"Hey, Conan?" Ran asked, pausing her dinner.

"Yeah?" Conan looked up at her.

"That was you back in Singapore, Arthur Hirai, right?"

Conan dropped his fork, which fell back onto the plate with a clatter. He stared at the girl, mouth agape.

"Yeah." Kogoro chimed in. "I don't know how or why but that had to be you."

Well, Conan considered his options, and, at this point, does it really matter if they knew or not? It's not like KID could still blackmail him, now that he was back in Japan.

"Yeah..." Conan admitted as he took a bite of his dinner, head hung low.

"I knew it!" Ran said. "That was too much of a coincidence."

"But, why?" Kogoro asked. The other two looked at the boy curiously.

"Basically..." Conan began. "KID kidnapped me and smuggled me into Singapore, because he-" Conan stopped himself. There's no way he could tell them it was because KID wanted his detective prowess. "W-well, I'm not too sure actually... I guess he just wanted me there."

"What weird guy." Kogoro commented.

"But why did you go along with it?" Ran asked. "You could've just told us."

"Oh, he uh.. didn't bring my passport so I wouldn't be able to get back to Japan without him. That's why I didn't say anything." Conan lied.

"I can't believe him!" Ran bristled with anger. "He disguised as Shinichi and did that to you!" Her fist clenched. "The next time I see that guy..!"

Conan almost felt bad for the theif (he would anyone who had Ran's wrath directed towards them). Although, he could admit KID kind of deserved it.

"But, how'd he even do that?" Kogoro asked. "It's not easy to sneak someone into a foreign country."

"He put me in that suitcase." Conan answered.

"He put you in a suitcase!?" Ran angrily repeated.

"A-ah well, it wasn't that bad." Conan quickly said, trying to calm the girl down and save KID from a few extra kicks. "It had really soft padding and he put an oxygen generator in there. It also had some special lining so that nothing would come up in the x-ray; I think his assistant made it." He explained. "It was still pretty cramped though. Like, the return flight was pretty awful. He could've at least had the decency to knock me out like he did for the first flight." He complained.

"He knocked you out!?" Ran furiously yelled.

Oops. Maybe that wasn't the best thing to say.

"W-when did he..!" She furiously asked and stared at the boy.

"I-it was when I was walking home from the Professor's..." Conan instinctively answered under her gaze. "He came up to me disguised as you." He added for good measure.

Conan could practically feel the anger emanating off of her.

"As me, huh..?" She let out a couple of dry laughs as she tightly gripped the fork in her hand, nearly breaking it.

Sorry, KID.

There was no saving him.

Kogoro and Conan both went back to their dinners, concerned for the theif's safety.

"But, anyway," Kogoro soon began. "Being a master of disguise, he really could've done something more than just change your skin tone."

"Honestly." Conan agreed. "He should've at least made it a bit easier for me."

"Yeah. I thought you were just Conan at first." Ran said after calming down a bit.

"And that name too." Kogoro grumbled. "Like, what kinda name is Hirai Arthur?"

"Y-yeah..." Conan decided not to correct him. He could leave the blame on KID.

He wasn't too good at impromptu name creation, was he.

"Ah!" Ran suddenly realized. "That means you also knew KID was Shinichi the whole time."

"Y-yeah." Conan bristled. "I wanted to tell you, I really did, but I also didn't want to be stuck in Singapore, so..."

"Ah, your fine Conan-kun." She assured. "It's all that theif's fault." She growled as she stabbed a carrot on her plate.

"But..." She began. "He at least told you what was going on beforehand, right? ...I hope he didn't just let you wake up in a completely different country with no idea of how you got there." She asked him, worried.

"Uh..." He nervously laughed. The looks on the other two's faces we're almost startling.

"Eh!?" Ran angrily yelled.

"You're kidding." Kogoro said in disbelief.

"That guy..." Ran hissed under her breath.

Conan really didn't think KID was going to survive his next heist (and not because of any sort of snipers).

Well.. this was payback.

Somewhere off in the Ekoda district, a certain magician let out a sneeze.

He grumbled and rubbed his nose.

"Hope I'm not coming down with a cold..."
