Pushing my way through the throng of loud chattering students, I made it to my locker. Just as I was pulling out my Math book, the locker door was slammed shut and barely got my hand out in time.
"Hey! Watch out!" I yelled at the asshole who nearly broke my fingers. Kunghe just laughed as he shoved me back into the locker.
"Whatcha gonna do about it?" I stood up straight and glared at him but he just shoved me back into the hard metal lockers once again. All the air escaped my lungs and I struggled to take in a breath. "That's what I thought, bitch. Pathetic." He hissed as he walked away getting a high-five from one of his idiot friends who had stood by through the whole thing.
"I hate high school." I muttered to myself as I rubbed my sore chest and tried to catch my breath. I grabbed my bag and headed to class.
Halfway there, I was attacked by a blue-haired boy with way too much energy.
"Tae, get off me!" I tried to push him off but he wrapped his arms and legs around me and held on like a little koala.
"But I love my Chim Chim so much."
"I love you, too, but I already had a rough morning and I need you to let me go!" Tae huffed, but slid off me.
"Fine. I guess I'll just have to collect my hugs later." His voice sounded annoyed but I knew he was just messing around. "Well, are you gonna tell me what happened and why you're so pissy this morning?"
"It's nothing. I just had another run in with Kunghe. I swear that guy is a bigger douchebag every day."
"Ugh! I hate that guy." His mouth curled in disgust at the sound of his name.
Speaking of people I hate. There's the worst of them all. He gestured down the hall to a pale boy dressed all in black walking our way. Min Yoongi. I'd heard this story a hundred times.
"Seriously, you're still hung up on that? It was like ten years ago."
Taehyung looked at me with exaggerated offense. "Um, excuse me it was five years ago and people still bring it up."
"Yeah, you!"
"Do you know how many girls have turned me down because of that day? It was a lot."
"Tae, you're gay."
"They didn't know that!" I scoffed at the idea.
"Please, You just tripped in the cafeteria. It's not the end of the world. It happens."
"It was traumatic!" He whined as we entered our Biology class. "He laughed at me as I sat there covered in food and chocolate milk and called me a little bitch in front of the whole class because HE made me cry. Plus, I'm pretty sure he tripped me to begin with."
"Yeah, yeah. I know. He's the devil. He ruined your life. Without him you would have been cool and ruled the school." I said sarcastically. Tae shot me a dirty look as he took his seat next to me.
"You're the worst. Why am I even friends with you?" He muttered darkly.
"Because you looove me. And I bring you snacks and let you copy my homework." As I said that, I pulled the homework out of my bag.
"Homework? Oh shit. Chim can I-" I cut him off as I slid the paper over to him. He smiled and frantically started copying it down in his notebook.
I diligently took notes throughout the class knowing Tae would end up needing to borrow them because there was no way he was paying attention. I looked up confused when the teacher wrapped up the lecture fifteen minutes before class ended.
"Okay everyone! Get with your project partner and start making plans for your presentation."
Project partner?
I glanced over at Tae who was gathering up his books that were never even opened.
"Project?! What project?" I whispered to him.
"Oh right! You were out on Friday. We have a semester project and we picked project partners."
"And you picked me right?" I asked knowing already that I wouldn't be that lucky.
"Oh um… well you weren't here. And there were an even number of people and Jungkook asked if I would be his partner." He gestured over to the dark-haired boy across the room who looked up and gave us a small bunny smile as he waved shyly.
"Great." I muttered looking around and raising my hand for the teacher's attention. "Mrs. Kang? I was out on Friday and don't have a partner." Maybe she would let me join Tae and Jungkook. Maybe then they will actually pass.
"Oh that's right. You can be partners with Min Yoongi. He was out that day too."
I looked at Tae with wide eyes. He just quietly mouthed an "I'm sorry."
Yoongi sat in the very back of the classroom. I turned around to see him leaned over his desk with his chin resting on his folded arms. He was staring directly at me and his expressionless eyes pierced into my soul. I gulped.
Speak of the devil and the devil will appear.
