It was a few weeks after the war ended that Percy and Annabeth were housesitting for Sally and Paul while they were out on tour showcasing Sally's new book. The two teenagers chose to make it a relaxing weekend - spending time together alone from the craziness of Tartarus, Gaea, and the Giants. They spent the morning playing various board games including Risk and Monopoly. Percy was proud to admit that he beat Annabeth at Monopoly, buying properties that were very likely to be landed on throughout the game, and soon he had Annabeth paying him rent on almost every turn while Annabeth beat him at Risk. He wasn't going to tell her that he felt that she won because of the cards she started out with.
After some Chinese takeout from a restaurant nearby, Percy and Annabeth snuggled on the couch and began perusing different shows on Netflix. They agreed that they would save watching a movie and eating popcorn for the night. Looking at the trending shows sections, Annabeth exclaimed "Percy look! We have to watch Daredevil!"
As he looked over at Annabeth, Percy thought to himself She looks so beautiful. "Sure thing Wise Girl", he whispered softly. Ultimately, it was a great decision to watch Daredevil as Annabeth spent a good amount of time hiding her face in Percy's shoulder as a result of the multiple violent fight scenes. The time seemed to fly by until it had been a couple of hours later in the afternoon. Percy gently disentangled himself from Annabeth so that she could keep sleeping while he took a stretch in the kitchen. Deciding that this would a good time to get some groceries, he wrote a short note telling Annabeth he'd be back in a little while. Percy took his keys and wallet and quickly made his way to the car. En route to the grocery market, Percy idly noticed multiple tattoo parlors, restaurants, and other shops lining the narrow streets. A crazy idea started forming in his head and he promised to visit one of the tattoo parlors on his way back from the supermarket. Parking his car in the parking lot, Percy grabbed a nearby cart and made his way inside. He quickly grabbed multiple snacks, fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, as well as some sodas for dinner and movie night. Making his way back to the car after paying for his items, Percy placed the bagged items in the trunk and set directions to the nearest, decent-looking tattoo parlor.
Arriving at his destination, Percy glanced at his tattooed right wrist - a trident, followed by SPQR, with a single horizontal line underneath. Suddenly, he knew exactly what kind of design he wanted to get. He got out of his car and locked his car. Percy walked towards the parlor, taking a deep breath as he opened the door. He was greeted with a burly, heavily tattooed man who was adding a beautiful cherry tree design on a young woman. The man looked up as the bell chimed. He spotted Percy and said "Be right with you. Please take a seat." And so Percy took a seat on a leather chair in the reception area and flicked through pages of a random magazine while he waited. Soon the young woman was exiting the store and Percy closed the magazine and stood up. He told the store owner that he wanted to add a design to his original tattoo and the burly man was happy to comply. Percy left the parlor roughly half an hour later thanking the gods that the man worked fast. Annabeth would kill him if he didn't get home quickly. Fortunately, there wasn't much traffic on the road and he was able to arrive home within 15 minutes.
Annabeth was awake when Percy opened the door to the apartment, bringing in bags of groceries. He was greeted with a pacing Annabeth looking worriedly in his direction until her eyes met his and her shoulders instantly sagged in relief. Percy barely had time to drop all the bags in the kitchen before he felt Annabeth jumping onto his back. He steadied her before she murmured "I was so worried Seaweed Brain. You were gone for so long."
Percy's heart ached that she was so concerned. He whispered breathily "I'm so sorry to have worried you. I just had to make a quick pitstop that took a little longer than expected." Percy gently lowered Annabeth to the ground before lifting her onto the counter. She giggled. He gave her a quick but passionate kiss before he asked "Can you help me put everything away?" She nodded and the two quickly put everything in their designated cabinets and the fruits and vegetables into the fridge. As they made their way back to the couch, Percy unpaused where they last stopped and sat next to Annabeth before deciding to lay his head on her lap instead. She soon began to thread her hands through his unruly dark black hair as Percy loved. Before long, Annabeth saw an unfamiliar part of Percy's tattoo that she'd never seen before. Annabeth had to investigate and grabbed his wrist with one hand. When she saw that the new addition was a beautiful owl holding the trident with a feathered wing, she audibly gasped and brought her hands to her mouth. Annabeth's gasp caused Percy to pause the show and turn his body so he was looking up right at her. "Do you like it?" he asked her nervously.
Tears started welling in her eyes and she vigorously nodded yes over and over again. Annabeth then proceeded to kiss every single inch of his face exclaiming that he was the sweetest person ever. The show long forgotten, Percy and Annabeth took to kissing each other with a fiery passion.
-Break-
The next time the couple went to the beach, Annabeth was also sporting a secret tattoo of an owl and trident that she hadn't the chance to reveal to Percy yet. This was the perfect opportunity she thought. Annabeth took off her Camp Half-Blood shirt once they had finished setting up, giving Percy a perfect view of her bikini-clad back. She turned her head slightly to look back at him and smirked to see her boyfriend with his jaw completely dropped. Annabeth decided that his reaction made getting her tattoo that much more worth it. Her tattoo was influenced by the US Navy SEAL insignia - a gold eagle holding a trident and pistol in its talons wrapped around an anchor. Annabeth's design was only slightly altered with an owl holding a trident in its beak with its body wrapped around a miniature Empire State Building placed near her left shoulder. "You like?" she teased. But she did not expect him to glide his finger over her tattoo, causing pleasant shivers to spread all over her body.
"I love you so much Annabeth", Percy whispered as he hugged her from behind.
She responded "I love you so much Percy" as she leaned her body more into him. Annabeth suddenly realized that the shared tattoos that the couple now had in common created another permanent bond between them just like the gray streaks that they had received in California a few years prior. With that, Percy picked up Annabeth in a bridal style and carried her into the ocean where Percy created another bubble and they recreated the best underwater kiss for the second time, just this time it was without the audience of their campmates, something that deeply pleased them both.
