I don't own RWBY, only the direction of the story this takes and any OC's I bring into this

Wolf jerked awake, wondering where he was. Realizing where, he relaxed again. He was in one of those bullheads. Checking his pocket, he looked at the time on his scroll. Noting that they were almost there, he sighed and stood up. He had a set of dark blue jeans, what was supposed to be a tight fitting light gray t-shirt (he was tall and lean), a dark green hoodie, and a set of dark gray multipurpose shoes, meant for anything. He had a longsword strapped to his back (technically its a bastard sword, but longsword sounds cooler). Wolf looked around, taking note of the passengers, many of which were color coded. He saw two girls arguing about something, one blonde and the other dark hair with red tips, and another guy who seemed to be dealing with motion sickness. At that moment, there was an announcement from the teacher known as Professor Goodwitch, announcing their imminent arrival. Wolf walked over to the window like everyone else, pretending to be interested in the sight of Beacon below them, but instead looking at his relfection. Brown hair and sky blue eyes looked back at him. He sighed again, and wondered how long he could keep it up. Then he shook his head. No more pessimistic thoughts! He coulld do this, he could be the first... right?

In no time at all, the Bullhead finished docking, and the motion sick one ran ahead, presumably towards a trashcan. Standing up, Wolf stretched and yawned, until someone bumped into him.

"Whoops, Sorry about that!" a feminine voice said behind him. Turning around, Wolf replied,

"No big deal. I'm fine, right?" the person who bumped into him was a redheaded lady carrying a spear and a shield. Sticking out his hand, Wolf introduced himself. "My names Wolf, what's yours?" The redhead raised an eybrow and asked, "Are you... serious?" "Well, yeah, I'm not telepathic. Should I know..." "A-ah, nevermind. I'm Pyrrah Nikos." She looked absolutely estatic that Wolf didn't recognize her. "Well, Pyrrah, nice to meet you." there was a loud explosion in the distance, folowed by intense shouting between the red and black themed girl he noticed earlier and a white themed girl having an argument. Figuring that they should just leave them to their argument, Wolf said to Pyrrah, "We should probably head to the assembly." "I agree"

The assembly was short. As in, really, really short. As in, 30 seconds short. To be fair, it was geting kind of late, and there was an initiation to go to the next day. So, Wolf said goodbye to Pyrrah for the time being and went to the bathroom to freshen up. After stepping out of the shower, he walked up to the sink, just in a pair of shorts, and started brushing his teeth. He finished up, and went to leave the bathroom, only to trip up the one who puked before. "Oh, geez, sorry man! I didn't see you there" Wolf exclaimed. "It's fine, it's fine." the guy sighed. "Damn, what a first day." he seemed kind of put out, so Wolf asked, "What's your name?" The guy looked shocked that someone would ask him something like that. "U-um, Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, rolls off the tounge, the ladies love it." Wolf paused a moment, and chuckled. "Really? Well, you're gonna have to show me a trick or two. By the way, my name's Wolf." "Nice to meet'cha, Wolf! Huh, you're the second person I've spoken to today. Turns out most peope have their little friend groups already." "Heh, well, I guess we can start one ourselves, huh?" "Sure!" Jaune went to get changed, and when he got back, he was wearing a onesi. Wolf raised an eyebrow and said, "You've got some nerves wearing that in front of the whole school." Jaune looked embarrassed and asked, "Is it really that bad?" Wolf just grinned. "Man, just put a pair of shorts on or something. Break that out when we get dorms." "Alright, alright." Jaune left and returned again, this time wearing shorts. Walking out, Wolf noticed that a bunch of the girls were checking out the guys, somewhat including Wolf and Jaune. They were both a little on the skinnier side, although Wolf was more lean that skinny. All of a sudden, Jaune was shoved by a redheaded boy, who was pretty bulky, and not much shorter than Wolf. Jaune went down, and Wolf whirled in his direction and snarled menacingly, "Back off, dipshit!" the small group of boys stepped back a step, including the redhead, who then seemed to remember himself. He stepped up and said, "Or what?" Wolf stepped up into his face and growled, "You don't want to find out." The other kid blanched a moment and said, "Fine, whatever." And Wolf and Jaune continued off to their sleeping bags.

The next morning Wolf was woken up by an extremely loud and energetic red haired girl. She also ended up waking Jaune up by stepping on his arm. Wolf frowned at the rude awakening, but then the boy the girl had been trying to wake up looked over and said, "Sorry about Nora, she gets like this every once in a while. My name's Lie Ren, although you can just call me Ren." Wolf nodded, and said, "Nice to meet you guys, my name's Wolf. This here," he pointed to a groaning Jaune who was struggling to wake up, "is Jaune." At this point, Nora grabbed Ren's arm and began to drag him off. As he left, he called, "Nice to meet you! Hopefully we see you during the initiation!" Wolf waved goodbye, then poked Jaune, who was attempting to return to sleep after his failed wake-up attempt. "C'mon, we should get to the initiation." "Urg - it's too early..."

Wolf spotted Pyrrah speaking to the girl in white who was involved in the explosion the day before. She seemed to be trying to convince her to be on her team. Wolf wandered up, and said, "Morning, Pyrrah, how was your night?" "Good, yours?" "Actually pretty nice. I met another person who I think you'd get along with, he shoud be coming around here shortly." The girl in white cleared her throat. "*Ahem* Excuse me, but do you realize whose conversation you're interrupting?" Wolf blinked in suprise and said in return, "Um, I've been pretty far out of the loop... should I know you two?" the girl in white seemed to puff up. Wolf could almost feel the lecture coming, he shoud have just lied through his teeth and said he knew them. "I am Wiess Schnee, heir to the SDC in Atlas. And this," she pointed to Pyrrah, who seemed to shrink and grow embarrassed, "is Pyrrah Nikos, the two time champion of Haven and the Invincible Girl. So next time, maybe think before interrupting two of the more influential girls in this school." Wolf stared at the girl now known as Wiess. Pyrrah seemed almost depressed and dissapointed when Wolf spent a moment looking at both of them before hesitantly replying, "Okay...? Good for you two, I guess. I understood about two percent of her titles," he pointed to Pyrrah, "and I get the feeling that the SDC is a large company, but you should know, by out of the loop, I mean out of the loop. AND" he added, seeing Wiess inflate once more, "I'll find out eventually. But for now, I'll just stick to being friendly where I can." Wiess gaped at Wolf for a moment, before grinding out, "Well this is great! Hopefully there's no one else as rude and clueless as you..." Wolf frowned at that, but Jaune chose that moment to make his reappearance, sliding in between Wiess and Pyrrah. "Hey, snow angel, I couldn't help but overhear you looking for teammates. Well, I'm sure you'd love to join Jaune Arc's team, because I," he winked, "am the best person you're going to meet here." Wiess closed her eyes and muttered under her breath, "I swear to Orum, if this buffoon doesn't know us either..." she seemed to gather herself for a second. Pyrrah took that moment to step up, "Well, I'd like to join team Jaune." "Cool, cool. So is that a yes I hear, snow queen?" Jaune said, completely ignoring Pyrrah. Wiess snapped out, "Do you even realize who you are speaking to right now?!" "Uh, no?" "This is Pyrrah Nikos, champion of Haven." "Where?" "The Invincible Girl." "The what now?" "She's on every Pumpkin Pete's box, for Orums sake!" "OH, that? But they only put star athletes on it..." Wiess facepalmed, and Jaune took it as a sign to get closer. "So what about that team, huh?" "Pyrrah, a little help?" Pyrrah nodded, and threw her spear so it hooked onto Jaune's hoodie and pinned him to the nearby lockers. Wolf watched the entire exchange, before muttering, "Smooth." he turned to Pyrrah and Wiess, the latter who was walking off, and attmpting to drag the former with. Wolf called out, "Well, that was the person I wanted you to meet. He's not always like this." Pyrrah chuckled and said, "Oh, I thought it was funny. Anyways, see you in the initiation!

"...The first person you make eye contact with will be your partner." Professor Ozpin was saying. That comment was met with a course of groans and excited exclamations. "However, I do realize that there is an odd number of students here. However, that is due to special circumstances outside of your control, and the odd one out will be teamed up with another team to help them out where needed. And on that note, have a nice flight." Wolf wondered what he meant by that. They weren't taking the Bullhead anywheres, right...? All of a sudden, he heared a noise that sounded a lot like a catapult, felt a massive amout of acceleration, and found himself flying WAY to high up to be comfortable, for a normal person. Which, Wolf thought wryly, he was anything but, even by Huntsman standards. Wolf righted himself in midair, so instead of flipping around, he was skydiving. The ground rushed up to meet him, and at the last second he tucked in to roll, snapping a good deal of branches on his way down. He could hear Jaune screaming in the distance, hopefuly he'd be fine. Wolf looked around, seeing the others using their weapondry to bring them further along. They were supposed to go and find a set of relics that were somewhere in the woods. Taking off at a brisk jog, he ran off in the direction they were launched. He never ran into anyone, but after some time he heared a skirmish off in the distance. Picking up his pace, he ran toward the noise.

Pyrrah was having a grand initiation. Not only did she get to team up with one of the two people who didn't know her, it was also the (sorry Wolf) better looking one! Also, Jaune probably was far more clueless, considering how he didn't even have his aura unlocked. Although, even though she was having fun, the mood was kind of dampened by having to run for their lives from a giant scorpion. That tends to ruin most good moods (Jaune screaming was hilarious, though. You'd think he'd never seen a Grimm before). Pyrrah had almost made it to the clearing where everyone else was when the scorpion finally hit her with a lucky strike. Thankfully, her armor and Aura were more than enough to compensate, so instead of dying she just went flying into the group, who seemed to be doing a roll call of confusion. Finally, Yang snapped out, "Can everyone please just SHUT UP for a moment!" there was silence for a moment, which Pyrrah used to go grab a relic for her and Jaune. Everyone was there, Blake, Ruby, Wiess, Yang, Nora, Ren, Cardin, Sky, and the other two. Everyone but Wolf. Hoping he was ok, Pyrrah turned around just in time to see Ruby being pinned to the ground by Nevermore feathers. Gasping, she saw the scorpion that flung her earlier running towards her, stinger ready to stike. Wiess tried to block the scorion, but the Nevermore rained feathers down in front of her, causing her to stop. Not wanting to watch, knowing there was nothing she could do, she closed her eyes. There was a loud thud, followed by the ripping of cloth. Opening her eyes a little, she gasped. "Wolf! Nice timing!" She shouted over to him. Wolf had jumped directly into the path of the scorpion's tail. He had fallen down on top of Ruby, and it looked like her cape was what had torn. The scorpion was still trying to drive its stinger through Wolf, but Pyrrah could see no Aura used. She thought that maybe he had armor there as she ran towards them in an attempt to help the two of them, closely followed by Wiess and Yang. Everyone else was focusing on the Nevermore. Yang punched the stinger off Wolf and Ruby, driving it into the ground. Wiess cycled the hilt on her rapier to blue dust as Pyrrah drove her spear through the gap in between armor segments on the tail, using a litte bit of her semblance to help drive the point home and to keep it there. Wiess then froze the tail, and went to help Ruby up and scold her. Wolf had stood up by that point and, drwaing his longsword in a two-handed grip, slashed the segment of tail above the one Pyrrah's spear was in, driving it about halfway through. The scorpion screeched and attempted to reach out and grab the two of them, but somehow managed to finish breaking off its own tail. Pyrrah and Wolf stepped back, and the scorpion charged after them, trying once more to grab them in its claws. However, it only got halfway before Ren and Nora came out of nowhere, Ren stabbing lightly into the Grimm's side, and Nora driving it almost hilt deep with a hammer swing. Screaching, the scorion made a retreat, Ren grabbing his blade on the way out. "We don't need to stick around here!" Ruby shouted. "Yeah, we've got the relics, lets go!" Jaune added. Blake sent a fire dust bullet towards the eyes of the Nevermore, blinding it long enough fr the group to make their escape. Running back towards Beacon, they nearly made it back before they were ambushed by another Nevermore and a pack of Beowolves. They were at an old, abandoned bridge, with what were once tall, proud columns and an easy pass were now treacherous falling hazards and an impassble gap. Jaune called, "Nora! I'm going to try and lure one of these birds towards a column, I want you to knock it down. Wolf, Pyrrah, you take anyone who isn't fighting the birds to fight the wolves, don't let them attack those of us who are taking the birds down. Ren, I'm going to need you to get me out of the Grimm's path once it's in position." Ruby at the same time called out, "Blake, Yang, drive or lure the Nevermore to the side of the clifyou do get out of there." Blake and Yang ndded, and left to go do that. Ruby then turned to Wiess. "Wiess, I know I haven't done very well so far, but I need you to trust me." Wiess grumbled a moment and said, "Fine. What do you need me to do?" "Can you launch me as fast as you can at the neck of the Nevermore?" "Hmph! Can I?!" "Can't you?" "Of course I can!"

"Cardin Winchester, Russel Thrush, Dove Bronzewing, and Sky Lark, you four will make team CRDL (Cardinal), with Cardin being your leader!" Ozpin called, the four students making their way up to the stage. A handshake and a few words were exchanged onstage between Ozpin and the four students, one being the one who pushed Jaune. They were being put into their teams, and Ozpin was just finishing up the ceremony. Jaune Arc, Wolf, Nora Valkarie, Pyrrah Nikos, and Lie Ren, you will make team JWNPR (Juniper), with Jaune Arc as your leader!" Wolf grinned, he was put on a team with all the people he met so far! Walking up to the stage, he noticed Jaune's look of complete shock. Pyrrah leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Congratulations, Jaune!" when they made it to the stage, Ozpin shook Jaune's hand and said, "Well done, young man. You earned it." Wolf thought back to the fight at the bridge. Dispite Jaune's less than average fighting skills, his ability to think about everyone else and how they could best put their skills to use under such pressure was astounding. Wolf was broken out of his musings by Ozpin calling out, "And finally, Ruby Rose, Wiess Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao-Long will make team RWBY (ruby), lead by Ruby Rose!" Ah, finally something to call them other than their color. The four of them made their way up, Ruby looking extremely excited and shocked, Wiess looking shocked and disappointed, Yang looking proud, and Blake... not really looking like anything out of the ordinary was happening. Ozpin then said, "It has come to my attention that it is nearing curfew, and we all have classes tomorrow. I would suggest you make your way to your rooms. First years, your room number will be sent to your scrolls. Use your scrolls to unlock your door, and please do remember that not only are you to be spending at least four years in that room, but you share with at least three others." with that, Ozpin stepped down to go and do whatever it was he does in his spare time.

Wolf and he rest of his teammates left for their dorm, lead by Jaune. After nearly getting lost right at the beginning, they made their way without much incident. Jaune opened their door, and the rest of the team followed him in. Wolf just about followed, when he heared a "WAIT!" come from the other end of the hall. Wolf paused and looked back, only to see Yang pulling Ruby ahead of Blake and Wiess, much to the latters annoyance. Yang stopped right in front of Wolf and said, "I didn't get a chance to thank you for saving my sister." Ruby looked to be almost beet red by this point, rivaling her cape. "Oh, uh, it wasn't much." Wolf replied. "I'm sure if someone else was given the chance they'd to the same." They stood their awkwardly for a second, until Jaune noticed who was out there. "Hey, Ruby! Who would have guessed we would be team leaders?" "Heh, not me for sure!" Ruby looked around for a moment, before realizing something. "Hey, we areright next to each other!" "Really? Cool! Hey, Ruby, why don't you show Wolf your scythe?" "I've seen it, and I must say, it was pretty cool how you decapitated that Nevermore with it." Wolf interjected. Ruby immediately forgot about being embarrassed and exclaimed, "I know right? I thought it looked so cool, I was like, HWAHH, YAH, and the Nevermore just fell apart! It was a great way to come back from nearly... dying..." Ruby went back to embarrassment after she brought up the scorpion thing. "T-thanks, by the way" she added. "No worries, Ruby. I'm sure someone else would've helped given the chance." Wiess chose that moment to pop back in, saying, "Hurry up! We need to pick bunks and set our stuff down, and Blake is insisting we have everyone there for it!" Wiess stormed off, and Yang said, "We shuld probably head over Ruby." "Y-yeah, I suppose so. Well, Wolf, it was nice meeting you!" Ruby reached our her hand for a high-five, for which Wolf obliged. "Yeah, it was nice to meet you two as well. Hopefully we'll have more chances to hang out." Jaune added, "Yeah! With he nine of us, we'd be pretty much unstoppable!" "Well, Bye!" Ruby said, her and Yang walking into their room. Jaune and Wolf turned into theirs, before Jaune looked in to Nora jumping on the bed with Ren trying to calm her down and remembered why he went out in the first place to look for Wolf. "Ah, right! So, um, we all claimed beds, but, uhh, there's only four." Wolf looked, and there were indeed only four beds. Pyrrah, just noticing the problem, said, "I, uh, suppose I could sleep on the floor or share with Nora if you want, Wolf." Wolf immediately said, "Oh, nononono, that's not needed. I'll take the floor, so long as you guys can pass me a blanket or two. I don't want to impose on any of your sleep, and either the bed or the floor won't make a difference for me." Nora said, "Why don't you share with one of us?" "I tend to move a lot in my sleep, so unless you want that, I'd say no. Besides, you four are partners." Ren and Jaune tried to add something else, but Wolf just interrupted them saying, "I'm going to take the floor because I'm not sure I want to fall on my head in the middle of the night. Let's just leave it at that." The others finally gave in, and each contributed a blanket. They all went to bed, and just before Wolf fell asleep, he thought,

'If they knew what I was, would they treat me so kindly?'

This is my first upload, and my first attempt writing like this. I do have a general plan, but that could easily change if the right suggestions are made. That being said, I don't need to be reminded multiple times on what I could do in the future, and I have 0 plans to do a lemon (my friends won't let that go if they found this lol). I would much appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, and any grammatical errors pointed out wouldn't hurt. I have no guarantee on regular updates, responding to comments, or a consistent chapter size (I'll try my best for this one), as this is meant to be fun for me to put my ideas out, while making it fun for whoever sees this as well. I was inspired to write this after reading 'Wolves who Walk Alone', A Halo/RWBY crossover done by _ (the idea to write this, it's not going to turn into another version of that story) and the song "The Night" by Disturbed. That will make more sense later hopefully.
