Ahem: a collection of stories for my little sister's birthday. I shall put my music library on shuffle and pair her top 10 ships with the first 10 songs. Each ship gets a story related to the song with decreasing times: ship #1 gets 10 min., ship #2 gets 9 min., ship #3 gets 8 min., etc. So ship #10 is a hot mess 1 min. panic attack.
You don't HAVE to listen to the song first...but you might want to. And author's notes are bolded.
4. RosexThe Doctor (Doctor Who) – "Starlight" by MUSE – 7 min. timer
Um so fun fact I have no idea what this song is. But it's called "Starlight", so it's probably relevant.
The TARDIS, his beautiful, sexy ship, arguably the love of his life…
...he couldn't hold it very well. But it held him as it hurled him through space, hurled him away from her.
He was off to save the world, the galaxy, for people and beings that probably didn't care if he lived or died.
Because that was what he did. He did it because...it was what he did.
He couldn't hold saving the galaxy either.
He wasn't sure if it was worth it anymore.
All his grand plans and heroic missions...were they really just black holes? Oh, very big and impressive and kind of neat to look at but ultimately gaping, sucking voids of pointlessness.
She wasn't pointless.
She was real and warm and very holdable.
He had never actually done it. Not like he wanted to, anyway.
Maybe he should have. Maybe he could have. That was all that he had wanted to do at any rate.
Saving the galaxy with her was fun, yes, but the "with her" was the part that kept him going, not the saving.
And all he had wanted to do was hold her in his arms. Get rid of the saving part and just...just hold her.
What would she have done if he tried?
Held him back?
Something more?
Dare he hope?
Dare he even think of such a thing?
She was gone now, and he would consider saving all the pointless black holes in the pointless galaxy as his unholdable ship took him farther and farther away from her.
"Rose…" He allowed the name to escape from his tongue and linger for a few moments in the air.
And then he turned the ship around.
Oh, wow, this is a REALLY good RosexDoctor song. Maybe that's why I had it in the first place lol. I suggest obtaining it, it's a goodie. OH I HAD A DREAM LAST NIGHT THAT FINISHED THIS STORY (why I had the dream days after writing it, idk): he turned the ship around anddecided to go back in time to some adventure he had had with her and then essentially steal her from himself. They were having a picnic (or something?), something where they were lying on a blanket in a field with other people similarly having picnics nearby. Old Him noticed and commented on her very short flowery skirt, but he was too "oh, I can't possibly do this"to make a move, so he just like lowkey shamed her for her short skirt and then left hahaha. Then New Him jumped out of the TARDIS in his eagerness to be with her, lol. But he could fly/float (?). He landed kind of hovering on the grass, and he felt so free and at peace knowing he finally was like, ah, yes, I do in fact love Rose, and I'm going to do something about it. But when he got over to her...all the other guysthere had fallen in love with her! Everyone had a necklace for her,and it was this unspoken thing that whoever gave her the best necklace was going to get her. Some of them were made of flowery seashells, I remember that. I was really mad at my own subconscious, I was like, UGH, I thought they were just going to make out on the blanket, why did I invent an obstacle? Hahaha, anyway, luckily, New Doctor totally knew this was a thing, and he had a velvet necklace, and it hadn't gotten around to his turn to present his necklace yet, but you could tell he was going to be the winner. Then I suppose they were going to slurp on the blanket...but Noel slammed a door, and I woke up, the end!
