The orange-brown leaves were falling lightly onto the ground. Swaying in the wind before a soft landing on the sidewalk. Robbie released her hand from his and pulled her close. Kissing the back of her hand before tucking a lock of hair behind her tiny ears. Her Auburn hair floating in the wind.
She smiled brightly at him and he kissed her cheek, her cheeks turning pink as she crinkled her nose and giggled her airy laugh. He tapped her nose and she smiled her one-dimple smile. But sadness still over came them as she looked up at him.
"Promise me things are gonna be better... that our friends will always be friends and that they'll still be together." She said looking down.
"I promise things will get better... but..." she looked up waiting for what he has to say. "I can't promise our friends..." They looked to the parking lot.
Jade inhaled from the cigarette in between her index and middle finger.
"I'll see you later then." Andre said awkwardly and opened his car door.
"Wait." She stopped him, grabbing his forearm. "Even though things didn't work out... I can't help but feel like I need a kiss goodbye." He didn't respond. "I know we'll still be friends but-"
He cut her off with a kiss. He cupped her cheeks, she sighed into the kiss. Before she knew it he was getting in thepassenger side of the car. Jade walked to the sidewalk finishing the last of her cigarette slowly. Fleeing past her was a brunette with two suitcases and a handbag walking to the pearl white Bentley waiting for her. She loaded her things in the trunk of the car except for her handbag.
She had said her goodbyes to Robbie, Cat, Andre and Jade but being Cat she needed one more hug. She hugged her best friend with all she strength she could. Sobbing into her hair before pulling away and Cat swinging their hands like a kid.
"Promise me you'll call."
"Everyday."
"You're my best friend Tor... and I love you so much."
"Com'on. This isn't a goodbye. It's a... It's a see you later." She wiped her face. "But I love you too."
"Best friends today..." Cat smirked holding her pinky finger up.
Tori playfully rolled her eyes. "Tomorrow." She hooked her pinky with hers.
"And always." They hooked their other pinkies on top, leaned in and kissed the other's cheek.
Something they've done since they were five.
Tori breathed wiping her face. Robbie came to Cat's side and gave her side hug, rubbing her arms up and down.
"Where is he?"
"Uh... he's still up there. We talked in private..."
"Is he gonna be okay?" Cat asked with hopeful eyes.
"I hope he will be." She tried to smile.
"Tori, we have to go." Trina said from the drivers seat.
"Okay. See ya Rob." She extended her arms and gave him another hug. "I'm gonna miss you guys."
"We're gonna miss you too. Take care."
"Have fun."
She smiled and opened her door. She looked up, immediately catching his eyes from her window. She got inside and closed the door with a deep breath.
"I'm ready."
Trina smiled and rubbed her shoulder. Jade watched the car begin to drive away and threw her cig on the ground, killing the flame with her boot. She headed back up to her dorm room. She sat on the couch, all of her things were gone. It was like Tori never lived here for the past year. She diverted her eyes to the doorframe of her now, old roommate.
"Hey." She said and stood up.
"Hey." Was the only thing he said before leaving their place and going down to his car.
He sighed once relaxing his head against the headrest.
"She's gonna be okay." André said trying to comfort him.
"That's what I'm afraid of." He started the car and drove off.
Trina nudged Tori's shoulder, had to a couple times before she woke up.
"We're here." She whispered and got out of the car.
Tori yawned, stretching her arms and checking the time, sighing and biting her lip at her lockscreen wallpaper; making a mental note to herself to change it as soon as possible. She got out and took in her surroundings. Trina helped her with her bags and walked into their new home. A new life. A new her.
