"ZERO, GET YOUR ASS OUT OF BED ALREADY! IT'S NEARLY NOON!"
15-year-old Zero Spicer groaned loudly as he shuffled under his bed sheets, moving a pillow over his head in an attempt to block out the sound of his mother's voice, "DON'T MAKE ME BRING A BUCKET OF ICE WATER UP THERE!" Despite the pillow, Zero heard every word - said words made the teenager quickly throw the pillow of his head, rolling over and throwing his bed sheet's back, "FINE! I'M GETTING UP!" He shouted back as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and stood up, scratching his back as he walked into his bathroom.
Grumbling under his breath at being woken up, Zero went about his normal routine - have a shit before brushing his teeth and throwing on some clothes.
Once dressed, Zero threw open his door and began descending downstairs, where he saw his mother sat in front of the TV, her pet Umbreon laying across her lap, "It's about time you got out of your pit!" Zero just rolled his eyes as he walked passed his mum and into the kitchen, grabbing one of the already cooked pancakes up and taking a large, hungry bite.
Zero's mum rolled her eyes at her son's boyish behavior as she stroked her Umbreon's fur affectionately, "That obnoxious friend of yours was here before, said he needs you to go round for something or another. He was shouting and balling all sorts of nonsense like always." Zero rolled his eyes once more at his mother - why couldn't she just say Tommy had been round and wanted him to go over?
"Kay. Will go see what he wants," Zero said as he swallowed the remaining pancakes and heading to the door, only for his mother to shout out to him as his hand landed on the door knob, "Remember! No going in the tall gras, you have no pokemon to protect you so..." Remaining silent at his mother's words, Zero just turned the door knob and walked out, making sure to slam the door closed behind him, leaving his mother smirking to herself.
"Fucking prick..." Zero grumbled as he slammed the door, stopping to take a calming breathe as he pinched the space between his golden yellow eyes - Zero and his mother had a very strand relationship, which came about 5 years ago, when his deadbeat "dad" walked out on him and her.
Shaking away the memory, Zero made his way to Tommy's house - the only benefit of living in Twinleaf town was that it had a small population, making it so that very few houses where in said town.
It took less than 5 minutes to reach Tommy's house. The SECOND Zero went to knock on the door, said door flung open, smacking Zero straight in the face and sending him to the floor, "Fuck!" Zero cursed loudly as he rubbed the side of his face where the door had hit, looking up to see none-other than his best (and only) friend, Tommy, stood above him, a massive grin on his face.
"Zero! Great timing, I was just coming to find you!" Tommy exclaimed in his usual excitable way, completely oblivious to the fact that he had smacked his friend in the house - as well not noticing the glare that was being sent his way as Zero stood up, still rubbing his sore face.
"Come on, come on! We are going to the lake!" Tommy continued to shout as he grabbed Zero's arm and dragged him away from his house and towards the outskirts of the town, only stopping his pulling once they reached the route just outside of Twinleaf town.
"I'mma ignore the fact you just dragged me here aganest my will, but i'll bite - why the fuck are we going to the lake? Nothing ever happens there!" Zero said as his arm was released and he look to Tommy with a steadfast face. Undeterred by his friends face, Tommy clenched his fists and lifted them up as he continued to shout with a child like excitement, "Whilst oyu were sleeping, I was watching this awesome sauce movie about a red Gyarados that is meant to live in a lake! And I'm betting that pokemon can be found in the lake by us! Come on! Let's go find us that there red Gyarados!"
Zero just sighed as his friend ran ahead of him - this wasn't the first time he had been dragged to the lake for stupid reasons: many times before, Tommy had watched a movie about some random pokemon living in a lake, and automatically jumped at the idea of whatever it was was therefor living in the lake by the town.
"There won't be anything there...there never is..." Zero thought as he caught up to Tommy, who was waiting by the tree's that lead to the lake, "Come on! Come on! It's gotta be there! I'm telling you!" Zero repressed rolling his eyes, forcing a smile and a nod as he and Tommy passed through the tree's. the lake coming into view.
"What the...?" Tommy said from in front of Zero, his face twisted in confusion as he looked ahead. Looking at Tommy weirdly at first, Zero followed the excitable boy's eye direction, spotting two figures who were approaching them.
"Excuse me - please allow me to pass," The first figure, an older gentleman with white hair, a white mustache and a brown cloak, stated as he seemed to look down his nose at the two 15-year-olds.
Zero's eye twitched at the man's words - he had a real problem with adults, especially those who looked down their nose at him just because he wasn't of adult age - Though Zero did recognize the man as the localized Professor of the region: Professor Rowan - and everyone knew that this professor wasn't to be messed with. So Zero chose to just step aside and allow the stern looking man to pass silently.
"Oh! Urm...sorry, thank you!" The second figure spoke sheepishly - this time it was a young girl with deep blue hair and matching eyes who spoke as she caught up to the professor and shimmied past the two boys.
"Shes purtty..." Zero heard Tommy sigh out, making Zero snicker slightly - There we're no girls of there age in Twinleaf town, but Tommy liked to think he was a Casanova of sorts.
"Moving on swiftly..." Zero grumbled to himself as Tommy suddenly snapped out of his puppy love daze, his normal, wide grin spreading across his face as he grabbed onto Zero's arm and began dragging him towards the thick grass, "Don't jsut stand there like a pleb! Let's get searching for that pokemon!" Zero sighed as he was dragged, but soon dug his heels into the soft ground, stopping the pulling and making Tommy look back at him in confusion, "We can't go in the grass genius, neither of us have a pokemon, so what if we are attacked? The hell are we going to do then?"
"No problem! We won't be in the grass long enough for any pokemon to attack!" Tommy replied as he moved behind Zero and pushed him from the back, sending Zero forward, headfirst into the grass, where he dissapeared from Tommy's sight for a fraction of a second before the hyperactive boy jumped feet first after him.
