Chapter 1 – I hate you here
Nervously, Gine walked across the army base. She wanted to get away from here, she was not a warrior. She still felt sore from the last mission. Through Fasha she had heard that the captain was out of the medical machine.
Gine was holding a piece of paper. Bardock had to sign this one. Without his permission, she would not be allowed to leave the army. The last time she saw the captain he was so angry with her. Gine got a lump in her throat, that's how nervous she was.
Flashback:
Gine sat against a rock, holding her arm with her hand. A jolt of pain shot through her body as she fought the pain. A group of wolf-like creatures ran towards her. Trembling, she held her hand forward. Even though she knew her shot wouldn't do anything.
No one saw the rescue approaching. Bardock threw himself between the creatures and his injured team member. The hardened through captain caught the blow and was pushed backwards. "Gine, get up and fight!" he shouted.
The damaged girl came wobbling back to her feet. The shot that was going to fire she fired as well. "What the hell was that?" snarled Bardock. Gine said nothing, she shot again. Bardock jumped beside her. "Gine focus, this is no walk in the park. Fight dammit".
Bardock grabbed Gine around her waist and jumped up, away from the creatures. They went up the rock together. Then the captain threw his teammate to the ground. Gine leaped up, her nose almost touching his chest, one hand on his hip and the other hand she pushed between his waist and arm. She fired a ki shot.
The creatures had followed them. Unfortunately, Gine's ki shot had little effect. Bardock was hit full in the back when the enemy attacked and the Saiyans flew through the air. The two of them crashed to the ground. Bardock was still shielding the small petite body of Gine with his own.
Bardock continued to catch the attacks with his back, Gine was frozen with fear. Fortunately, there the rest of the team arrived and overpowered the creatures with speed and strength. "Captain" whispered Gine. Bardock looked furious, and began to growl "weakling, I should have let you die".
~ End of the flashback ~
Bardock was alone in his strategy room. He felt so frustrated; he had been injured because of that weakling. Why he keeps saving her over and over again was a mystery. He wasn't completely healed yet, his muscles still ached, but he had to make a report to the general.
With the palm of his hand he rubbed his forehead. The other hand he held his rip, still feeling a little bruised. Staring at the paperwork in front of him, he balled his fist and slammed it on the table. He let out a short, restless growl.
On the other side of the door Gine approached. She had to face her captain sooner or later. She was nudged by a soldier. Gine almost fell to the ground "watch your step little one" snarled the soldier. Gine was completely done with all these vicious warriors and this kind of life.
Gine knocked on the door; she heard nothing. Maybe he wasn't there she thought to herself. She turned around but then the door slid open. With a deep sigh it was time to face the captain. At a gentle pace Gine walked through the door.
Bardock looked at the person in the doorframe with an annoying look. This particular soldier was the last person he wanted to see. But here she was, the frail Gine. He looked at her tightly as she walked toward him. "Captain" she said softly. "Talk louder, soldier" he snapped.
Unexpectedly, Gine slammed a paper on the table; she looked at him angrily. Bardock shot up strait "what do you want from me?" he said in a loud voice. Behind Gine the door was slowly sliding shut again. The fragile little soldier in front of him looked at him with tears in her eyes and then sighed deeply.
Stuttering, she began to speak "I want to get out of here, you have to sign". Bardock looked down at the paper on the table. He pulled it toward him and grabbed it. It was a dismissal paper, she had made it herself. Only a captain could discharge someone from the army.
Gine stood up straight in front of the desk. She watched the captain read through the paper, her palms felt sweaty. He threw it back on the table "no, I can't sign this". Gine looked at him startled "what? Why? Captain, I am a burden to you. Why aren't you signing?"
Bardock walked out from behind the table "What kind of life are you going to have? You are nothing more than a weak little woman. At least here at the army base you are safe because we live by the rules". His eyes spit fire, his decision was set.
Unexpectedly, Gine pushed against him "Jerk! You are so signing my death warrant! I am not a warrior like you. I know I don't stand a chance out here either and what do you care if I die on a mission or on our own planet?" Bardock grabbed Gine`s wrist and looked at her angrily.
The captain raised his voice "I didn't save you so many times for nothing, just to throw you out on the street? What do you think happens to a little fragile girl alone?" Gine tried with all her might to pull herself out of his grip. She was panicking and she was angry at the same time.
"Captain, please let me go!" cried Gine. Bardock pulled her to him, they stared at each other. "You see, you can't even escape from a small grip." Gine pressed her hand against his chest and tried to push herself away.
Bardock let go and she fell backwards. He had an amusing smile on his face. Angry, Gine got back on her feet. She ran towards her captain, she was completely fed up. His rude behavior, his anger, this life. With her fists she hit his chest.
Two large hands grabbed her wrists and pushed her body toward the wall. Gine was caught between the wall and her captain who was looking at her intensely. He was stunned by the sudden spark of fury. "Gine?" said Bardock in his low masculine voice.
Unable to fight anymore, Gine stared into two onyx black eyes. "Captain" she whispered. Bardock moved his body closer to Gine, something had changed. The two Saiyans looked at each other in complete trans.
A loud bang on the door broke the force that had pinned the two warriors against the wall. Angered, Bardock turned and walked to his table, meanwhile calling out "who's there?" The door opened, Taro his right hand and best friend walked in.
The warrior looked from his comrade to Gine at the wall. "Am I interrupting something?" Grinned Taro. "What do you want?" snarled Bardock. "Still not in the mood? Maybe this will help?" Taro pressed a box into the captain's hands.
Bardock opened the box and began to laugh. "This was the bonus? The two hundred successful mission bonus?" Taro just nodded. Taro looked on the table and picked up the letter Gine had made. "What is this?" asked Taro.
The captain looked at the letter and then at the wall where Gine stood, but she was gone. "Shit!" growled Bardock. He rubbed his forehead with the tips of his fingers. Taro slapped a hand on his shoulder "glad I'm not a captain, but go after her. I'll finish that report".
Quickly Bardock grabbed the letter from his friend's hand, along with the box he walked out. With a quick stride he quickly stood outside, it was starting to rain. He ran to the area where the warriors lived. It looked more like a trailer park but with small stone studios.
It was also starting to storm. Quickly he stood in front of his team member's door and rammed on the door shouting her name. Gine opened surprised she looked at the soaked Bardock "captain"?
