Prologue
YGGDRASIL.
It is a fantasy DMMO-RPG where one could play as if they were in real life.
In that game, which consisted of nine humongous homeworlds and thousands of amazing job and racial classes, existed a player who reigned above all others when it came to magical might.
He, who stood at the level cap of 100 and was known as the strongest wielder of the ultimate offensive magic caster 《World Disaster》 job class, was Diablo.
He was not an official monster but was still regarded as a game Boss because of his near-perfect character build that possessed both maxed out MP and an absurd amount of magical firepower, as well as the fact that he owned two World-class items of which one had been used by him in the past so that he would gain perfect immortality and an insane increase in his overall stats. That World Item was known as 《Ambrosia》, an item that belonged to the mightiest group of its kind, the Twenty, of which each was a single-use item.
He was also a Demon of the highest order – an Evil Lord. It was a racial class of great power that possessed several immunities to various elements and damage types.
Excluding all of that, he also possessed various Divine class items, that were the highest rank a player of the 100th level could possibly create.
However, that is only a part of what this player that is known as the Demon King can do. After all, only the fact that he has enough ability to be at the point that it's scary was widely known among the top-tier players. But even that little information had been enough to turn Diablo into a legend.
But even with all that power, fame, and whatnot else, there is still something that greatly confuses YGGDRASIL's players about this extraordinary individual.
–For some reason, the usual Demon King goes easy on people.
The Demon King that gets serious is so strong that it's absurd. It's enough to make people never think of challenging him again.
Many of the top-tier players that overheard that rumor challenged the Demon King just to try out and make him get serious.
However, they didn't forget how the usual Demon King was.
–Just what will make the Demon King get serious!?
Is it the rank of the player's equipment?
Is it the title that they possess?
Is it only against those that have the most flawless builds that he will show his seriousness?
They possessed any or all of those things.
Something that will make the strongest World Disaster, Demon King Diablo, get serious.
That is–
「Ah, these guys are a couple. Let's kill them.」
Demon King Diablo – the one that is that player, Sakamoto Takuma, discovered a certain item that hid in his 《Item Box》, which was a separate pocket dimension where players like him could store an unlimited number of items with a certain weight limit, and muttered.
He fixed himself and sat deeply into his obsidian throne that had dozens of unrecognizable gold and silver-colored symbols etched upon its surface.
Before his eyes, a dungeon that had been made even to the finest detail was displayed.
On the wall that was grotesquely designed to imitate internal organs, there were skeletal candle stands and white bone-colored candles that were lit. On the field was a spread-out marble floor, a battle was in the middle of being carried out.
The man that towered in front of the throne, was dressed in full black and had red serpent-like eyes, snow-white hair, a violet tattoo on his left cheek, and a pair of black horns growing out of him, was the player character that those around him called Demon King.
The ones that challenged the Demon King were a male priest and a female paladin.
Takuma, like a Demon King would, curved the corners of his mouth upwards.
「The fools that carry the impure thing known as love from the real world into the game world, I, the Demon King, have no choice but to pass judgment upon them.」
Normally, one would think that a girl in a DMMO-RPG would be an urban legend but, it was definitely obvious that those two were boyfriend and girlfriend in reality. Which one was the male and which one was the female was beside the point. YGGDRASIL was very popular among both genders, too.
In this game, there was an item called a 《Wedding Ring》.
It seems that it was implemented as a prized item for a certain Valentine's day event due to demands from a portion of the players, but...
Although it could only be equipped if there was consent from the two players, it was an item with no ability-like merits whatsoever.
Unless they not only knew each other offline but were also boyfriend and girlfriend, they shouldn't even think about obtaining one.
Takuma finally found the item that he had been looking for.
「Ku ku ku... If you have the 《Wedding Ring》, then I will make you regret using such a pointless piece of equipment with a ring of my own.」
While having even his heart turn into that of a Demon King's, Takuma had equipped the item that was the reason why many magic casters held animosity towards him.
《Rejection of Myth and Legend》
Bouncing any and all types of magic back, it was one of the strongest pieces of equipment in this game. It belongs to the ultimate class of items, the same as 《Ambrosia》 which he had used on himself in the past, the almighty World Items. Of course, this ring did not belong to the Twenty. Thus, it was not a single-use item and could be utilized at any moment without the worry of it vanishing the next moment.
By being the first to defeat a certain Boss of the past that had made its appearance in an update around two years ago all by himself, the game developers had rewarded him with this item.
Normally none would receive a World Item as a reward in this game, but not even the broken World Champions, the strongest warriors, could manage said Boss on their own.
And, having seen the recording of Diablo's and that Boss' battle that the developers had released, with Diablo's permission, of course, the rest of the players could not bring themselves to complain of the amazing quality of Diablo's reward.
A Boss of that caliber was not supposed to be defeated by a magic caster, after all. In other words, Diablo had done something that, at the time, had been thought of as impossible, that's how powerful that Boss had been.
Although, Takuma had to admit that even with his tremendously improved equipment and experience, he would rather avoid doing battle with said Boss ever again. At that time, the timing and luck had aided him greatly, recalled the Demon King with slight but well-hidden embarrassment as he prepared to do battle.
The fact that magic cast onto him by himself will not be reflected, unless he willed it otherwise, only served to make this ring all the more of a cheat than it already was. With this piece of equipment equipped, he was unstoppable!
「It will be an extermination! Equipping these things called Wedding Rings that increase neither defense nor attacks, for you to challenge me, the Demon King, with those on, you damned fools! DMMOs aren't just for fun. Also, riajuus should just explode. That's why! I shall make you explode! In a magnificent manner!」
A one-sided slaughter had started.
Firing the magic that he had mastered, he blew apart his opponents with ease.
With all of his opponent's magic attacks being bounced back, completely none of them had reached him.
Like this, Takuma had once again made another couple experience fear of DMMOs.
He doesn't care about the other players.
What made the Demon King Diablo serious, was not a game-like reason.
–Kill couples.
Just that desire alone is what caused him to become the very symbol of fear known as the Demon King.
He never thought in his wildest dreams that the next day, after this amazing game he enjoyed playing so much came to an end, he would be transported to another world as a genuine Demon King.
...I'll be honest with you all. Wherever I continue this or not, I have no idea. I'm a busy man, what can I say?
