This is a one-shot about Cameron realizing who he can trust and who he should not trust. He is taking his anger out on everyone who loves him, because he truly believes that Jason killed Franco. He needs to come to terms with his anger and put it where it belongs. There needs to be a way to funnel his rage so he can learn to trust and love again. I do not own the characters; they belong to ABC and General Hospital.
Cam is in a place where he never thought he would be, and it is scaring him. His family and friends cannot seem to reach him, and they are at their breaking point. When Franco first came into Cameron Webber's life, he could not stand the man. He knew of all the bad things that he had done and wondered why everyone was treating him like he was okay, but just had a bad past.
Cam always wanted to do right, but sometimes he went about it the wrong way. He got that naturally from both his father and mother. His father died before he was born and so Cam never had a true father figure. Franco became the father that he had always wanted and needed. He knew that Franco truly cared about him and would do anything for him and his family. Franco's murder was not expected, and it hit the family very hard. Jake's father Jason was being blamed for the murder and Cameron could not control the rage he felt about someone he trusted could do something like that.
It was a month after Franco was murdered when all of Cameron's emotions were too much for the teenager to handle. He lashed out at everyone including his mother and younger brother. He took his mother's keys without her permission and took off in her car. He tried to get all the bad feelings out and speeding was his way of doing it. It was dark and started to rain. Cameron was going too fast and missed the curve. The car went over the side and hit a tree.
Elizabeth realized that her son had taken her car and called the police. They were able to find him by the GPS app on Elizabeth's phone. Cam was badly hurt and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Elizabeth called Laura up to tell her about Cameron. Laura told her that she would pick up Jake and Aiden and bring them to the hospital. When Laura got her grandsons to the hospital the helicopter with Cameron was already there. Elizabeth was with him in the emergency room.
Cameron was in a coma and the doctors were not sure if he was going to make it. They said if Cam made it through the next twenty-four hours, then he should be alright. Elizabeth went into the chapel to pray for her oldest son. "Laura, can you take Jake and Aiden home with you tonight. Cameron is going into surgery and it could last all night. I need to stay here for him. I want to thank you for all that you have done for us."
Jake and Aiden wanted to stay, but they could see that their mother needed some time alone. They gave their mother a hug and kiss before they left with their grandmother. "I will say a prayer for you and Cameron. He will be alright, because he has youth on his side. We will be back in the morning. Don't worry about anything."
Cameron was in a coma when he felt himself leave his body. He was greeted by Franco, Zander and his Aunt Emily. The three of them had their work cut out for them, because they needed to show Cameron how destructive his anger has been to himself and those that he loves.
"Cam, I am not sure if you remember me, but I am your Aunt Emily. I loved you since the minute I found out that your mom was going to have you. We had a rocky time because of my feelings towards your father, Zander but we worked it all out. Franco is going to show you around here and you can choose to stay here if you want. Zander is going to show you what your life would be like if you keep up with the anger that you have towards everyone you love. I am going to show you what your life is going to be like if you choose to let go of anger. What would you like to see first?"
Cameron was not sure, so he asked for Franco to show him around. Franco looked at his stepson and took him over by the river to just lay down and get some sun. "Cam. I want to tell you that I am sorry about asking Jason to shoot me if I started to act like I did before getting to know you and your family. I want you to listen and really hear me. Jason did not shoot me. Peter shot me because I knew too much about him. I just wanted to get a confession out of him, so justice could be served for Drew's death. I was not really thinking about what could happen if I got him and he could turn the tables on me. I am sorry about that. I should never have knocked him out and taken him to my studio. Jason showed up shortly after Peter left me to die. He tried to help me and that is when your mother showed up. She was heartbroken and she thought that Jason had done what I asked him to do. If Jason were going to do that, it would not be at the studio and he would not have ditched his gun the way that the cops think he did. I see everything that happens down there, and I know that you, your brothers, your mother and my father are in a lot of pain. If I could do things over, I would have. Remember, Peter did this and Jason is innocent. It is beautiful and peaceful up here, but you need to fight and get back to your life. You need to go to Stanford University and tell everyone how much you love them. Help Jason and make sure that Peter pays for doing this to our family. I love you Cam, like you are my son. Please remember that."
Cam was shocked by what Franco had just said to him. He knew that Franco would not lie to him about what happened, but he was so sure that Jason shot Franco that he pushed everyone away. Joss and Jake took his anger the hardest. They tried to explain that Jason would not have killed Franco like that or left anything to chance if he had killed him. His mother was even starting to think it was Peter. Cam felt so hurt by everything, but now he knew the truth and he needed to go so he could fix things including getting some help for his anger.
Zander walked with him up a hill and showed him what Port Charles looks like to him. Cam could say everyone running around doing all they could to make it through another day. He then saw himself working some anger off by fighting in a gang. The gang was part of Cyrus Renault's crew and he ruled the city. Cam wanted to be someone who people feared, and Cyrus took the young man under his charge. It was to get back at all the people that had crossed him. Jason was still in Pentonville and would be there for the rest of his life.
Cam did not believe what he found out when he spoke to Zander, Emily and Franco. He thought it was just a dream. His family had given up trying to get through to him. Elizabeth and Laura tried to keep Cam safe from himself until the day Cyrus came looking for him. Cam wanted revenge on Jason and Cyrus was the man to help him. He was in his early twenties and he looked twice his age. He was steadily drinking and doing drugs. Jake and Aiden were scared to be near him, and they let Cam be on his own. Joss and Trina had gone off to college and did not look back. They tried to get him to go with them to school, but he thought he was too cool for that.
When he was twenty-five, he found someone that he loved. He tried to change for her but could not and when she asked him to leave Cyrus and go off with her, he told her he could not. She was beautiful, but because she tried to get Cameron away from Cyrus, she was shot by one of the men he worked with. Cameron was never the same after that. He became colder than Jason ever thought to be, and he knew that he would die in a hail of bullets. His family had invited Cameron to go out to dinner to celebrate Jake's engagement to Joss. They had become close when Cam kept hurting them. Jake had finished college and was going to New York City to start his own gallery.
Cameron came in at the last minute and he saw his family. His grandmother was there, his brothers, mother and Joss. She had her parents there and sisters, Michael, Willow and Wylie. There was a lot of love in the room and when he was going to leave the restaurant was blown up. No one survived.
"I wanted you to see that you are heading for heartache. You need to think about how you really feel about Jason, Jake and your mother. If you feel that they are wrong, please go talk to someone anyway. You do not want your life to be like that. You have so much to accomplish in your life. I love you son and I have since the minute I found out that you were mine. I have been watching over you since then and will continue to watch over you. Emily and I are proud of you and so is Franco. We want to see you happy. We want you to go to college, find someone who will love and appreciate you like you deserve to be loved. Get married to her and have children. You deserve so much more than what I could have given you. I know that you love your family, and they love you. Just go, reach out to them and believe in yourself."
Cameron looked at his father and then realized that he had one more life to investigate and that was with his Aunt Emily. Cam knew that he needed to see how great his life could be, and he prayed that he could remember some of what is going on now for everything to sink in. Emily took Cam to a place that she loved. They were overlooking the harbor. "I want you to know that we have been watching over you since you were born. Zander watched you grow up. When I came here, I was able to see everything that was going on and I know how much your mother is hurting right now. She deserves to be happy and so do you. Franco wants that for you too. He knows that you have so much potential, but you must believe in yourself. You will have a lot to make up for when you return, but we all know that you can do it. Your mother will want you to enjoy life and not worry about her. She loves you and knows that the world is right there at your feet. Jake and Joss also love you and they will forgive you too. The one person who you need to forgive the most is yourself. Jason understands why you are so angry. He was hurt and angry when he came out of his coma. We all had to learn to get to know him again. You still have your memories and that is one thing that can't be taken away."
Cam could not believe everything that he was seeing or hearing. He took it all in and he prayed that he could remember everything if he went back. Emily could see and feel what Cam was going through. She remembered how the night she was murdered, and she watched hopelessly as her family and friends tried to get over the grief of losing her. She has seen everyone that Elizabeth has lost, and she knows that her best friend is strong and will find love again. She prays it will be her brother who does that.
"Okay Cam. I have two very different versions for you. One is the version that you go to California and you leave Port Charles. It will be a long time before you come home. The second version is that you stay in Port Charles and go to the university with your two best friends, Trina and Joss. You have been going back and forth with the two of them, but never chose either one. You will in the next six months. You will not even have to think about, and she will know it too. You find out how strong you are and decide that you want to go into singing and song writing. You will take off to Nashville after you finish college and establish yourself. When you come home, you are happily married and have two beautiful children. I will not tell you who you chose, but you will know soon enough. The one where you go to college in California is also a great life for you. The first two years were hard, and you almost quit. Your brothers go to visit you and you realize how much has changed in Port Charles. They are doing great, and this gives you the reason to stick it out there. You get an engineering degree, and you find yourself traveling all over the world. You meet a beautiful woman who knows what you are capable of and what you can do to help her country. You are a great help to the people in the area and the two of you wed. You go back home to introduce your new wife to the family, and they are very happy for you. You know that you are meant to help people in areas where you met your wife. The two of you go to different places helping people make better use of their land and get the use of good clean water to take care of themselves and their families. Cameron, you become a symbol of life for the people who feel they were left behind. You and your family are the heroes, and everyone is very proud of your accomplishments."
Cam listened to his aunt. He could tell that either way, he was going to be happy, and his family was going to be fine. "I want to thank all of you for helping me out. I know that I need to let go of the anger and get on with my life. I love you and will not forget about any of you." The three of them tell Cam that he is loved and that he will be happy. Let yourself be happy and good things will come to you. We will watch over you and your family. Just remember we love you.
Cam felt himself go back into his body. He could tell that they were working hard on him. He just needed to heal and then he was going to get the help he needed. He could not tell if it was a dream, but it felt too real. He realized that everyone was right, and that Jason was innocent. He just needed to wake up and face what he had done.
Elizabeth had been by her son's bed for the past three days. The doctors believed they had turned a corner on Cameron and that he would wake up at any time. She just prayed they were right. "Mom, is that you? I am sorry for taking off like that and wrecking the car. I realize that I was wrong about everything and especially Jason. I know he wouldn't have done that to hurt us."
Elizabeth tried to calm her son down, but he was not having it. She pressed the call button for the doctors to come in and check out her son. She was worried that he was getting himself too upset. Finn came in because he was consulting on Cam's coma. When he saw Cam, he was very happy. He noticed that his patient was a bit hyper and wanted him to calm down. "Cameron. I want you to look at me. You need to relax and calm down. I know you have a lot to say, but you will be able to do that once you have relaxed and rested some more. We are not going anywhere, and you will have plenty of time to tell everyone what you want to say. I am very happy you are awake because your cousin, Violet keeps asking about you. She loves you and your brothers. I am going to give you something that will help you relax and maybe a little later your mom will let your friends and family come into to see you."
Cam started to calm down and was soon sound asleep. Finn made Elizabeth go home and relax for a little while. He told her that he would stay with Cam and she needed to take some time with her sons now that Cameron was going to be alright. He told her to take a shower and get some rest. When Cam wakes up again, she can come visit him then.
Elizabeth took his advice and went home. Jake and Aiden were happy to know that Cam was going to be alright and that he was sorry for scaring us. "Jake, he wants you to know that he was wrong about Jason and realizes that Jason would never do that to hurt you or any of us. He loves us and he cannot wait to get home.
It took two weeks before they let Cameron out of the hospital. He put in for Port Charles University and was going to hang around making sure that his family knew that he would be around. He talked to Kevin about his anger issues dealing with Franco's death. He told him about seeing Franco, Emily and his father on the other side and how they helped him realize that he needed to come back. Cam told Joss about what he saw and heard, but he never said anything to anyone else even Trina. He realized that Joss was the one for him. He wanted to tell his mother about his experience, but he was afraid that she would not believe him.
Cam was happy when he was able to see that justice was done when Peter August was arrested for Franco's murder. Peter's confession was still on Franco's phone and the fight was recorded on one of Franco's hidden cameras. Scotty was not happy with the police department when he found out all that the investigators missed while gathering evidence against Jason. The cameras even showed Jason trying to see if Franco was still alive.
Jason was released and Cameron had apologized to him. He told him that he should have known that Jason would not hurt Franco because of Jake, Aiden, his mom and himself. He then told Jason about seeing Franco, Zander and his Aunt Emily. They helped him realize what had happened and what he needed to do to have a good life.
Jason and Elizabeth became friends again and the boys thought of him as a good friend. Cyrus Renault was put away for paying Gladys to lie to the police. She was arrested for fraud and jailed too. Peter and Cyrus did not last long in prison because of everything that had happened in Port Charles. Sonny had too many people who owed him and it looked like just another day in Pentonville. Jason found out about Sonny and Nina. He went to the bar after following Nina one time down there. He thought that Nina had found Nelle and that was who she was secretly seeing. He was shocked to see "Mike" with no memory. Jason told Nina to tell him the truth or he was going to bring Carly down there and all hell will come down on her. Jason did not want any more problems with Nina, but he wanted Sonny back so he could try to have normal life.
Jason, Nina and "Mike" went back to Port Charles. Slowly, Sonny started to get back his memories and he eventually went back to living with Carly. Jason was able to lead a normal life and realized that he was still in love with Elizabeth. Joss and Cameron fell in love and went to Port Charles University and later they went to one of the universities in New York City. Trina fell in love with one of the guys from Harvard and that was where she was going. She wanted to be a lawyer and help people when they needed it.
Cam and Joss graduated and opened a night club in Nashville. They were married before moving there and had twins. They named their son, Morgan and daughter, Emily. Jax had married Nina and they were living close by to Joss and Cam. Jason and Elizabeth were married during Jake's last year of high school. Jake was going to the university to get some management classes and then he was going to help his mother open an art gallery. Aiden was still into baking and planned on going into management, but still doing the baking on the side.
Carly and Sonny were still happily married and left Jason to do what he wanted to do and that was to be with the one person he always loved and marry her. Sam had left Port Charles when she heard that Drew may be alive. She used her investigative skills and Spinelli's talent to find the one man who truly stole her heart. When she found him, they were able to fall back in love and moved to San Diego.
Franco, Emily and Zander were still watching from above. They were very happy about Cameron realizing what was important in life. Emily told Franco that she understood about watching Elizabeth with Jason. She saw how much Nic had changed and sometimes it was a bit too much for her. They knew in time that their loved ones would be back with them. They visited with their friends and relatives for the most part, but when something big was going on in the lives and loves in Port Charles, the three of them stuck together.
