Another day of field work was about to begin. Intelligence could not have known it was going to be a really tough and difficult day to deal with.
They had long been investigating a group of drug dealers who trafficked badly cut heroin, passing it off as pure and earning a ton of money.
Several people had died from this new type of drug and others were in hospital in serious condition.
After numerous stalking they had figured out who was in charge of the organization and had planned a raid on his beautiful villa.
They were fully equipped.
Olinsky and Ruzek were on the roof of the building opposite in case of need with sniper rifles aimed at the house, Jay and Hayley were ready to act as were Antonio and Voight and Burgess and Atwater.
The couples were positioned on the sides of the villa.
Jay wasn't at his best that day.
Nothing in particular, just a little tired. What little he had slept had been beset with nightmares. So he had had a not very restful night.
Everyone was in place and at Voight's signal they broke in. The chief was ahead with Antonio. The latter broke down the main door and entered followed by the others who entered through the doors and windows on the various sides of the house.
Little by little groups were created. Delinquents and police fought each other between gunshots and punches.
A criminal, a boy of about 20, taking advantage of a moment of distraction by detective Halstead, managed to get out of the house and escape.
