The story bellow is based both on another fanfic i read and the two final episodes from season 14, however, it doesm´t follow any storyline.

Instead, it´s one of those rewriting episodes i like to write imagining if Julia and William were married since the start of the show and for this story, i chose to rewrite 'The Black Hand' (4x09)

As for the tittle, its a joke, since the 'throne' in question here is the detective´s love, having two women disputing it (both in this story and the real episode.

Hope you enjoy.

Ruth Green thanks for the fixes.

GAME OF THRONES

When Julia Ogden Murdoch entered the station that afternoon with the postmortem results on hand, and saw her husband hugging another woman, she didn't say anything, didn't make a scandal out of it or even pretend to cry, she just simply put the files on a constable´s desk and rushed back to the morgue in silence.

A few hours later then, when William join her to lunch, she remained unspeaking, 'till her husband asked what was happening. She cleared her throat and without warning, asked him who was the woman he was hugging on his office.

''Woman?'' he asked confused.

''Yes William, a woman, you were hugging her, who is she?'' Julia asked with a frown.

''Oh Julia…'' William put down his lunch. ''That is Anna Fulford, the woman who helped me while I was in Bristol, I told you about her,'' he said and Julia nodded.

''Please William, don´t make me remember that horrible week,'' she said. ''I was desperate, when you went missing I…'' Julia took a deep breath and shook her head. ''Well, what does she want?''

''She came to me saying her fiancé went missing. They were going to the Niagara and when he went missing, and she said I was the first person she thought could help.''

''Oh…'' suddenly the realization came upon Julia and she placed a hand on William´s arm. ''William, the body on the train, he can be Ms. Fulford´s fiancé,'' she explained.

''Oh God,'' William lowered his eyes. ''Julia, I… I must go. I need to call Anna Fulford back and we will meet you at the morgue, all right?'' her husband asked, and she just nodded.

Julia of course remained professional when William came with Anna Fulford to the morgue so she could identify the body. Once she did however, Julia couldn't help but be relieved that the dead person wasn't the fiancé in question. After all, it meant that this Anna really wasn't after her William.

As the case went on and said fiancé was really found dead, Julia got worried. Still, When William came to her, telling her he needed to find a place for Anna Fulford be safe, Julia came up with an idea.

''Let me help you with it, William.'' Julia simply said and in response William refused.

''No Julia, it can be dangerous,'' he started. ''Anna Fulford is just a person in danger that as a detective, I need to protect… but talking as a husband… If something happens to you…''

''Oh William, I'm not going to run after the bandits,'' she cut him out. ''I will simply rent a room in a boarding house with someone else´s name and tell Anna Fulford to stay there, till you finish the case.''

''But…'' William tried to protest, but Julia kissed him.

''Don´t worry, I'm just trying to help my husband solve the case,'' she said. ''Besides, we have a lot to talk about,'' Julia muttered under her breath without her husband noticed.

As usual, Det Murdoch solved the case. It happened that a gang named the Black Hand was after Anna Fulford and her fiancé and thanks to Anna Fulford herself, he and the police station managed to arrest one of the gang members.

Meanwhile of course, Julia managed to keep Anna Fulford safe until that night when she insisted in help William and as promised, Julia and her talk about a lot of things, from Bristol to Toronto, how Anna met the fiancé and how Julia met William and of course, the doctor made sure to every time, mention how she loved her husband and how the detective made everything to her as well.

"Miss Fulford," Julia said at last. "Afternoon. My husband and I are deeply sorry for what happened to your fiancé. We also wanted you to know we have rented out a room for you while we are investigating his murder."

"Oh, I don't want to be a bother," Anna said. "It shouldn't be necessary for you to waste your money."

"It's not a waste. It was my husband's idea," Julia said to see if Anna would change her mind.

"Well if it was Detective Murdoch's idea then, I appreciate it thank you."

''It's the least we can do, after saving William in Bristol. And thanks to that, he is now back to me,'' Julia said before leaving.

With the case closed and Anna Fulford finally free to leave Toronto, Det William Murdoch decided to take the afternoon off, to spend with his wife. This way after a nice lunch, the couple sat down in their living room to read and talk, when curiosity took the best of the older detective. He decided to ask his wife what she had talked about with Ms. Fulford; after all, the young woman couldn't stop laughing during their goodbyes.

''It was nothing,'' Julia replied putting the newspaper and her reading glasses down.

''Well, Anna Fulford was a bit eager to leave and she couldn't stop laughing while talking to me,'' William replied. ''So, tell me, what did you talk about?''

''Oh William, stop being a gossip, you old man!'' Julia exclaimed. ''We talked about nothing important. I just told her how happy we are, I also thank her for helping you come back to me. And how much an old man you can be some time,'' she said with a smirk.

''Julia...'' William said a bit embarrassed when Julia put her glasses back and resume her reading. ''Well, actually, I can´t complain, we make quite a pair you and me.''

''What you mean?'' Julia asked, staring at him as he laugh.

''Well, we are even, if I'm quite the old man, you are quite an old woman, reading with these glasses…. But don´t worry, you are my old woman, and nothing will rip us apart.'' William laughed.

Of course, that comment made a book fly to his head and earned him a weekend at the couch. Still, their love grew strong as ever and no one ever dared to come between them, as they loved each other unconditionally.
