This is a short fire emblem story. As the title says, this story is based around Bernadetta. It's pretty much just a short story about Bernadetta getting pranked and harassed.
"Before class ends," Byleth announced, "I have something to say. Flayn is housing a fishing tournament and wants at least three members of our house to join. I have already entered, but the other two will be decided by...drawing lots!"
Bernadetta put her head in her hands as she realised, a 1 in 8 chance of being chosen was upon her, and being chosen was the last thing she wanted to happen.
She looked from behind her book at the professor, waiting for the names to be called.
"The first name is…" Byleth took out a paper from a box and read the name on it, "Caspar. I hope you know how to fish."
Caspar nodded and smiled. "I'll try my best! I bet that we're gonna win!"
Byleth nodded. "And the next and final name is…." The teacher paused for dramatic effect, "Bernadetta."
The purple haired girl groaned and hid behind her textbooks. Hopefully he won't see me…. She thought.
Byleth stared at the girl for a few seconds, then sighed. "Textbooks are not the best way for stealth. Camouflage would be better, or even full gray clothing to blend into the wall."
Edelgard sighed, got up, and moved behind Bernadetta. She grabbed her coller and lifted her up, the smaller girl scrambling for a hold on the ground.
"I would stop moving if I were you. Otherwise, you'll be more than two feet in the air. I think once we reach five," Edelgard said slowly, "Things will get much, much more embarrassing."
Bernadetta paled with the thought and stopped moving. "Please, please put me down." She whispered.
Edelgard complied and set the girl down. After the to-be empress returned to her seat, Byleth continued talking.
"All three of us will be going down to the dock today for the evening classes. The rest of you can do whatever, as long as it's useful." Byleth glared at Linhardt meaningfully, "So no napping."
The green-haired boy nodded slowly, his distaste evident.
Edelgard raised her hand. "Professor, will people be able to switch positions for who is fishing and who is not?"
Byleth nodded. "Yes, but only if both parties are willing."
Petra glanced at Bernadetta. I'm a skilled hunter, so I will give the blackeagles a better chance. I'm sure Bernadetta will want to switch out, but I think we could get some fun from the experience….
"Hey, Bernadetta!" Petra said from a few seats away, "Would you want to switch?"
The purple haired girl nodded. "Yes please! Are there any conditions or anything?"
Petra smiled. "Yup."
Bernadetta gulped. Petra continued talking.
"Because I'm taking your place, it's only fair if you watch. The rest of the classes will be as well, so don't worry about standing out."
Bernadetta gulped. "What if I don't?"
Petra smiled. "Then we will swap out and get so much attention."
Bernadetta paled and nodded her head.
The three contestants, Edelgard, Hubert and Bernadetta were at the docks.
"It is very pleasant here." Byleth stated. "I believe it will be a great day to practice fishing."
"How do you practice?" Edelgard asked, "Isn't it all luck?"
Hubert coughed politely, "Lady Edelgard, I believe some skill is involved. The distance you cast, the bait you use, and the movements you make are all great factors."
Bernadetta took out her bow, (She had just been training) and started to string and unstring it. That's one way to pass the time, Edelgard thought. She had overheard the dialogue between Petra and the purple-haired archer, so she understood why Bernadetta was here.
"Bernadetta." Byleth snapped.
The introverted girl jumped to her feet in shock. "I'm so sorry!" She said, "Please don't kill me!"
The teacher facepalmed. "I'm not going to kill you. I just wanted to let you know that stringing and unstringing your bow over and over is a waste of time."
Bernadetta blushed. "Understood." Hiding her embarrassment, the purple-haired archer sat down by the water, staring into it.
"She really is something else, isn't she." Byleth said idly.
Caspar nodded from the end of the dock. "Yeah."
Edelgard walked onto the dock, the wood creaking underneath the weight of Byleth, Petra, Caspar, Bernadetta and her.
"I have always been fascinated with water." The to-be empress remarked. "Just the way it moves and the life it supports."
Hubert coughed. "Lady Edelgard, I think water is quite simple. It takes the shape of its container and it can also-"
Byleth cut him off. "Water is water. I'm content with that, and you should be as well."
Caspar walked over to the bait bucket that they had-which was near Bernadetta-and put another worm on his hook. Petra glanced at him, then back and Bernadetta, and smiled an evil smile.
Caspar realised what she was saying and pushed Bernadetta in the water.
Bernadetta woke up on the dock, covered in water and wrapped in a rough blanket.
"What happened?" She asked, dazed.
Byleth crossed his arms and glared at Caspar. "Caspar pushed you in."
Bernadetta thn realised that her clothes were soaked, and she was dressed in her white student uniform. Not good.
"Room." She muttered. "Please."
Byleth gestured to Edelgard. "Edelgard, please take Bernadetta to her room. Caspar and I need to have a talk."
Edelgard nodded and picked up Bernadetta, carrying her in fireman style. She used the towel to cover the archer waist-down, just because it was a common decency.
After they both arrived in Bernadetta's room, Edelgard set her friend down. "Give me a sec." She stated. "I need to get something from my room."
Edelgard returned later with an armful of clothes. "These are for you. Give them back to me once your other clothes have dried."
Bernadetta gave her thanks and took the clothes. "Thank you very much." She said meekly, "I will wash and return them once I'm done."
Edelgard smiled. "Good. If I find one rip or tear, you will have to sew it back." The to-be empress then left, closing the door to Bernadetta could change.
The female archer changed, even using the small mirror in her room to admire the clothes. She was now dressed in a black and red skirt, grey tights, a student shirt that was a bit too tight, and finally red gloves. It was overall a nice look, and it didn't stand out too much.
Bernadetta took out a comb and brushed her hair, then yelped when she looked at the water clock in her room.
"Ah!" She yelled. "My library books are overdue!"
