Black Eagles house

Keep in mind this is a Fanfic, and it's not canon. Some people's personality might be different than in-game, but I needed to make some changes for the story (sorry about that)

Byleth slammed his hand on the table in anger. "Caspar!" He yelled.

The blue haired boy immediately sat down and stopped talking to Ferdinand. "Sorry sir." He mumbled.

"Listen up class." The teacher stated. "We have a practice battle against a group of trainee knights. Figuring how I have just joined you all just a year ago, I thought I would see how you all do with a different leader."

There was a stunned silence, but then Edelgard broke the atmosphere. "Who will lead us? We have relied on you since you joined us."

"You will." The teacher said sternly. "You will lead an Empire one day, a small army should be no different."

Edelgard but her hand on her chest and bowed. "You will not regret your choice professor."

"I hope you are right."

"I hope so as well." Edelgard sat back down. "I will lead the Black eagles to victory."

"Overconfidence is more often fatal. The only thing you should focus on is learning the skills of each of your classmates."

"I will ask around, professor."

Edelgard looked around the room, seeing her to-be soldiers' faces and analysing their emotions.

"Bernadetta, may I speak to you?" Byleth asked as he stood up.

The purple haired girl blushed and hid her head behind her hands. "Um sure p-p-p-professor."

The girl stood up and walked to the teachers desk.

"W-w-what do you n-n-need?" She asked nervously.

"I have to pull you out of this battle. I'm sorry, but I was told to."

"Thanks so much!" The student yelled in happiness as she wrapped her arms around the teacher.

"You don't get the day off."

The girl looked crestfallen and her shoulders slumped.

"What will I be doing?" She asked.

"You will be with me, watching the battle."

Jeralt stood beside Rhea, his expression as grim as ever.

"You sure we should be deceiving the Black Eagles by making them fight real bandits?"

"Yes. they will never learn if they don't get surprised."

"I just don't want my Son to die. Any parent wouldn't want that."

"I know. But in order to cease any rebellion in Fodlan, we must have strong warriors."

Byleth and Edelgard bust into the room with an urgent message.

"Father!" Byleth yelled breathlessly. "I...have….a….a message."

Jeralt ran over to his son, kneeling beside the boy.

"What's wrong?"

Byleth put up a hand to signal he needed time to recover his breath, but Edelgard replied first.

"My house and I were out training, but then we noticed something."

"What did you see?" Jeralt asked as he slowly stood up.

"Hubert heard a knight say something about 'Ending the rebellion'. Are you and Rhea planning on telling us?"

"Yes, we were planning on telling you." Rhea interjected. "Now leave."

Looking a bit suspicious, Edelgard grabbed her teachers arm and left the room.

"I think Rhea is up to something." Byleth said. "She really looked uncomfortable when we mentioned a rebellion."

"I need to tell you something." Edelgard said as she slowed to a walk. "The rebellion is my doing."

"Why?" Byleth asked. He wasn't mad, he just needed to know.

"The empire that I will rule has been planning a conquest for years now, and the only thing that we want to get rid of is Rhea and her 'cult'."

Byleth nodded. "I too have been wondering if the motives of Rhea are true. I would like to join you in your mission."

Edelgard took a step back in shock. "Are you sure?!" She exclaimed.

Byleth put a finger on her lips to keep her quiet. "Let's speak of this matter elsewhere, maybe outside?"

The to-be Empress nodded and took Byleth's hand. They walked outside and stood in the area outside the greenhouse.

"So are you sure you want to join my rebellion against Rhea?"

"Yes." The teacher stated. "Who else has joined already?"

"The whole class will most likely follow your lead, but Hubert will be on our side no matter what."

"Wake up all of your fellow house members on the first floor. I will take the second floor." Byleth said slowly.

"Yes sir!" She said as she ran off, the echo of her boots bouncing off the walls.

"Tell them to meet in the classroom!" Byleth called softly.

The white-haired girl turned back and gave the teacher one of her rare smiles.

The Black Eagles students were all gathered in their teachers room, all of their equipment ready. They all had bags slung on their shoulders, and they were all dressed in outdoor clothes.

"For one last time," Byleth asked. "Are you all sure you want to leave this place behind?"

"Yes, but I want to do one thing first." Bernadetta said, her voice filled with unusual anger.

"What's that?"

"On my first day here, I asked Rhea where the eating hall was. She told me that it was an insult to her that I interrupted her. And I want to punch her in the face!"

The students took a step back at the quiet girl's anger.

"Wow. That isn't like Bernadetta at all." Dorothea said.

"Maybe she just keeps all her anger pent-up." Caspar stated.

"Okay everybody, we are NOT going to assault Rhea. She has guards and many, many people that will come to her aid." Byleth said.

Bernadetta shrugged. "As long as she gets justice."

"Rest assured, she will." Edelgard said as she took her bag from Hubert and settled it onto her back. "Lets go."

As the group reached the gate, they saw somebody. Gatekeeper.

"Hey you!" He yelled. "What are you all doing out this late?"

"Leave it to me." Caspar said confidently. He stepped forward and raised his hand in greeting.

"Hello knight of Seiros! I just needed to ask you something!"

"Well, come over here and ask then."

As soon as Caspar reached the guard, he took out a mallet and knocked him on the head. Hard. The man fell to the ground and the others ran over.

"He should wake up in an hour or so." The cyan-haired boy stated. "Lets go before anybody else notices he is knocked out."

Edelgard took one last look at the cluster of structures she called home. Then, she promptly turned and walked away.

"Lady Edelgard," Hubert said as he pulled alongside Edelgard. "The Professor wants to talk to you in the front of the group."

"Don't wait for me. I want to talk to him as well."

Hubert nodded and took Edelgard's bag of belongings.

"Professor, I believe you wanted to speak with me." Edelgard said after she was parallel with Byleth for a minute or two.

"I do, and I hope you do not hate me after I tell you this."

"Just say it." The white-haired teen said after a minute of pause.

"Rhea has killed your last family members.." The voice was quiet, but yet it carried more meaning than anything Edelgard had ever heard before.

"When did you find out?" She asked, her grim look falling into a deep frown.

"I saw it on a paper when I looked on Rhea's desk. I'm sorry."

Out of nowhere, Edelgard hugged the teacher and started to weep. The other students just stopped walking and did other things to make it seem less awkward.

"I just don't know what to do," Edelgard cried, her sobs muffled by the teacher's shoulders. "I just can't lead a nation alone, let alone lead one into battle!"

Byleth was silent.

"I just need somebody in my life! Somebody who will help me no matter what!"

Byleth stood there and waited. "I will help you."

Edelgard looked up and wiped some tears out of the corner of her eyes. "Really?" She asked.

"Yes. And your fellow classmates will help as well."

"You don't know how much this means to me!" Edelgard yelled as she buried her head in the arms of Byleth again.

They continued the trip to the capital of the Adrestian Empire, Enbarr. The cycle of their journey was simple. They would wake up, eat, walk, set up camp, eat, sleep. They repeated that cycle for days, and they passed through various villages. On this certain day they had stopped in a village named Coraque (This village in non-canon, I made it up.)

You would think that Edelgard would've been recognized, but, like all the others, she was covered in dirt and her clothes were all ripped. They had little money left, and most of it was used to buy new clothes and buy food.

Plus, they had some wounded after a bandit attack. The three bandits had come in from behind, aiming to loot the groups meager supplies and get some possible gold.

Bernadetta was at the back (closest to the bandits) with Caspar and Dorothea.

Surprisingly, the female archer took charge. She fired a shot at one of them before Caspar came to her aid. The arrow took the bandit in the head and went straight though. Clean headshot.

Dorothea called upon her magic to disable the other bandit, and Caspar swung his axe right through the last one's neck.

In a short amount of seconds, the three of them made quick work of the bandits.

They had only received minor wounds, with Caspar getting a thin cut and Bernadetta got some scrapes from when she slid on the gravel to avoid a sword.

The group arrived in Coraque, and they immediately went to the inn.

"Let's check around the market and try to figure out what's going on." Edelgard stated.

"Who will you take with you? We shouldn't go as one big group." Byleth replied.

"I think you, Bernadetta, and I would be a good choice."

"So what will you do if they recognize you?" Byleth asked.

"I will take the place as the ruler and crush Serios. The Golden Deer and the Blue Lions won't be involved unless they attack."

"Understood."

The three arrived in the market and they were shocked. A man dressed in ripped and damaged royal guard armour was lying against a wall, his hand out, begging for coins.

"What happened?" Edelgard asked as she hurried to the fallen man.

"A revolt." The man coughed and spat out blood. "Half of the court thinks you're dead, and the other knows that you're alive."

"How did you recognize me?" Edelgard asked in disbelief.

"Your eyes are like your mothers, and the way you carry yourself is familiar. I knew you'd be alive."

"How do I reclaim the throne?" Edelgard asked quickly, noticing that the man was on the edge of his life.

"You must…..you must…..must reclaim the throne." And with that, the light in the man's eyes went out and his body went limp.

Edelgard took a deep breath and stood up. "You served your empress well. Rest in peace."

Edelgard ran into Byleth and Bernadetta in the market.

"We need to take back the throne. Now."

"We are not near the capitol." Byleth stated.

"Then us three will go ahead. Bernadetta." Edelgard said. The introverted girl looked up. "Your scrapes are fully healed, so you don't have any reason to stay back.

"We will tell the others and gather our supplies. We will then leave." Byleth said.

The trio of warriors were on the road, alone.

"I know the ways of the empire, so I know I must fight for the throne. One of the lead advisors will have taken the lead. I will fight them."

'Will you kill them?"

"Most likely yes."

Byleth was silent. He knew that his father was dead. He just felt it. The sense of loss filled his mind. Byleth glanced down at the dirt, his shoes crusted in dried mud.

"You know, you shouldn't leave your friends behind!" They heard Dorothea yell from a few meters away.

Byleth jumped in surprise.

Ferdinand pulled up alongside Byleth and grinned. "C'mon professor, don't leave us behind!"

Petra dismounted and gestured for Edelgard to ride the horse.

"You might as well make an entrance."

And with that, with the help of her friends, Edelgard knew she would reclaim the throne.

And that is the end of this super long chapter! I know my other stories haven't been updated in a while, so I will try to put more effort into them. (I honestly have been playing three houses and i'm really into FE currently)

Rember, if you have any requests, feel free to PM me or leave a review on the story!
