I know I have 2 HTTYD stories in progress, but I had to write this and delay my 2 HTTYD and future HTTYD stories due to that. I had this idea 8 days after I've been Onward and I've tell in love with that movie.
The city shone directly to expectations. Elections approached and so the local residents burned by tension which party in the government will win.
It was shortly after the magic returned to the lives of the inhabitants of the New Mushroomton.
It could be said that this tradition of ancestors brought life back to the monotonous city.
Some were born with the gift of magic, others were not. Even so, it didn't stop people from helping each other or helping others to awaken their magic abilities.
It was simply a paradise.
For 16 years old Ian Lightfoot a lot of things have changed since he found he is a wizard himself.
He was no longer afraid of rejection in society, he was part of it, even though it was only a high school group so far.
He and his brother Barley understood each other more, and as siblings they had more in common than they seemed at first glance. It is not said for nothing that siblings are said to be similar as an egg to egg.
He was looking forward to school, he was no longer alone.
When he left school after the end of teaching, his older brother waiting for him with his van in front of the school building.
"How did you succeed today in school bro?" Barley asked with his typical happy tone as his younger brother came to him.
"Okay, and you? The school wants to start organizing historically thematic events." Ian said and asked as he put his backpack to the van and sit in with his older brother.
"Are you kidding me?"
"No, I don't do, they really want to start organizing."
Barley with very enthusiasm had to laugh cheerfully.
"Finally, they realized that history and tradition depends! Finally it happened!"
But Barley then calmed down, stopped and asked Ian.
"Do you want to go on the ground to home or fly?"
"You know what. Fly." Ian said with a smile on his face and his older brother was still shining with happiness.
"Aloft Elevar!"
The voice of the younger of brothers came in the van and in a while the car was driving in the air above the city.
Ian was looking from the window at the city during the ride in the sky while his older brother turned on one of the nordic pagan-tuned metal CDs.
At almost every step, the electoral posters were posted or elsewhere were directly billboards with parties and parliamentary candidates.
Barley during the ride noticed how his younger brother was looking at them.
"Today in the evening, they will publish the results. I've already voted and mom too."
Ian turned. He was at the moment looking at the election billboard of the new Party for Equality and Prosperity
where one of the candidates was one young blond female cyclop dressed in a formal on the billboard with quote "We will provide equality together to all."
"And who you and mom voted?" Ian then immediately asked after he turned at Barley and stopped looking from the window.
"The Party for Tradition and Freedom- They call themselves Traditionalists- that was created after the magic returned to our lives. I don't believe these progressives. I can't imagine that someone wanted to took the magic from us after the magic just returned and people finally realized that it is not just fairy tales and that these abilities people inherit after their ancestors."
Ian again turned his view at the city down.
"When you will be 18, you'll be able to vote too." Barley said and noticed how Ian was again silently watching the city from the window.
"I wonder what Dad would say on this everything. Still now there is still magic returning back to the world."
Barley nudged his younger sibling.
"He would be very proud of us two. Too bad I didn't know it would have such an impact, when I had the chance to see him for the last. Do you know that the party for magic what I told you about was created here in the city?"
Ian's mood immediately changed as he heard this.
"The political party was actually created here?" He asked his older brother with a kinda confused tone.
"Yes, and the rest of the state considered it as a joke. People took various events and petitions to get it up, even people from the rest of the state contribute to this, probably because they wanted to see the party they considered as a joke in politics."
"This is enough, I am not into politics." Ian said.
"Final stop is here Sir Ian Lightfoot." Barley said with a majestic tone to Ian as he parked with the van at the home and the levitating spell lost its effects.
Ian took his backpack and left the car with Barley. Family's pet dragon Blazey was not waiting on anything and immediately went to welcome both of two siblings as they returned.
"Calm down Blazey, of course me and Ian are okay." Barley said as the pet dragon was running and jumping around him and Ian trying to lick them both on faces as a dog.
Blazey calmed down a little and started playing with one of his toys which were here outside on the grass at the house.
It were 3 months since things changed and one wouldn't even know that it was a quarter of the year.
"Mom, me and Barley are back!" Ian said as he opened the door to the suburban house and as he had on his back his backpack.
As both brothers went inside, Blazey swiftney and quickly stretched through the opened door in. The dragon with the toy in its mouth jumped and ran across the wooden floor to the mother of the two brothers.
Laurel, their mom was at the moment was working with cooking in the kitchen.
"I'm glad you are both back boys! How did you do today?"
"I was fine at school." Ian said and he was about to head to his room.
"Do you know that the historical reconstruction of the battle about the city was the Middle Ages? I would like to find a job, earn money on costume and attend." Barley said and as he was looking on his board game Quests of Yore which was still on the table in the kitchen after a try of to do a family evening by playing board games "Metal music will be there. I'd like to be guitarist there."
"And what job do you want to find? This you didn't tell me in the car." Ian asked his older brother, after he stopped heading helding his backpack to his room, as he heard the sentence.
"Something with music and history."
"This will be hard sweetheart." Laurel said as she heard her older son's reply.
"Why should it? After all, are important abilities, right?" Barley replied kinda confused.
"That is, yes, but they will want someone qualified if you wanted to continue. I wondered if you thought of studying of what makes you happy to college."
Ian, standing at the wall, and helding his backpack watched the situation and Blazey came to him.
"College is a waste of time. I don't even need a degree to protect the history, and when it comes to music, I can learn it in my free time or admire to abbreviated study on the manufacturer of musical instruments. I don't need college to happiness."
This was one of the things that lately solving with his older brother due to his upcoming graduation, and because Ian didn't want to see tension at home due to this, he stepped in.
"Barley, when it makes you happy- What if you had they trained you here for the job, and you will earn money the costume in some historical-metal shop?"
Barley at that moment looked like as if the magic which hitted him right now was the happiness itself. He immediately looked at his younger brother.
"This is a brilliant idea. I would learn to produce replicas, and I would earn money on the armor and axe."
He immediately began to teasing his little brother, but he stopped.
"And I know where I could work.." Barley said, but then, he again headed to the door with the intention to be in his van and before he left, he said "Perhaps they like to accept a student for a part time job and enthusiast in one."
There was silence in the room for a while.
"Well, Mom, I should probably go to learn." Ian said and was again heading into his room, but before he left he asked "Where's Bronco?"
"Before you you both returned, they called him back to work because of some troublemakers."
"I'm just going to learn now. If anything I am in my room."
In his room, he put the backpack on the ground, sat down to the table and started pulling out textbooks and workbooks. He lighted the lamp which was on his desk.
After a moment of doing homework, he was suddenly overwhelmed curiosity by about what happened 3 months ago.
After all, it was a bullshit that only Wizard Stuff to stay after Dad. Sure, there had to stay more remembrances after Dad. When he realized at that moment that he wants to know much more about Dad, his homework and learning was put aside.
He decided to go on the attic to find out more. It was quietly possible that mom knows more about it, but she doesn't want to say anything. So he finds it himself.
He took his cell phone with him to use it as a flashlight.
Getting up wasn't the problem, but find things that belonged to the father, that already. He on his mobile phone flashlight and started looking for.
Finally, after more than half an hour of the search, he got to a difficult steel box of what was closed well.
At that moment he was sorry that he can't yet use a spell on the opening.
He will have to open it differently.
He carried the box to his room and locked the attic. He sat on the bed for a moment, looking at the steel box. He wiped the dust with his hands. The box was quite heavy, so he wondered what was inside. He got the idea and decided to hide the box before telling anyone.
He went downstairs and headed for his older sibling's van. To his surprise, the van didn't go anywhere, it was still parked in front of the house. When he arrived at the van, there was noisy music. Direct historical death metal.
He knocked on the car.
"Barley, Barley!" He raised his voice over the metal so his older brother could hear him during knocking.
The doors opened.
"I need to borrow something from you." Ian said and his older brother quieted the music as he saw him.
"What would you need Ian?" He asked looking at him, but then continued showing him then mail he got on his phone "I received an e-mail from them today, they accepted me as an artistic blacksmith."
"I need something to open. I thought you'd have something like this with you."
Barley put down his phone and thought for a moment.
"Did we try the opening spell?"
"I can't do it yet, but it would be too noisy. You don't have a quieter option Barley?"
"Well, there's still a crowbar or an ordinary paper clip. What do you need it for?"
"I need to open something and do not disturb mom. I think the paper clip will be enough for me before I'll learn the spell."
His brother threw a small steel clip into his hand and Ian caught it.
"Thank you Barley." Ian thanked his older brother helding the small paper clip, so his older brother spoke "I'm going to visit the local historical club at the local castle. Today they are holding a meeting about the battle that happened here and I must not miss it. Please tell Mom not to worry if I wander long and tell her about this please."
"I will." Ian said, looking at the steel paper clip in his hands, but then again looking at Barley.
But as he looked back, so he heard the start of the engine and watched as his older brother drove away.
So he decided to return to the room and reveal what the metal box hides. But barely as he stepped into his room, Blazey ran to him again.
"Now I need peace." He said, but the pet dragon dropped the toy he had in a snout.
"So well, so once." He said and he took the toy from the ground, threw it to the corridor and closed doors to his room.
He pulled the clip out of his pocket and took the steel box from ground under the bed.
He put the box on the bed and created a lockpick from the paper clip.
From the beginning, the places were annoyed because he knew that if lockpick will broke in the lock, it will only be able to use some noisier tool.
Finally, he just managed to open it and the dusty steel crate opened.
But the first thing which jumped at him was a piece of paper on which the symbol of magical stone was in the background of cross swords over which the circle was in which words were written in the language in which spells were.
He didn't understand any word of the only sentence that was written here.
He didn't say anything himself. He was too confused.
He put the paper next to the box and at that moment it gave him a look of things that were here.
There were also photos of his dead father. But it were not in the picture which he had about him until he had seen the photos.
The first photo was his father in the group of other elves. But not just like. They all had different Nordic and localy medieval tuned t-shirts and a few of them holding a colorful flag with a symbol that saw on the paper on a green background. They were all tactically equipment. They had bulletproof and tactical vests, pads, gloves and all kept firearms, including Wilden, his dead father. They also had wizard stuff at the same photo.
"What...?" He sighed to himself as he saw the photo where his father was.
On the other photo, it was again the same group, but this time, with the difference that there were other kinds of population, whether for example, a kentaur, cyclops, satyr or a few fairies.
In front of the photo stood in the front of the armed group another young elf with a smile on his face, while waving with the flag.
The Elf had unlike his father light stubble, but he was a little more powerful than his father.
Ian looked at an another photo. His father was on the photo with the elf from the second photo, standing in front of the group and held the flag. Both were wearing clothes with t-shirts showing the wizards and had gray caps on their heads. From the photo it could be seen that his father was apparently a friend with this unknown man. Both on the photo stood ahead of one of the caves and his father held a can with lager in his hand. Both of them had to be about 25 years old at the photo shooting time.
Then in the crate, however, was also the silver necklace in the shape of the group with the orange stone reminding Phoenix Stone, and the ring showing the wizard symbol he did not see in life.
At both jewelry were also the letters and it was so tempting to read them, but he had to keep himself because it was may too soon.
He found one card there. Apparently, it was more traditionally tuned territorial army if something happened in the city and his father was apparently a member as the group's card confirmed. In short, a group of civilians ready to fight by the side of the police and the army if something happened.
Jewelry - apparently made on a commission in one smithy by the founder Territorial Army apparently to indicate that a person belonging to this trained group belongs, it was simply something like a business card of the owner of the army. It was written on a small papers at it.
In the next photo, on the photo there were the Territorial Army members together with police and soldiers hand in hand, on duty in one of the dangerous situations what happened before he was born.
His father was dressed in tactical with an offensive rifle in his hand and holding a weapon of one policeman-satyr there on his side. At that photo there together with the Ranger of the Act stood in front of the burning building on the street.
On the photo was written something from behind and he decided to read it. It was a photo of the time when the situation in the city was very tense, so that police officers and soldiers started working with the unprofessionals like his Dad, Wilden.
There was also a list of spell that apparently used ancestors in conflicts. Probably apparently because it was probably a bunch of magicians in the territorial army though the other people have seen them as fools due to this.
But it was still tempting to read at least one of the letters.
He was never in anything like where his father was and his dad was an ordinary accountant. Perhaps ordinary accountants counting balances, assets and liabilities, deficiencies, profits and costs, but in any case extraordinary.
Wizard, member of the territorial army, it would not say about a classic accountant.
The desire to know more about the dad grew up more thanks to this. He wanted to pull out one of the letters which was in the box and read it.
But then he noticed at that moment that the other side of the card was scrutinized by that the group was disbanded.
It knocked out all the his joy at that moment.
He a little bit actually hoped that he would have the chance to meet the people who were there with him, and to learn more about his combative side. The past adventure that caused people to live again with traditions wasn't enough at finding more about Dad.
But the finding that the group was disbanded, especially when they were obviously other magicians, before people started to return to magic returning, which was making all this more interesting, was making it even a bigger disappointment.
And in addition to the compound flag of that group and a yellow stone necklace as a talisman there were other letters, but the young man decided to go return the things back to the box and hide everything under the bed..
But one question remained in his head. Who was the man who was his father's friend? Why did the group disband? What was the father's life like before the founding of the family and his death? So many questions and so few answers.
Later, when he was done with his homework, television news with all tensions about the results of the parliamentary election began.
But Ian was then caught by Colt who just returned from the service. He didn't no longer see him like an annoying mom's boyfriend, but a bit like a uncle or stepfather.
"How did you succeed today in school, young?" He asked him as he saw him after he went to the house and sligthly nudged Ian.
Ian smiled and responded while he took his portion of the dinner.
"Amazingly."
"In a moment, the results of elections will be announced, guys. Remember to come to watch." Laurel announced.
Blazey used that sofa was empty and lan went here.
He decided to ask his mother inconspicuously in hope he will find something more.
"Mom, was Dad in the local territorial army from here?"
"He wasn't, why do you ask?"
He had a reply from his mom, which he expected.
"It just occurred to me, when he was interested in a lot of things."
"You are still curious a lot, that must be said. But it is possible that your dad was just such a hero."
"I still don't know much about him, so I think about everything he could be."
His mom hugged him and said "Whatever he was, he was a hero even without magic and dad of my children - you and Barley."
Ian had at that moment a smile on his face as he heard this, but still hadn't told her about what he had found on the attic. A part of his father's life story.
Ian turned for a moment looking at his mother after she announced this, wanting to respond to her again, now knowing he is the only one who know that his father was in the territorial army and had training, but Colt spoke to him again.
"Ian, have you ever thought to aim at the future to work at the police?"
Ian at that moment confusedly turned to his stepdad- a strong centaur.
"Working at the Police? Never."
"People still learn magic and try to wake it in ourselves, even those don't have talent like you. A specialist as you would tossed at the police. I know it is recently what you discovered it in yourself, but there is only a matter of time until criminals starts using magic. And security forces must adapt."
"Barley is a real specialist here. I don't even know all the spells yet. If it should work, so even Barley would have to work for you."
But before Colt would respond, they both heard Laurel's voice:
"They are already announcing results, come to see."
Both left and headed for the living room to see the News. Blazey immediately left the couch as she saw her owners coming.
Ian sat on the sofa next to his mom and started stroking Blazey, as she climbed on his lap. Bronco was standing and watching the TV.
There was silence at the moment in the house. Tension was high.
After a short transmission from the capital, the number of votes in percentages for individual sides came to the scene for individual sides as the results of the elections.
Barley was at that time returning from the meeting of the historical club which took place in one of the castles of this region.
He had the radio turned on. But now, instead of metal, he had turned on a station that was telling people the news.
"Parliamentary elections won the Party for Equality and Prosperity-"
At that moment, however, a nineteen-year-old boy almost crashed with a car, while driving with his van GWNIVER 2 as he heard the news.
"What!?" Barley said with a confused tone aloud for himself after that almost avoided an accident.
"Calm down yourself Barley, if this wasn't a joke and the party won, nothing bad will happen.. nothing bad will happen.. I will live in a socially democratic country, it won't be bad.." He said for himself while turning the van to get back on the road.
"... It won't be bad."
