Devil of Evangelion

Chapter 1

The Arrival

Year: 850 AD (AoT Year), 2015 AD (NGE Year)

As Eren felt the intense heat of the explosion in his face, he felt his heart drop in horror of the realization he was just witnessing.

As he laid in the ground, holding the Armored Titan in a leg lock on the ground, he couldn't do anything but stare in shock at the Colossal Titan's gigantic Skull staring right at him as it was falling towards him at full speed.

He looked down at Reiner's broken nape right in front of him, as the hardened skin protecting it was in pieces and the muscle was beginning to tear apart from the force Eren was exerting on Reiner's neck as he held him in a headlock. Just a few seconds ago, Eren was grinning in satisfaction as he saw Reiner struggling to free himself from the head-lock as he tried to escape from his seemingly-inevitable defeat at the hands of Eren, but now, the tables turned completely, with Reiner remaining still as a rock under Eren's grip.

Eren couldn't help but snarl in anger as he realized why Reiner had roared loudly a few seconds prior.

'That son of a bitch, that's why he roared like that! He must've been signaling Bertholdt to crash down here. That's why he pushed me here. He's completely armored, so he won't get hurt by the crash unlike me. Shit!' Eren snarled at himself as he knew that even though he was holding Reiner in a headlock, it was him who was trapped now instead. Even though it was only a few split seconds, for Eren, his mind was rushing through dozens of thoughts and felt like minutes had passed instead.

He knew that if he let go of Reiner at that moment, he wouldn't even get too far before the Colossus crashed onto him would fall and crush him, and could subdue him or even potentially kill him. But he didn't even care at that moment, and using all of his strength, he grabbed Reiner and shoved him off, causing the Armored to crash into the ground nearby, allowing Eren to get up and begin sprinting out of there.

As he felt the heat of the Colossal dawning down on him from above, he closed his eyes instinctively as he saw the giant's head fall towards him, but as soon as he closed his eyes, he felt a sudden strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. He figured it was just his dread looming inside of him as his body was getting ready for the impact within just a few seconds, but he couldn't help but feel something crawling inside his mind, it felt as if something was pushing his brain around.

As he kept running away, he suddenly felt a spike of anxiety as his instincts flared up, causing him to open his eyes unwillingly. However, what he saw wasn't what he expected. Everything around him looked extremely blurry, with only a huge red blur in front of him letting him know that the Colossal Titan was already crashing into the ground and that he was already too late.

The rumbling from the crash was so great that Eren fell into the ground and crashed, however, he quickly ignored any feelings of pain from his Titan body as he lifted himself up and kept running regardless as he saw the Colossal Titan's skull shatter on the ground as the rest of its body followed suit. Eren felt the intense heat of it begin washing his whole Titan as another rumbling, far greater, began shaking the ground again, almost making him trip again, but he held himself from falling and he just kept moving forward.

He suddenly felt a powerful impact on his Titan's stomach that took his breath away as he collapsed into the ground. Before he could see what had happened, he saw a small bright dot of light in the middle of his vision as everything got more blurry around him. Suddenly the dot of light expanded quickly before glowing even more brighter, blinding him completely.

The last thing Eren saw was the bright light engulfing his entire vision as he heard a ringing sound take over his hearing completely. However, he managed to hear a noise in the distance, a voice, a voice that didn't sound male nor female, and instead, sounded as if a dozen people were speaking at the same time.

"It's me." The Voice spoke before the ringing gpt louder to the point Eren thought his Eardrums would burst, making him scream in pain, but suddenly, the Ring stop abruptly as everything went dead silent from one moment to another.

At that moment, Eren felt as if his head was also going to explode from the intense brightness around him. He felt his eyes snapped shut, yet, the light passed right through his closed eyelids as if nothing was in between. Suddenly, he felt an abrupt change in the Temperature as a freezing cold surrounded his body, causing him to gasp in shock as he instinctively snapped his eyes open, expecting to see rubble and dirt covering his vision. As his eye's blurriness went away, he looked around erratically only to see pure darkness around him. All around Eren, he could only see pitch darkness surrounding him.

He wasn't even sure if his eyelids were open or not due to the fact it didn't look any different. The Air had also changed drastically too. It felt extremely damp and moist, with some warmth mixing with some coldness, causing him to have an involuntary shiver as he instinctively held his body with his arms.

That's when he felt his bare chest, causing him to take on a confused expression before he touched more lower into his body to confirm his suspicion, and that's when he realized he wasn't wearing any clothing at all, he was completely bare, making him glare in shock and confusion. Even his sense of touch felt strange. It felt as if he were being completely submerged in a liquid, yet he could still breath perfectly fine and didn't have to struggle to breathe, although he did get the occasional shiver from feeling the cold liquid or whatever it was surrounding his bare body.

As he tried to comprehend what was occurring, the ringing noise returned with an even greater intensity, causing him to cover his ears in painful annoyance.

'What the hell is going on, where am I? What is this place-' Eren wasn't able to finish his thoughts as his chest suddenly constricted as he felt all his breath leave his mouth involuntarily, making him let out a silent gasp as his eyes went wide in shock.

'What the fuck is going on?! It feels like my chest is about to explode!' Eren tried screaming, but wasn't able to utter a single noise as the pressure in his chest got greater and the temperature grew colder. It felt as if something was choking out all the air inside of him, despite not feeling any grip on his neck or mouth or nose. With desperation having fully taken over his mind, he began to mindlessly claw at his neck with his hands, not caring a bit about any potential bleeding or injury as he sought a desperate attempt for relief, only for him to realize something else.

'Wait, why am I not inside my Titan? I can feel my own body. My human body. What the hell is happening?!'

As his confusion intensified, he began to feel his vision begin to slowly darken as he kept clawing at his neck despite the wet red substance covering his hands as he finally, in a desperate attempt, in his last fight for his self-preservation, with adrenaline running through his mind and body, he lifted his hand and slammed his teeth down on his hand, not caring about anything happening around him. As he saw the ray of lightning descending down atop him, contrasting the pitch darkness, he felt a small glimmer of hope come to him as he felt the heat of his Titan transformation surrounding him entirely as strands of muscle and massive bones were being made of thin air as his Titan came to be.

After only a few seconds of brightness surrounding Eren, everything went back to eerie silence as the Transformation finished after a few seconds. Eren opened his eyes once again, this time looking through his Titan's vision, he expected to see the darkness again, but rather he opened to something shocking. His eyes were looking at a blue surrounding right in front of him. Confusion coursed through his body once again as he felt his hair wildy moving around his face and eyes.

'What the hell?! Where am I now? Why do I feel so weird right now?' Eren wondered inside his mind as he felt a strange but yet familiar feeling in the pit of his stomach. He could finally breathe again, as the phantom grip holding his breath from him had vanished. However, his relief was short-lived as the feeling in his stomach got more intense and made him have a butterfly-in-his-stomach like feeling. It was when he felt the harsh air currents making his Titan eyes water a bit and the fact he didn't feel the ground below his feet that caused him to realize that he wasn't standing, he was falling at full speed; the blue surrounding was the sky that he was looking at as he finally began to hear the Air Current around him.

'Wait, how the Hell did I get here?! I was submerged in some liquid! Shit!' Eren growled as he began to see the rays of sunlight from the corner of his eyes as a few clouds began to become visible as he got closer to them. He turned his head around to see what was happening behind him, only to see pitch darkness below him that seemed to go on for miles below that contrasted the bright blue sky above.

Aside from the clouds getting bigger as the seconds passed and the sick feeling in his stomach, it seemed almost as if he were floating since the darkness below him seemed bottomless as he continued falling at full speed. Before he had any chance to do anything else, he felt his whole body shake violently as he abruptly crashed into something cold, metallic and seemingly invisible, and managed to hear a loud snap of bones breaking as everything in Eren's vision went black.

"So Eren, what will it be? It's your choice." A male voice spoke in the darkness.

"What do you mean?" Eren responded to the voice calmly, as if he knew who the voice belonged to already.

"Eren, you're free to choose your path. Fight for it, don't let anyone take it from your control" The voice spoke again as a quiet sigh was heard out in the darkness.

"Everything's changed, Eren. Thanks to you. All the destinies and prophecies there have been no longer work anymore, since everything has changed from your unexpected arrival. It's you who will choose Humanity's destiny now, and your own destiny too. It's your own path. The Path that you built with your own hands, not a Path determined by some Prophetic Bullshit. That's something I admire about you Eren." The voice answered.

"What do you admire about me?" Eren inquired.

"The fact that you just keep moving forward and always seek freedom not just for you only, but for everyone else." The Voice responded. After a few minutes of silence, it continued speaking.

"Nothing can control anyone's destiny anymore now. No one except for you, Eren Jaeger. Fight. Wake Up and Fight. And just keep moving forward, Eren. Wake Up"

Eren gasped as he felt himself sit up completely as he suddenly heard a loud painful pop as cold air rushed into his ears. He felt the air washing through his face as his bewildered mind tried to take in what just occurred around him.

As he began to hear another loud ringing noise in his ears, he heard the wind blowing gently around him and began to hear something squawking loudly near. He collapsed back into the soft ground with a thump as he felt exhaustion coursing through his body like never before; he was so sure that he didn't even have the strength to breathe anymore. He tried to understand what had just occurred just moments prior. He could only remember seeing Darkness around him as he heard a man's voice out in the darkness.

'"It's you who will choose Humanity's destiny." What the hell does that even mean?' Eren wondered in his mind as he unconsciously let out a groan of exhaustion as his body also began aching everywhere too.

The ringing noise got louder as what seemed like minutes passed by as he suddenly began to get a strange feeling inside his stomach. It felt as if something was squeezing the bottom of his stomach in a strange kind of way. He suddenly began to shiver involuntarily, as if he was in the sheer winter cold, but the weather and cool breeze told the complete opposite.

He suddenly felt a lurch of disgust in the pit of his stomach, causing Eren to snap his eyes open once again and sit up before falling down on his face and began to heave out all the contents inside his stomach as the feeling in his stomach got worse. Even though his stomach felt empty, he couldn't stop throwing up an orange-like liquid out of his mouth. He figured it out to be some acid reflux.

This continued on for a few more seconds, until his stomach felt like it was squeezing itself to death, devoid of any food or liquid remaining inside of it, causing Eren to begin shakily standing up before suddenly collapsing into the ground, causing him to groan and rub his head in pain. He opened his eyes again only to look at the Sun glaring down on him harshly, causing him to squint his eyes as his mind finally began to register the strange texture of the ground. It felt grainy, yet soft. He moved his hand around the ground, feeling how it responded to his movements and seemed to shift and move around his hand. He finally cocked his head sideways and opened his eyes more to see what the floor was made of.

"What-what the hell is this? It's all sand?" Eren asked himself as he grabbed some of the Sand in his fist before letting it fall out through his fingers a few seconds later as his head collapsed back into the ground from exhaustion.

The air felt like something he had never experienced before. It was warm, but unlike the summer days he had in Shiganshina or Trost. It felt more calid, but at the same time, more soothing, with a bit of coolness in the Air too. The comfortable warmth from the Sun made his body beg him to get some desperate rest right there in the ground, but he refused to do that.

"Where the hell am I?" Eren whispered to himself as he looked at the bright blue sky above him, with a few clouds passing by. He finally took a shaky breath and exhaled slowly as the breeze made his hair flutter a bit in his forehead, tickling him a bit. He finally mustered all of his strength, and clenching his mouth in concentration, he used his remaining strength to prop his arms up before using his hands and feet to lift the rest of his body off the ground.

As he stood wobbling around dizzyingly, threatening to fall down once again, he took a good look at his surroundings for the first time. As the glare of the sun's rays lessened when he propped his hand above his eyes to cover them, he was finally able to see everything more clearly. That's when a breeze hit his body, making him shiver, and he realized that most of his shirt and pants were torn apart completely, and he didn't even have his boots anymore, causing him to scowl at the ground as he suddenly gasped when he remembered something else. He instinctively reached up into his neck, letting out a sigh of relief and feeling his heart slow down as he felt the Key still tied around his neck.

He proceeded to take his shirt off, that was now only a few strands of cloth only, and threw it into the ground despite the occasional shiver from the new Weather, before looking in front of him. There was sand everywhere in the ground surrounding him, more sand than he could have ever seen in his life.

It reminded him of when he and Mikasa would sit and listen to Armin happily explain things inside his book by the Riverbank that crossed Shiganshina that was covered in Sand, even if they already had known nearly everything in the book, but Eren didn't mind hearing it once again since both Mikasa and Armin seemed really happy when talking about the book. A wave of nostalgia coursed through his body as he began to realize that he had no idea where this place was.

'Where is this place? Did I die? Did Reiner succeed? What happened?' Eren wondered to himself as his childhood memories kept playing in his mind. A sudden squawking-like noise above Eren snapped him out of his reverie as he looked up into the sky only to see a bird passing by. However, the Bird made Eren grow confused.

'I've never heard a Bird do that kind of noise in my life, and I've never even seen a Bird with a Beak that big before. It looks like one of those animals from Armin's book. It was apparently called Seagulls or something like that. They only resided by the Ocean, according to the Book.' Eren pondered in his mind as he watched the Bird fly away to the distance. He turned back to the ground and kept looking around. He soon noticed some greenery far out into the distance, making him squint his eyes to see what it was.

He soon was able to make out lush grass and trees far out from where he was, making him realize he now had a potential food source, especially since his stomach went empty after throwing up everything; however, before he had the chance to run, he began to hear something. It felt as if water was splashing together; it was just like in the lakes and rivers, but it felt more louder, yet more soothing at the same time. Eren's heart stopped at that moment.

'Armin, he said that the Seagull's main source of food was fish, since there's so many fishes where the Seagulls live, and according to Armin, Seagulls only resided by the….' Eren was unable to finish his thought as he turned around towards the splashing noise, making him gap his mouth in shock.

"The Ocean." Eren uttered out loud as he stood in front of the water that went out for as far as the eye could see. The waves splashed into the Sandy Beach gently before rolling back into the rest of the Sea as it repeated the process over and over. It looked just like the Book had described it, and Eren simply couldn't do anything but let tears roll down both of his cheeks. One was of the beautiful sight Eren knew had had a very low chance of ever seeing in his life, and the other tear was of the fact that he was no longer within the Walls, of his Home.

"Sir, we just got an alert from one of our NERV Satellites in the Southern Hemisphere. It just detected an Impact on a Southern Island in Madagascar around three minutes ago, it seemingly appeared right out of nowhere in the sky, around 50 Meters from the Ground, the MAGI calculates that the speed of the object falling and the strength of the impact indicate that it's smaller than five meters, but the MAGI believes it to be an Angel Embryo, especially since it appeared out of nowhere, should I raise the Alarm, Sir?" Makoto Hyuga, First Lieutenant at NERV HQ, told the Commander, who responded with silence as he stared at the Lieutenant quietly.

After a few seconds, the Commander spoke, with his hands still placed in front of his face, hiding any facial expressions he was wearing, if he even had any.

"Do not sound the Alarm; however, keep the Alarm on standby. Put all of NERV HQ in defense mode in preparation for another possible Angel attack, but do not announce this to the Public. Be prepared to Designate the Object as the Fifth Angel." Gendo told him as the other NERV Computer technicians below him looked at each other nervously before looking back at the Commander, awaiting any more instructions from their Superior.

"Is Pilot Ayanami ready for combat?" The Commander asked the Blonde-haired Doctor standing next to him stoically.

"She's still finishing her medical examination, but she should be ready to Pilot the EVA within just a few minutes." Ritsuko informed him, earning a nod from Gendo.

"Perfect. Where is the Object moving towards, Lieutenant?" The Commander inquired.

"We still haven't detected any major movement in the Location, Sir. We can't see fully well what the object is, since the anomaly seems to have also affected the Satellite's imagery in the zone of impact." Hyuga responded as he typed into his computer and tried to zoom in closer to the Satellite footage, only for the image to blur completely into white and blue blotches.

"Send a Drone to the Location immediately. I want a full description of the Object."

"Yes Sir. Approximate time of Arrival for the Drone to the Madagascar Archipelago is Thirty Minutes, sir"

"Very well, and just where is Captain Misato?" Gendo asked.

"I'll call her, she's probably at home still." Ritsuko told the Commander as she promptly left the Room to grab her Phone.

As everyone immediately dropped their leisurely pace and began running around to their positions in preparation for another possible Angel attack, Gendo kept staring at the footage of the Satellite caught of the object falling into the island as the footage repeated itself over and over.

"Interesting." He murmured to himself.

"Lieutenant, send a copy to the Laboratory Mainframe." He spoke as he soon stood up from his chair and silently walked away with another copy of the Satellite footage to examine it more closely in the Lab.

"Yes, sir."

"Jesus, it's just been five days since the Fourth Angel attacked. How the hell are we supposed to keep holding off all these things now that there's one literally every two weeks?" Aoba turned his chair around to ask Hyuga, who could only respond with an uncertain face, as he himself didn't have the answer to that either.

'We don't know, Shigeru. We can only hope for the best." He simply answered as he turned around to face the Commander.

"Hey, where did the Commander go?"

"Shinji, I'm really sorry for having yelled at you like that, it's just that-uggh, I don't know how to say it! It's just that I hate it when someone disobeys a Superior's orders blatantly. I'm really sorry for going out on you like that. I didn't understand what you meant at first, but now I do. I'm so sorry, Shinji."

"It-it's ok, Ms. Misato." Shinji responded as he looked at the train station behind them as they drove away from it. Shinji let out a sigh as he looked at it as the Station slowly turn into a dot before vanishing into the horizon as he remembered everything that had happened that day. After having almost left Tokyo-3 for good, he had a sudden gut feeling that made him skip the Train for some strange reason.

A few seconds later, Misato had arrived in her Car, and brought him back with her as she began to apologize for not understanding him, despite Shinji telling her that it wasn't her fault, but she wasn't having any of it.

"For the last time, just call me Misato, "Ms. Misato" makes me feel so old already. I'm still Twenty-Nine, for Goodness sake!" Misato exclaimed before she chuckled at her own comment, before looking over at Shinji, who remained quiet as he kept looking forward.

"Look Shinji, how about this, to make up for this, let's have another fiesta , like the Spanish say it, and besides, we've got to celebrate another Victory of yours over the Angels! Let's go grab some Party Supplies!" Misato cheerfully said as she began to take a Detour for her "party supplies", which was just another name for Beer, Ramen, and at least some Pizza.

As Misato kept rambling about other miscellaneous things that Shinji wasn't even bothering to listen to and was more interested in checking out how recklessly Misato was driving, Misato's cell phone began to suddenly ring and buzz loudly inside her jacket, which she had thrown in the backseat.

"Oh, who is it?" Misato asked herself aloud as she casually turned away from looking at the front of the Wheel to look for her phone inside her jacket.

"M-Misato, you're not looking at the- Misato, watch out!" Shinji shouted as she nearly crashed into a car. She turned her head around, and realizing what was going to happen, quickly swerved out of the way before braking abruptly in the middle of a street, making the two passengers tumble.

"Ow, dammit! Oh, please don't tell me I dented this thing again! I've now got 37 payments due! Ah, dammit, who's calling me right now, it better not be from work…." Misato grumbled angrily as she finally pulled out her phone.

"Hello Ritsuko, what do you need?" Misato asked her with the false enthusiasm barely masking her scowl from having nearly crashed thanks to the Phone Call.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm doing really good, y'know. Reaaalllly good." Misato answered to who Shinji presumed to be Ritsuko, with sarcasm dripping in her voice. Suddenly, her face went from a smile into a frown as concern overtook her face as she heard what the Doctor was saying.

"Understood. I'll be there in less than ten minutes. I'll see you there." Misato responded after a few seconds as she hung up before looking at Shinji with an uncertain face.

"Shinji, we need to get to NERV right now." She told him with a concerned face as she did a U-Turn and began to drive back from where they came from previously.

"Wait, what's going on?! Is-is there another Angel coming? But it's just been less than a Week since the last one came!" Shinji cried out nervously.

"No, Shinji, some Satellite of ours detected an Impact in the Madagascar Archipelago, which is now suspected to be an Angel. We still haven't fully confirmed it's an Angel and we haven't detected any major movement anywhere near the zone of impact yet, so the Alarm hasn't been sounded yey; there was a Drone sent over to the Island to investigate. It should arrive within a couple of minutes as of now, but we've got to get ready just in case it really is the Fifth Angel." The last words trembled out of Misato's mouth as she drove silently for the rest of the ride, which only added more tension to the already unnerving feeling inside the Car.

It was a common fact that everyone knew that Madagascar had been one of the worst hit places from the Second Impact thanks to its close distance to Antarctica, with most of the Island either flooding or collapsing from the brutal earthquakes that mostly shook the Southern Hemisphere, and left behind only a few, small, uninhabited islands that formed a new Archipelago as a reminder of the sheer strength and horror that the Second Impact was.

'No, God, no. Not another Angel. Not this soon. Please no.' Shinji prayed in his mind as he aimlessly looked at the Windshield in front of him.

"Shinji, do you think you can Pilot the EVA? And please answer me this question truthfully." Misato asked him a grave tone. Silence ensued as Shinji pondered what his answer was, since even he himself didn't know the answer. Finally, after a few seconds, Shinji spoke.

"But wait, how do you know its an Angel? It could just be a meteorite or something?" Shinji asked her after a few seconds of silence.

"That's the thing, Shinji. The Satellite caught the Object appearing in mid-air, out of nowhere, before crashing into the Island. It's not from Outer Space, it's from somewhere else. That's why it's suspected to be an Angel." Misato answered as she drove recklessly once more.

"Oh." Shinji simply said as he kept looking forward. After another few seconds of silence, he spoke once more.

"So when is the Angel going to arrive here?"

"There still hasn't been any major movement detected in the region, so we don't really know, Ritsuko suspects it to be a possible unhatched Angel Embryo." Misato responded as they finally arrived at NERV HQ.

"So Shinj, do you think you can Pilot the EVA? It's okay if you don't feel like it right now, Rei can take over for now." Misato repeated again, with a determined look in his face.

"So what'll it be, Shinji?"
