Hey people!
This story is set in the anime, sometime after the exchange event.
I really hope you guys enjoy reading, this is my first ty on JJK.
################################################################################
For the Tokyo students, evenings like these were pretty rare. Getting to just sit around with their teacher, doing nothing but fool around while eating dinner without anything more serious to worry about then the question who would be allowed to have the last piece of meat sure was a change of pace.
Normally, at least one of them would be out dealing with some curse or investigate curse-related rumors.
The relaxed atmosphere really was doing wonders for everyone. They had all been kinda on edge. Of course, with the kind of work they were doing, as well as their school routine and while having to deal with the King of Curses himself from time to time, or in Yuji's case, constantly, tended to leave them in a pretty tense mood on most days.
Right now though, no one was thinking about their normal daily struggles.
Gojo-sensei had decided for all of them to spend some down time together, watching movies and having dinner. Each one of them had reacted a bit differently when the white haired man had come in and basically ordered them in front of the TV.
Megumi had been annoyed, Nobara had tried to act cool, but had really failed at that, due to her excitement being way to obvious to be mistaken for anything else. Yuji of course had been hyped up immediately and had started fooling around with their teacher right away, both men acting like some sort of over excited toddlers. (And if one asked Megumi, that was exactly what these two were.)
However, despite the good mood and childish behavior Satoru was displaying right now, the strongest sorcerer was worried.
All this stress wasn't healthy, especially for people as young as his students. Even if he was not at the school at all times, he still noticed certain things.
For one, Nobara hadn't bothered him about going sight seeing in the city for over two weeks now. Megumi was even more grumpy then usual and the normally always happy and straight forward Yuji was oddly quiet, sometimes even disappearing into the privacy of his own room for hours on end, leaving the others to spend their free time together without him.
He had a pretty good idea about why his precious students were acting like this, but since neither of them had come to him to talk about it, he'd decided to simply leave them with no choice but to spend time with him and each other. Once they were all happy and relaxed, he could maybe get some answers out of them.
If getting answers cost him a bunch of snacks, so be it.
"So then, my faithful disciples, who's ready for some fun!"
Pulling of an entrance like this was so worth it every single time, even if only to see that completely unimpressed and hilariously annoyed look on Megumi's face.
"What's it this time?"
"Awww, don't be so cruel Megu-chan, your devoted teacher has taken some of his valuable time off to spend it with you guys. I even brought snacks!"
The dark haired teen stared at him, rolling his eyes. "No tanks, I have stuff to do."
"But you don't even know what we're gonna do yet!" The mock hurt he put into his own voice should work just fine for this. Megumi was, even if he tried no to show it too openly, a very kind and caring soul after all.
A second later, his assumption was proven right and his efforts payed off.
"Okay, fine! But please stop your whining."
"So, Gojo-sensei, what are we gonna do?" Yuji looked at him, wide honey colored eyes full of excitement.
Smiling, he threw his arms around the two male student's shoulders. Was he imagining things, or were his boys unusually tense right now?
"Well, we'll have dinner and then watch a few movies of course!"
"Whooo! Nobara, you in too?"
"Yeah, whatever."
With this settled, they started preparations. While he and Nobara were busy setting the table and preparing the snacks he'd brought, his other students were in the kitchen making their food. Since Yuji was the only one in their group who was a somewhat decent cook and Megumi had actually assisted him on a few occasions, this set up was really the only logical way to split up the tasks among their little group.
Once the boys were busy, Satoru decided that right now might be a good time to start asking questions.
"So, have you been to the city lately?"
Sighing, the girl shook her head. "Nah, didn't really feel like going, especially since those two idiots didn't seem too eager to tag along, I mean, who is supposed to carry my stuff if they won't come, right?"
If this comment had come from anyone else, it would have come off as rude, but from Nobara, this was as normal and friendly as it was ever going to get.
"Really now? Not even Yuji-kun? I could see Megumi refusing, but our dear cursed friend wouldn't turn down a trip to the city, right?"
In an instant, her face that had held a pretty neutral expression up until now turned surprisingly sour as she continued to put plates down onto the table with just a little bit more force then necessary.
"Hm, I thought so as well, but apparently, I was wrong."
Okay, this really didn't sound all that promising "You wanna talk about it? Did my little group of troublemakers fight or something?"
Before she could answer, the boys walked back inside, both carrying food. They'd decided to go for a simple pasta dish.
"So then, everybody ready to eat?" Huge grin on his face, Yuji started piling food on everyone's plates. Satoru immediately noticed the tense air between the two boys, as well as the fact that the bright smile his rose haired student wore didn't really seem to reach his eyes.
Now that he took a closer look at him, he noticed the teen looking a bit pale and tired as well.
Ever since the kid had stayed at his place for a while after he'd been declared 'dead', he'd come to learn quite a few interesting things about his charge. From simple habits over his likes and dislikes for food (which were practically non existent), up to certain things concerning the almost always angry curse inhabiting his students body and the way those two seemed to interact on a daily basis.
Said curse was also the most likely reason for his young friends current out of character behavior. Of course, he couldn't be sure until he'd get some sort of proof. From past experience he new that this wouldn't be easy. Yuji tended to keep all things concerning Sukuna very close to himself. Whenever the topic came up, he seemed rather uncomfortable and tried to change the subject as fast as possible or seemed to find some sort of excuse to leave the room all together.
Satoru was no fool. He was well aware that housing the King of Curses wasn't easy. He just wished the teen would sometimes be a bit more forthcoming with information if that aasshole caused him any trouble, at least towards his devoted teacher!
Shaking his head, he decided to focus on dinner for now. If he started to act as strange as his students were currently doing, he'd get nowhere with his efforts.
Once dinner was over, Nobara and Yuji declared that they needed to wash up. This left him and Megumi to clear the table. This was going better then he'd expected. Now, he could try to get something out of the most closed off out of all his kids. Even if he had known the dark haired teen the longest out of all his students, he often felt unable to understand what was going on in this stubborn kid's head.
To his surprise though, Megumi was the first one to speak.
"So, Satoru, what is all this really about?"
He really wasn't all that shocked to hear the shadow user had worked out that he wasn't only doing this just for the fun of it. After all, Megumi was the smartest and most suspicious out of the first years.
Beating around the bush wouldn't work here, so he decided to go with a direct approach. "Something's up with the three of you, right? You're all acting off a bit and I was wondering why."
"If you've already figured out this much , there's no way you don't have a petty good idea about what's going on already Satoru." The dry reply was so typical for his young friend that it was almost funny.
Grinning, he stretched his arms before answering. "Well, of course I do, but I also could be wrong, so…"
Satoru could see his student gritting his teeth while something akin to anger flashed through his dark eyes. "Something's wrong with that damn idiot, actually, has been ever since he came back from the dead and no matter what we do, he isn't talking."
"I take it you're talking about Yuji then?"
Nodding, Megumi sat down at the, now empty, table.
"You know Megumi, If I didn't know better, I'd say you're worried." Okay, teasing the teen about it maybe wasn't cool, but this was just the way he dealt with certain things.
"Of course I am!" Satoru had rarely seen his student this upset. "How couldn't I be when one of my friends has a frikkin monster inside his head! Who knows what that psycho is doing to him without us even knowing about it! I mean, come on! He literally died in front of me!" To his surprise, Megumi looked close to tears right about now.
Apparently, the pink haired teen wasn't the only one with stuff on his mind right now.
"And then he just comes back, clearly not okay, acting as if everything's fine! I just don't get why he doesn't let us help him." The last part was just a whisper, but even so, the hurt in it was very clear. "I though we were friends, or at least trusted each other."
Smiling, Satoru patted Megumi's head carefully. For his normally so reserved student to be so open about all of this just showed how heavy this was weighing on the kid's chest. "Don't worry about it too much, after all, I'm here to make sure he's okay. Also, I'm pretty sure he trusts you guys. He's just not one to want to cause other people to worry, you know?"
"Sensei, did anything… bad happen while he was with you?"
Surprised, he looked at the young man in front of him. "He really hasn't said anything about it?"
Sadly, Megumi shook his head. "Right before the exchange event started, I asked him about it, but I really didn't get much out of him. He just admitted that something did happen, but insisted that he was fine."
"Well, if he hasn't said anything, I don't think I should. This is kinda his story, especially since I wasn't even there when it happened. The only thing I can tell you is that it really was bad, even for our standards."
Footsteps in the hallway were marking the end of their conversation for now. After a few more seconds, Nobara walked into the room, now wearing some pretty comfortable looking clothes instead of her school uniform.
"So, what's up here guys? Megumi looks like someone just died."
"Oh, nothing much, just talking."
"About crazy Mr-I'm-fine-don't-worry-about-me?"
"Wow, how many nicknames have you though up for him? This is kinda getting out of hand!" It was quite funny to see how his students seemed to almost be capable of telepathic communications at times.
"Not even close to enough! Every time he pulls something stupid, a new one is added to the list!" Laughing insanely, Nobara grabbed both men and dragged them towards the TV. "Come on now, as soon as our missing princess shows up, we can finally get this party started!"
Her aggressive cheerfulness kinda managed to distract them for a bit. Once the three of them were settled, the room became silent.
When Yuji hadn't shown up after several minutes of waiting, the collective worry skyrocketed once again.
"So uhhm, should we maybe go look what he's doing?" The brown haired girl looked uncharacteristically unsure as she looked at her teacher and classmate.
Shaking his head, Satoru turned on the device in front of them. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure he'll come out once he's ready." The white haired teacher had a pretty good idea about what was keeping the energetic teen from joining them. Since he'd lived with the kid and his involuntary pet curse for a while, he'd noticed Yuji sometimes staring into space or just disappearing into his room for a while
He suspected this to be related to Sukuna demanding his students attention fully from time to time. And just as Megumi had stated earlier. They really could only guess what was happening inside this duo's shared mind and body at times.
"Listen you two." The two teens in the room suddenly went quiet, completely taken aback by their Sensei's sudden serious tone. "What do you think it is like to be the vessel for Ryomen Sukuna?"
"Hm." Megumi looked thoughtful before answering. "I think I remember Yuji saying something about hearing Sukuna's voice right after he swallowed the first finger, but other then that, I have no idea. I mean, how are we supposed to know? He never says anything about it, right?"
Nodding in approval, he turned towards Nobara, who seemed to be deep in thought.
"I… I think I actually haven't given it much thought up until now. I men, I've never seen or heard anything that would indicate that thing is even inside that idiot in the first place you know?"
Now that she mentioned it, she was indeed right. Those times that the Curse had actually managed to manifest, only himself and/or Megumi had been present. "You know, I think it would be good if it stayed this way." He could see the shadow user nod frantically.
"He's right Nobara, Sukuna is… a real piece of work."
Satoru couldn't help but laugh at that. "You know Megumi, this is probably the most humane way anyone has ever described that asshole up until now!"
"Oh, now I'm curious! I mean, even if he's a curse, he can't be that terrible, right?"
"You mean aside from ripping out his vessel's heart? Oh, my poor, naive little student, why don't we ask Yuji's opinion on this?"
"Satoru, you know just as well as I do that he doesn't talk about it, right?"
Sighing, the first class sorcerer got serious again. "Yeah, I know. But even if he doesn't, there are a few things I have noticed and I think I feel generous enough to share right now."
The two teens stared at him in anticipation, hope and dread shining in their eyes in equal measure.
"First of all. Have you ever seen Yuji just staring into space?"
Both nodded.
"You're right." Megumi looked at him. "Sometimes he just kinda spaces out on us."
"I suspect that during those times, the only thing holding his attention is Sukuna. I once tried talking to him while he was like that and he didn't react at all. Also, he sometimes seems to be talking to himself. It was pretty creepy when I walked in on that once. It sounded like they were having an argument about something." Remembering that particular evening of curse energy training made him almost shudder. It had taken him a second back then to actually remember that his student had another entity living in his body and the teen had not simply lost it or something.
"Wait a sec!" Nobara looked kinda impressed. "You mean to tell us that he's actually arguing and talking with that thing on a regular basis?"
"Yeah, as Megumi mentioned earlier, Sukuna seems to almost constantly talk to Yuji. I sometimes wonder if this interferes with the kid getting enough sleep. As tired as he looks sometimes, I'm pretty certain it does. Anyways, on to the next thing. From some comments our young friend has made on certain occasions I gathered that it's probably a bit harder then it looks to suppress Sukuna sometimes."
At this last comment, Megumi paled visibly. "What?! Do you know how serious this could be? What if he gets out again and...-"
Raising his hand, he got his student to shut up. "Don't worry, it's still under control. I think it gets harder to do whenever our dear King of Curses is especially angry. And even then, he hasn't managed to take control, no matter how hard he may have tried."
"Yeah, but what if… I mean, doesn't Sukuna get stronger with each finger Yuji eats?"
"Come no Megumi, you sound exactly like our superiors when you talk like that! This was one of their favorite point when trying to get our friend executed right away."
"I didn't mean to imply they were right, it's just… After what happened the last time Sukuna got out, I guess I'm just a bit paranoid."
"Who wouldn't be after that." This had been one other occasion besides the indecent with Junpei where he had failed his students big time. "Now that I told you about this, would you mind keeping an eye on our problem child when I'm not around? I need to know if anything like right now is happening again right away, okay?"
"Sure, but are we even sure his strange behavior is even connected to Sukuna?" Nobara bit her lip thoughtfully. "I mean, it could be anything else as well, right? I mean, he's had to deal with a lot of shit ever since before he came here, right?"
"Sure, you're right about that, but I doubt that he's acting this off because of anything that's already over and done with"
"Aaaaand, speaking of Yuji, I think we've given him enough time to get his useless butt over here. Let's just go get him!" Satoru had to admit that the auburn haired girl was right. They'd been talking for quite a bit now after all.
At this point, he'd started to get concerned about his missing student as well, so he agreed with the young women right away. Only minutes later, the trio found themselves outsides the pink haired teen's dorm room.
However, before he could knock, they could hear voices from the inside. One was definitely Yuji's, and the other one… He wasn't completely sure, but one look at Megumi's pale face told him that his hunch was right. The deeper voice in the room belonged to Sukuna.
The only one clueless seemed to be Nobara. "Huh, who's he talking to? I don't recognize…" Once she read their expressions, she finally caught on. "Oh, so that's him then?"
"Jup, sure is."
"Oooookay, but how do they both talk at the same time? That's kinda creepy."
Well, if she thought that was creepy, she'd really hate the curl reality. "You see, actually, Sukuna can open up his own mouth somewhere on Yuji's body. His eyes as well. Have you ever notices those two scars he has under his eyes?"
Disgusted frown on her face, she nodded.
"Well, those are the spots Sukuna's eyes, or better, his second set of eyes opens whenever he's in control or simply wants to take a look around."
"Wow, that's just… completely disgusting. How does that idiot deal with something like this? He must really have no sense for what's disgusting and what isn't!"
"Wait until you see him eat one of those fingers…" Man, for a sorceress, that girl sure could be picky at times.
"Stop it! I really don't feel like puking right about now!"
"Could you two shut up for a moment?! I'm trying to listen!"
For once, both of them did what Megumi had requested. Soon, they could hear those two voices again, this time more clearly now that they were all paying closer attention, they could actually listen in on the ongoing conversation.
"… I said No! Also, could you maybe shut up for a minute?! I actually have other plans today besides entertaining you!"
"Oh? You mean wasting the little time you have left with those losers? They're just being nice because they are scared of us. They wouldn't want a freak like you there anyways. Actually, I think I'm doing us a favor."
"And you think listening to your BS all evening is the better option here?"
"Careful brat, talking back to me is never a good idea, I thought I had made myself pretty clear on that subject the last time you tried getting sassy with me." There was a very clear threat in the curses voice now.
"Trust me, I haven't After all, spending time with you is a really unforgettable experience." Tired sarcasm was dripping out of Yuji's voice with every word.
The only response coming from the other was an audible growl, followed by a pained yelp coming from their friend.
"Ow! Damn it you jerk, stop biting me!" A sharp slap was hear. It sounded as if someone had been hit in the face.
"How often are you going to try that until you learn that it isn't working? Man, you are really an idiot, aren't you little one?"
"Am not! But at least you didn't bite off my fingers again."
"Oh, get over it already, I grew them back, didn't I?"
"Yeah you did, but only after three days! Have you any idea how hard it was to hide this from Gojo-sensei?!"
Now that he thought about it, there had been a time during training, when Yuji had been strangely hesitant to use his left hand. Actually, the teen had full on been hiding the thing from view entirely.
Hm, at least now he knew the reason for this oddity.
Snickering could be heard from the other side of the door. "Aw, but it was so much fun seeing you struggle like that, especially since you're such a pathetic liar you know?"
Apparently, Yuji didn't feel like gracing the curse with more then an annoyed groan for an anser.
Satoru really was intrigued by this. Listening in on Sukuna and Yuji bickering like that was way better then any movie he'd brought. Apparently, the other two students seemed to think so as well. Both had their ears pressed against the door, a completely fascinated look on their faces.
Still though, as funny as this was, the curse had implied something that he simply couldn't ignore. From the way things had sounded, this monster had actually done something to punish Yuji in some way or another and had actually hurt him occasionally.
This could become a huge problem if it got out of hand. What if Sukuna would find a way to basically torture the poor kid into submission? Shaking his head, he tried to chase that thought away. If there would be a way for that Curse to do this, he would certainly have done so already.
Still though, this still didn't mean that he'd simply sit by and watch as Sukuna continued to stress out one of his students!
Deciding to end this before things could get out of hand, he quickly took a step back and harshly knocked on the door, while cheerfully raising his voice. "Yuji-kun? What's taking you so long?"
Without waiting for an answer, he turned the handle and opened the door.
There, in the middle of the floor sat his student, looking back and forth between them and his hand.
Behind him, Satoru could hear Nobara make a disgusted sound. Normally, he would have made fun of her for that, but when confronted with the greatest of all evils for the first time, he could make an exception. Seriously, who wouldn't freak out at seeing one of their best friends with a fang sporting and insanely grinning mouth on their hand, as well as an extra eye on their face?
"See? I told you so you damn brat…" With that, the curse retreated back into its vessel, not even bothering to spare them a single glance.
For a few seconds, silence was all that could be heard in the room. Then, Yuji finally got up and grinned at them sheepishly while rubbing the back of his head with one hand.
"Oh, sorry you guys!"
Still looking at the spot in his students hand where a second mouth had sat only seconds before, Satoru took a few steps towards his obviously nervous student.
"You okay?"
"Sure, he's just been a little more talkative lately, nothing to worry about." Still grinning, Yuji made his way towards the door. "So then, weren't we supposed to watch some movie?"
The teacher and his remaining students stared open mouthed after the rose haired teen as he made his way towards the room they'd initially been in. Then, they looked at each other.
"How on earth does he deal with this constantly?" groaned Nobara, who still looked a little green. "I'd be so disgusted and freaked out if something like this was happening to my body on a regular basis!" She looked like she was really reconsidering her opinion on their friend right about now.
"Yeah, me too. And don't forget, it's talking." A shudder ran through Megumi's body. "I mean seriously, this must be so annoying. Not to mention dangerous. I wouldn't put it past that monster to try driving Yuuji into insanity only to get control over his body or simply because he's bored."
"Well, that aside, I'm more worried about what exactly that lunatic is putting into our dear friends head." He really meant that. Just from this short piece of conversation they had managed to catch it was painfully obvious that those exchanges weren't a very good way to keep sane for Yuji.
The other two nodded.
"Okay, but enough of that now. There are still movies to watch!"
And just like that, they were off.
The only thing still lingering from this experience was the one single thought that was going through everyone's minds at this very second.
They'd make damn sure to watch their friend eve more closely from now on.

Thank you guys so much for reading,
I really do like Satoru acting as somewhat of a guardian for his students. Also, I don't think Nobara ever had any kind of contact with Sukuna, so I decided to throw some of this in as well.
I really hope you enjoyed this story as much as I did. Please tell me what you think and if you would enjoy reading more one shots like this one.
See ya around!
