanks. I'm gonna go get you some clothes from our other place. Stay here."
I had Jus to sit on my bed and remove his shoes. I exited through the front door and locked it behind me. Heading into town, I picked out two outfits for him. One was a white short-sleeve blouse with a short black skirt. The other was a pink dress with a white sweater. I got him some black pumps. I could tell he had big feet so I got the largest ones I could find. I removed anything that showed the clothes hadn't been worn before. I was back at the cabin in half an hour and asked Jus to change his clothes. He consented and wore the white blouse. I put my hand over my mouth. He seemed willing to do whatever I told him.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"This seems...off," Justin replied. "I can't believe I wear women's clothing."
I sighed and used my wings to levitate as to make my head on the same level to his.
"A year ago, you had your heart broken," I said. "And when you were crying and I was trying to console you, you said that you wanted to be like me so you could have more confidence. I picked out your clothes from then on, per your request."
"You must really care about me," Jus said.
I took his hand.
"Of course I do. You're my best friend and I'm going to help you through this," I said. "You can live with me as long as you want and we can buy you new clothes if you'd like."
He blushed and nodded his head.
"I'm fine with the clothes," Jus said.
I gave him a hug.
"Hungry?" I asked.
He nodded.
"I'll make us some soup and then we can watch a movie," I said.
We sat at a table together and ate the soup while having small-talk. Jus laid on my bed and fell asleep. I went out again, locking the door. Since it was nighttime, I knew most stores were closed and easier to sneak in and out of. I got him another ten outfits, probably four hundred dollars worth of clothes. I couldn't care less though. I also made him a unitard identical to my own. The following morning, Jus woke up to the sound of me cooking.
"Rouge," he called my name. "Do I have any family?"
"I met your mom a few times," I replied. "By the way, I've got something to give you."
I pulled him close and applied my lipstick to his lips using the case I kept in my pocket.
"Thanks," he said.
"Do you remember your powers?" I asked.
"Not really."
"Well you can fly and you have super strength."
I placed my hand around his hip.
"How about we try flying?" I asked.
"Rouge, I don't want to get hurt trying to do something I don't remember," Jus replied.
"I'll catch you. I've done it before."
I went into my room and grabbed the unitard I made for him.
"You might want to slip into the old costume," I said.
"We wear the same outfits?" He asked, me nodding my head.
He got on his knees.
"I'd feel better wearing that after I got my memories back," Justin said.
"Fine," I replied. "But don't blame me if someone looks under your skirt while you fly."
We left my house and Justin tried to fly, me holding his hand. He would ascend higher before slipping until we could see the entire forest. Then, I noticed someone that made my heart almost jump from my chest.
"Hey Justin," End said as she came on the side of us, pointing at his skirt. "That's a lovely outfit."
"Thanks, ma'am," he replied. "Do I know you?"
End had a playful expression, turning her eyes to me for my split second as though she was trying to signal something.
"You sure do. Let me talk to your bat friend first though."
Justin looked to me and I took him into the house, flying back to End.
"So Justin lost his memories," End said.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"We'll get to that later. So he lost his memories, you found him, told him some story that got him to wear girl clothes, and have him living in your cabin."
"That's the gist of it. I'm guessing you're here to stop me."
"No I wanna join you."
